I don't play the square based game but even so these make terrible tenant or peasant archers (if you can afford fancy sleeves and hats you can afford armour).

However rearmed with rifles, pistols and/or long knives they'd make excellent Freemason assassins in traditional uniform for a Steampunk game or proxy Khador assassin guys for Warmachine. Are they £12 for ten?

Yup, safest guess would be that they are the same price as the other two Empire State Troop boxed sets.

There's a rather snazzy kneeling archer that's been cut in half by those two pics:

How come when I feel that I've got my Empire finished they start doing this? I guess I better start collecting my Golden Crowns.

Might make passable greatcoat guard if they're not too slender.

Odd that they don't mention the new sculpt of Mad Marius Leitdorf though, or could it be a future Collectors Range release?

I think he might be, there was talk of that because isn't he dead anyway?

Yes, but so are Vlad, Konrad and Isabella Von Carstein. That's 75% of Vampire Count "Special Characters" which are effectively historical.

EDIT - Huzzah! That's 300 posts and now I'm a Nimble Pistolier, very appropriate for Flashman (nimble in respect of hastening away from the enemy).

He's been killed by the orcs for much of the background if not mistaken, much to the delight of his troops.

Shame really, he was the only interesting Elector Count.

Well, some of the others have been mentioned here and there, but not in much detail sadly, as some had nice and tasty things that made them so fun in the whole Empire setting. Valmir von Raukov with his magical bow comes to mind and I'd love to see that whore of Nuln wield the Runefang without bemoaning her hair or dress.

Why Can't they make a plastic old blood set which you can put on a mount or not.
But no they have to make plastic steam tanks and all that $#!T Why GW why have you betrayed me!

I wish they made plastic EVERYTHING.

For instance, I'm miffed that engineers, mounted wizards, and priests are all still metal. Lame.

A boxed set of two plastic engineers with all options including pigeon bombs would be marvellous.

I think all the boxed sets for each hero/lord type should be packaged like the general. One on foot, one mounted, all options. BAM!

And then some palstic monsters with one of each type of rider.

I just gave myself a joygasm

I think plastic monsters full stop, but ones that are compatible with any kind of rider e.g. A griffon on which you can mount the Empire or High Elf Commander plastic model.

That's a wicked idea too!

Bad news is, it would nto be "themed" like the army, would have to be really generic, and it would mean you'd need two boxed sets for the one monster-mounted hero or lord. That would be fail.

IIRC, Standard Bearer mentioned the future of plastics, and talked of bigger, better scaled Gribblies and more plastic characters.

I think the stages GW are doing things in makes a certain amount of sense. Focus on getting the units into plastic, and thus cheaper first. You only need a handful of characters, so leaving them as metal for the time being isn't too deadly in terms of driving up price. Remember, it costs a lot more to setup a plastic mould than a metal one. Once the units are all plastic, GW should see increased sales across the range. At this point, with sales being healthier, the lower yield plastic kits can be introduced. Loss Leaders and all that.

EDIT - @ Scottywan (Mad Dok got in the way of my response)

I dunno, loads of people took the High Elf dragon and turned it into a Dark Elf dragon, Wood Elf dragon, the Emperor's dragon and even an Orc Wyvern.

The kits could be mostly generic, with a few options to make them specific to a particular army.

I agree with both you, Flashman, and MDG. I would just prefer plastics because of the sheer joy of building plastic sets! I'm so psyched for the Guard Command Squads just because of the conversion possabilities.

Anyways, I'm just rambling. I LOVE plastic sets.

I agree with BrookM though, I think I like the old Greatswords better. I mean seriously, what is up with the yelling dude on the far right?

Wow. Those are both great. A little too GW-esque for historicals but pretty close, and certainly good for any fantasy game.

I'll probably pick up a box of each to use for something. Mordheim or Gloire! or Warlord...maybe even WHFB!

Oh, and Half-Brother of Marneus Calgar--what's going on, man? Has all that Forgeworld Resin finally gone to your brain?

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

I think HBMC and HMBC are actually two different people. Strangely enough they're both in Australia.

Maybe it's like the Malfred clone thing?
