Howdy folks.
This is my first time posting here. I have only started playing 40k a few weeks ago and I REALLY like dez orks.
I was trying my hand at a Trukk and it kinda got outta hand and is actually a BW now. I have copied the main design from another I saw on the net. I thought that I would try to copy someone on my first attempt instead of trying it from scratch.
Again, I take no credit for this design. I have ripped this off of another talented ork just to see if I could do it.
I have cannibalized every single thing I can to make this thing and I am hoping for some suggestions on places to find bits and bobs to continue my new found love of the Orky things in life.
She still needs painting and a few more things to complete the orkyness of it.

Welcome to Dakka. The thing looks pretty good, hard to tell detail with the shape it's in right now. You may want to add more to the part that connects the rolla to the wagon.

Hello fellow Ork player
Well, first off, based on another person's work or not, I think you've done a great job on it. It looks pretty orky so far. In my opinion, when it comes to the Orks, there really isn't a wrong way to do things so long as you stick to the few basic tenants of Ork teknology. Big, shooty, and stompy ( or just plain killy, if you prefer). That, to me, is the greatest appeal of playing the Orks, you can have fun and do what you want and to zog wif anyone wot says udder-wise
So, that being said, I do have some suggestions, and you should treat them exactly as that, because in the end what matters is that you like this thing and you can be proud of your boyz when they're doin' some crumpin' with it
First off, a little thing that can make a huge difference in the overall appearance of a vehicle is to add rivets to your armor plates. If you don't know what a rivet is, it's basically a bolt that holds sheets of metal in place on a vehicle, look here for a little info and some pictures of them. To make rivets for your vehicle, you can use just about any thin, sturdy material, plasticard always being a good choice, but even if you have the sprues left over from a model you can cut those up into little squares and circles and glue them along the attached armor plates of the vehicle.
As for having cannibalized every thing you have, I seeeeriously doubt that For example, would you like to have some barbed wire coiled around the back of the wagon to make it boarding-proof? Grab some pipe cleaners and a lighter
(sorry it's a little blurry. I can't find my tripod for the life of me so I had to take this while standing on a chair XD But you get the idea)
These were made with pipe cleaners, a lighter, and, on the far right of the bottom one, a very high gauge floral wire (I also could not find my tweezers, and it's hard to wrap that stuff with hands as big as mine, so I only did a few. Again, you get the idea).
The top one was made by taking a pipe cleaner, flicking on a lighter, and passing the pipe cleaner through the flame until the fuzzy stuff on it burned down about 2/3rds of the way, then wrapping it around a dowel rod. It looks better once it's painted and has a little gore added with textured paint, but you can see it gives the impression of razor wire or something similar. The middle one was made by burning the fuzzy stuff completely off, and creates a similar effect. The bottom one was made by burning off all the fuzz and then wrapping small lengths of wire around it to form more traditional barbed wire. If you wanted to give your wagon more of a "battle fortress" look, putting this around the top of the back could add a lot (in case you're wondering, the left side of the middle wire was dipped in wax. I'm trying to find different ways of representing power cables and such, and this actually works pretty well if you get it on evenly, and it's easy to take off bits to make exposed wire and such. Maybe make a few power lines leading off of those barrels in the back to make them look like fuel tanks, perhaps?) As always, make sure when you're burning anything that you do so in a well-ventilated area, preferably outside, and far away from any highly flammable materials. I'm sure you and anyone else reading knows to do that, but it's always good to put a disclaimer when you're telling people to play with fire
Seriously, take a second look at every scrap of stuff, junk, garbage, and gubbins you've got lying around. You'd be amazed what you can do with a little out-of-the-box thinking Another example, if you want a little variety in your bolted-on armor, take some cardboard and peel off the outer layer of one or both sides, leaving the wavy stuff in the middle, sand it down and paint it to look like metal, and bam, corrugated steel sheets
This is just my opinion, but I think the death roller could use a few more killy bits. You could clip off bits of toothpicks or something similar to make bunches of smaller spikes, maybe sculpt bits of a corpse stuck to it, things like that.
I agree with Blessed, the pieces of wood attaching the roller to the wagon could be spruced up a bit. For starters, they're too... symmetrical. An easy way to make something look good and orky is to make major components of it from different materials, just like the Orks would. This doesn't mean you need to use different material to attach the roller, you don't even have to take off the blocks of wood. Just dress them up a bit.
Here are a couple things you could do to one or both of the wood blocks:
1. carve out the interior of it, sand it down, and paint it metal to look like an I-beam
2. Sand it down to a rough, uneven cylindrical shape, carve out ridges and add bumps along it, and sculpt roots onto one side to make it look like the orks just tore down a nearby tree and bolted it on.
3. if you want to add a little flavor or fluff to your army, cut down and paint it to look like a piece of terrain from their preferred enemy like the arch of an Eldar webway gate or a stone arch or column with something Imperium-of-Man-y written on it.
There's my input, this has dragged on way too long, sorry about that XD Like I said, it looks great so far! Can't wait to see it painted and finished.

LMAO Its good when you start out wanting a trukk and end up with a deffrolla wielding battlewagon. Now THATS nice and Orky. It also looks pretty good, which is a plus.
As for "junk" do what I do man, goto the dollar store! There are so many cheap toyz, and weird gizmos from japan/china that just makes the mekboy in you squeel! Good luck!

Thanks for the input folks its just what this young ork was looking for.
I love the input about the wood pieces connecting the roller. I am gonna try to make one look like a tree branch of some sort today. I was gonna try to put some some stuff on it to make it look like a huge mouth but it just was not working out for me.
The rivet info was good too. I already have a game plan for that. Was going to get a leather hole punch in a few days to use with plasticard.
The barbed wire idea is going into effect as we speak. Loved that idea. Here is a pic of some barbed wire I was making for terrain. I put my boss in there for size comparison. Its a little time intensive but I have the spare wire and I think it will look cool in the end.
Sorry if the pic is a bit fuzzy.
I am also gonna run some of those gas lines mentioned too.
The back part is what happens to a very old cylon raider model when it is found by an ork.
Again thanks for the input folks.

Haha! Lovin' it, great job on the tree branch
The barbed wire's looking nice. The reason I use the pipe cleaners is because they're already composed of two twisted-together wires, and I'm a horribly impatient person so I take the easy way out. And the rivets look great, it's like some mek just went to town on the thing XD
I actually bought one of those "For Sale" signs too, because I couldn't find any plasticard in stores and couldn't find anyplace online that sold it cheap. Still looking for a really good source, but so far the best I've found is miniwargaming.com, and they've also got a really good deal on GreenStuff.
Keep up the awesome work, and I'm glad my input helped

Thanks again for the input. Helps to know I am headed in the right direction. I think my brother thinks its too much. But he plays Space Wolves so what does he know about "The Ork"?
Well here it is primed.
I missed a few parts with the primer....grrr.
Also I have left that log out til the end. dont want to paint it. I also have a wood plank floor for the back that I am leaving out for now.
This one is a bit fuzzy. I was trying to show the ork wedged in that missile turret but it is not showing good. I need picture takin lessons.

I have a small question. I am starting to think it aint shooty enuff. I have the 2 big shootas on the front but I am really not sure if that is working for me. I has a thought and hoped for some more of this wonderful input.
I am thinking of adding a little something to both sides. Just wondering if it would be too much or with orks is too much never enuff.
Just kinda throught that together real fast just to see how it looked.
I put a nob in there just to see how one would fit. I could make it bigger. My biggest thought is own Shooty parts. Looking at the rules I think I am kinda maxed out unless I add zap guns or cannon type stuff and do not think that those would work there.
Any thoughts?

What kind of primer did you use? I likes the look of it And the wagon looks *GREAT* primed!
First of all, with the Orks there is no such thing as too much dakka! But you are a little limited with how many useable guns you can put on it. You've got two big shootas and two rokkit launchas, so yeah, you are maxed out on smaller guns. I really like Zzap guns on wagons, since you get the awesomeness without the risk, but with a ballistic skill of 2 you may prefer to put a kannon or lobba on it. If you went with the lobba you'd have the advantage of longer range and not have to worry about where you place it on the vehicle since it's an ordnance weapon. Dunno where you should put it since I can't see it from every angle, but I'm sure you could think of something.
Hmm... The only other ranged bit you could add to it would be a stikkbomb chukka. That'd be a good use for that side mount (which looks good by the way, I say add it if you want to), and it'd be as simple as modeling an ork throwing a stikkbomb or a little catapult full of dynamite.
Keep in mind that, since from what I can tell you've left it open top, you can just fill the thing with shoota boyz or whatever and that'd add plenty of dakka. Just checked the rules to be sure, and like I thought, since it's open topped every unit can fire rather than just from fire points (assuming they can that turn) and you get to measure range and line of sight from the hull of it.
Oh holy night, I just thought of something O.o With open topped vehicles, the shooter fires from the hull rather than from the unit itself. Imagine the havoc you'd wreck by focus-firing template weapons without having to worry about the template touching your own units, like with Burna Boyz ._.

The primer, I just found out, is not primer. I ran out of primer on my boys, nobs, truck and the use of my brother on his space wolves. So my brother bought some black Krylon camo paint to replace it. Also just found out it is flaking off his metal space wolves. It seems to be ok on my BW though. Guess I will have to read the can a little better next time. Space wolves obviously can not be trusted.
I am having all kinds of orky ideas about this thing. Since I am only a few weeks into this new addiction, I mean hobby, I am a little "huh?" about the rules. Just me and my brother playing each other and watching folks at the local gaming store play. Between me and my brother we have all the books we need I think but finding the info in them is a little like "hide and seek" some times.
With that said I think the stickbomb launcher will work for one side. I am thinking of just putting a platform behind the missile launchers and putting a Lobba on it and just make it so I can remove it if needed. If I do that it may turn it into covered though. Sides would still be open so I am not sure. I will make a ruff one and put on there and post a pic later and see what yall think.
Good solid advice so far.

ok here is the top platform and larger side platform.
Keep in mind these are just test parts not finished ones.
I like the larger side platform. Also, the red circle is fluid that leaked out of my finger after a blade mishap and not red paint.
I could take the platform in the center on and off with a lobba there. Also not sure if that would make it covered or not.

Don't let your worry about the rules get into the way of having fun. This is a game that has more in common with Silly Buggers than with Chess, so enjoy the carnage :-)
Your BW becomes a covered (=non open topped) vehicle when you says so, or when it is painfully obvious that it is covered. So if you say "This BW is open topped, it has got some extra platforms here" most players will be all fine with that.
More platforms! Make it look like a beehive on crack! :-)

What Mellon said, if you say it's open topped, it's open topped. We Orks have a ton of leeway with that sort of thing since we're pretty much required to scratch-build a lot of our stuff. Unless the person you're playing is a complete jerk they're not gonna argue with you And I wouldn't worry about it anyways, it's pretty clear that it's still an open-topped vehicle. A closed-top vehicle would be represented best by having an actual roof and sides blocking view of the riders.
And I like the platforms! If you're still going with the barbed wire, it'll look sweet to have that edging them, looping around and such.
As for the lobba or whichever gun you decide to go with, I think the platform behind the rokkits is good for it. And if there's not enough room for all the boyz to fit in the back, you can put them on the side platforms as well, or like Mellon said put on more platforms. And as for what your brother said in an earlier post about it being too much stuff, f- ... pish tosh on that! We'z da Orks! We's got da best meks dere is, and dey make da best wagons dere is! It's your wagon, you's buildin' it, and you's the one who decides wot it looks like
