Come on Dakka! I've got to wait until WD comes through the letterbox to find out there's a fantastic new Empire Plastic Archers set coming out? They have a very Ostland feel (i.e. broad moustaches) and some nice details (dead pheasant!). Anyway, that's done it for me, I'm going back to my Empire models for a while. The Greatswords Plastics are also shown btw.

What else in WD352? Well if you can't be bothered to watch all three and half hours of Return of the King to see the Battle of Pelannor Fields, why not see the entire thing recreated with lots of models instead of CGI? Still at least WoTR heralds a decent Theoden model at last.

And for those who feel that the Space Marines miniatures line has been somewhat neglected, we have Veterans MKII who look suspiciously indistinguishable from Veterans MKI.

Jervis is back (Woo. Hoo.) but was clearly still a little pressed for time as he simply reprints a letter from some American fellow imploring for the release of more expansions to add character to the games and then agrees with the sentiment. Seriously JJ, I could do your job.

Advance Orders confirms main Imperial Guard release as 2nd May (nice pic of the Valkyrie box). You'll have to wait until the 16th for the Regimental Advisors and Battleforce Sets (both Cadian and Catachan).

Sorry, no scanner at home. If nobody beats me to it, I'll add a few pics at work tomorrow. Also no suggestion that Imperial Advisors will be direct only. I expect they'll appear in stores for a while at least.

Any guesses on what they'll charge for that hardcover Soldiers of the Empire: Warhammer Uniform Guide book? $40 maybe? It sounds like it could have some cool info in it, but probably isn't the kind of thing I would actually buy.

It's a collectors / background sort of thing I guess, I've got a big soft spot for those kind of books. If not for the hobby aspect, then just to read at night.

If it costs the same as an army book I'd think about buying something like that, but I've got a feeling it'll be more expensive, especially being full color and hardcover. My main hangup is probably that, when painting fantasy miniatures, I usually prefer to come up with my own color schemes.

I do love me some Osprey books though.

Not exactly Osprey style but judging from those three page spreads we'll get plenty of pictures and some blocks of text per city / state, which is good enough for me.

I have to admit, and all plastic army sounds SO hot.

If Robin is the new generation of GW designers I'd sign for the dope fiend in the middle, Mat looks like he still needs to get past the grass and into the real stuff.

Do they have to wear those ridicoulus uniforms even under that cloak?

I believe that's Robin on the right, but I may be wrong.

Apparently there will be many pages on each region of the Empire. No Marienberg, Border Princes or Estalia. A nice page on The Moot with halflings decked in green and pages of banners and pages of Knightly Orders, etc, etc.

Most possibly because a lot of people view them as uninteresting units to field.

I always use a unit of Huntsmen in my Empire army. But I have a unit of the old metal Stirland-esque metals that I love.

Right now I have a bunch of militia and that lovely Kislev ranger as Huntsmen, though I might get a box of these just because they look so nice. With the right heads and colours these new ones could easily be turned into extra huntsmen.

They'd really be quite nice for Mordheim too.

I was thinking the same thing though, it is kind of strange that these slipped through the cracks here until they made it in White Dwarf...

They were shown at the UK Design Studio Open Day during the seminar slideshow apparently (no photos allowed) and people commented that they were pretty impressed by them. But GW do seem to be doing very well with the new models showing up in WD first lately. They be running a tight ship... except for the IG Codex semi-leaks I guess.

Hmm, the only thing I really miss on these plastic Greatswords is the armoured left arm. Plus the sleeves and the trousers are a bit too poofy for my tastes.
