Episode 28 turned into another mega show while we weren't looking. We start off with an interview with comic book artist Scott Wegner and talk about how he got into the industry as well as his hit comic series "Atomic Robo."
After Scott we dive into two reviews. First the western themed card game Bang! and then the Warhammer 40,000 based computer game Dawn of War II.
All that and our usual 'not too horrible' humor, with features such as:
- Rapid Fire
- The Hollywood Minute
- When Wives Attack
- Words from Wales
- & More

Man, I was waiting so long for this episode to come out! I really enjoyed your last episode...probably the most of all so far (listened to all of them ) but I really felt like you hit an awesome balance last week.
Keep up the good work.

Nice word.
This week the Word From Geordieland is "Plinthe". I think it has a nice sound to it. Don't you?

Awesome episode guys.
By the way, I've been thinking. I've been really intrigued by the serenity rpg lately, and i was wondering if maybe us listeners could start a play-by-email game? I haven't played before, but I thought it might be cool.

1 Loved Owen's epic smack talk, I officially nominate Owen as the D6G official propaganda minister!
2 great interview with the Chris about Atomic Robo, love it and wanted to let everyone know you can get it on the iphone through iVerse, a great way to get some wonderful indi comics in your pocket ( The also have the 4 issue Star Trek movie prologue series which is pure awesomness)
3 We need to get some DOWII in some time, loving the game but dont have anyone I know who is in the same time zone to join for 3 on 3.
Love the show guys, you frakking rock!

Agreed, Owen's verbal beat down had me laughing so hard I almost ran off the road! A fine job of agitating, Owen.
Primer comment: I have been having great results using J.W. etc.'s "Undercover black opaque primer." It is a paint-on primer so it is not great for priming fast but I find that paint binds to it very well. Great for when the weather is humid or cold and I need to get some models primed up. Incidentally, I used it on my "Uncharted Seas" elf fleet and it performs admirably on resin too. Find it in the canvas painting section of Hobby Lobby in 8 oz. bottles.

How difficult is Bang, by the way? Could you play it with kids or would they have very little hope of winning?

Words from Wales was entertaining (although short!) this episode. Owen, the next time one of my fellow patriots gives you crap about "oh you'd be speaking German if it wasn't for us, etc. etc." - just remind him that the Russians won WW2. The US were LTTP. ;D
Another great episode. Really enjoyed the reviews. I'm currently talking to a friend about buying Bang! I also went out and bought the first volume of Atomic Robo. Sometimes the humor feels kinda...simple, but it's an entertaining read and the art style fits perfectly.

For all his aloof coolness, he alone has the Emperor's soul in his blood. Each of us carries part of our father within us, whether it is his hunger for battle, his psychic talent or his determination to succeed. Sanguinius holds it all. Another great episode guys. It really helps me get through a Monday!
I have to say, this episode was really funny, from Words from Wales to the internecine bickering during the very amusing interview with the Atomic Robo artist, I was laughing almost the whole time.
The funniest part BAR NONE was Russ qualifying his ever-growing game collection - "Game x is my sci-fi filler game, game y is my pirate filler game, game z is my Western filler game" - It's great to hear someone else rationalizing their gaming purchases. I thought the whole Wakelin system was to have 1 game of each category? If you cross-reference them with genre, then I think the combos might be endless.
Also loved the sound effects during the Bang! review.

I was waiting all weekend for the Craig vs. Scott game and ended up finding them as they were packing everything up.
I finally got around listening to the podcast today and have to say that I greatly enjoyed it. I just wish I had the money to buy the games they review. I would love to give Galaxy Trucker and Cutthroat Caverns a try. Hell, even Agricola. :-P

I missed the epic showdown as well, I was busy with my second game in the 40k Championships at the time. I heard from Scott over at the 40k Radio Booth that Craig won but did not get much in the way of detail. Hopefully we will get a detailed blow by blow in the next episode.

Oh and by the way... Thanks ever so much for the Dawn of War II review.
Thanks for reminding me that my system is horrendously old and decrepit.
That by the time I can afford to buy a new rig that would be able to run it decently, we'll be on DoW IV.
Yeah, thanks loads Russ.
Actually, I did enjoy the review. However, it's a lot easier for me to give into the old D6GJMT ( D6G Jedi Mind Trick) when I have to go buy a rulebook, boardgame, or some minis... not when I have to drop 3 grand on a new computer

Well thanks, gents. When Russ asked me how it went I just told him "I find your lack of faith disturbing."
I'll try to get a blow-by-blow battle report done up for you guys soon.
Suffice it to say that it ended on turn 5, I had 3 scoring units, all in position to take either objective, and he had one, but to get in range to contest he'd have had to come within my wolfy grasp, so he was out.
Had the game gone another turn and the Emperor himself come down to roll his dice, he MIGHT have managed a tie without a single AP3 weapon left on the table.
Luckily the Emperor fought with us that day. Bless him, and not our strength, for the victory.
Owen, I LOVED the trash talking, that whole segment had me laughing for my entire commute, with a dumb grin on my face for the rest of the day.
