Glad you won Craig, I thought the Trash Talking might have had a "detrimental effect" and caused you to crack under pressure. Good the see the 40k Radio boys getting the pasting they deserved.

My first game of Uncharted seas coming this Wed, any tips for using the Dwarf Fleet vs Orcs guys?

Jack of all games wrote:Oh and by the way... Thanks ever so much for the Dawn of War II review.

Thanks for reminding me that my system is horrendously old and decrepit.
That by the time I can afford to buy a new rig that would be able to run it decently, we'll be on DoW IV.
Yeah, thanks loads Russ.

I sympathise with this view Jack

DOW 2 was the most expensive computer game I have ever bought!
Cost me about $1100 Aust.

$90 for the game itself.
$1000 for dual core processor, motherboard, 2 gig of ram, new power supply, new (all singing, all dancing) ATI video card.

BUT, man oh man, what a great game it is.

Almost good enough for me not to whinge about having to install the Steam client to play the single player campaign. Almost.....
Surely, this is just an overcomplicated way of controlling piracy, while inconveniencing legitimate buyers?
Also means we users get bombarded with yet more junkmail. This time from steam trying to sell us more of their online content?
Lets face it, we never get enough junkmail do we?

p.s. Craig, good to hear you had the win over 40K radio.... trash talk was never actually required, was it?

Yeah, what Russ said. I'm starting to build an appreciation for trash talking. It's possible a monster may well have been born here. . .

For those looking for a battle report, here's an indept (with diagrams!) report from my blog:

Doing the write up I noticed a couple things. Firstly, Broadsides with advanced stabilization systems actually just got Slow and Purposeful, they don't just get relentless. Also, I CAN NOT figure out when the Hammerhead took his shot at my ven. dread. The Hammerhead lost his railgun in the bottom of turn two, and my ven. dread survived to the top of turn three . . . so I'm not sure exactly what happened there.

Other than that, it's all there for the world to see.

Owen, you have GOT to keep the distance from the Orc ships. They will overwhelm you as they close and then doubly so when they board. I've never beaten them with my Dwarves, but the closest I came it was all about the good old stand-bys: concentration of fire power and use of terrain. I harried the ships with my frigates and blasted the crap out of whichever Orc ship was in front of the others in the assumption that it would slow those behind it down if it was damaged.

Didn't work so well, so let me know what YOU do, and how it works for YOU!

Talk to you later, lads!

Doesn't Slow and Purposeful confer Relentless?

Edit: Thanks for beating the tau, I'm sick of those little blue buggers

slow and purposeful gives you relentless in ADDITION to slow and purposeful. ie: attack bikes are relentless: they can move their normal move and fire as if stationary. Obliterators are Slow and Purposeful: they move as if in difficult terrain AND fire as if stationary. It's a minor thing, but when you've got him down to 3 heavy weapons in his whole army, their positioning is very important.

Generally I love the Tau, actually.

not that I wasn't happy to beat them

Well, then I guess the solution is obvious! You just have to scare the sheep to make it run faster!! After all, being Welsh, I would imagine you could think of many, many ways of worrying a sheep...

Unrelated to this show but I played my first game of Battlestar Galactica last night and it was a blast! Both the wife and I were Cylons (she hid it much better than I, I was thrown in the brig before the first round was over), and of course the Cylons beat the frakk out of the humans.

My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings.
Look on My works, Ye Mighty, and despair.
