Thanks again on the comments.

I was pretty worried about the painting as I have not done an excellent job on my orks but the vehicle seems to have turned out better then I had hoped.

Here are some pics of the finished side platforms.

Barbed wire turned out great, I love the whole ensemble

As for the extra platform in the back, why not? Looks pretty orky to me To think you started this thing off to be just a wartruk, and now it's like a fortress on wheels

This is awesome! Just be careful with all the extra balconies etc, or soon you won't be able to get it out the door ;-)

Seriously though. It's an impressive BW.

Is it just me, or is writing "BOOM" on a rocket kinda like writing "HA HA HA" on a clown?

I like the way it turned out, yo! The barbed wire is AWESOME!

Thanks folks. It turned out way better then I had hoped. I think I am done with this project.

I was gonna put another platform on it but I just cant make it look right. I will just have to make another one and make it more KABOOMy then shooty.

This thing is starting to look great, the painting looks good but the missiles look way too clean in contrast to the rest of the tank.

Friggin hot. This is incredible. It puts my BWs to shame. I will learn from you. In the meantime, even the learner has something to offer. Re: Barbed wire. I use the spring from my 5-subject notebook and turn that into Barbed Wire. You can usually get this stuff free. Anyway, just a tip. Looks like you don't need any tips, tho, since this puppy is underway. Want to know how you made the Rokkitz, tho. Are they from a toy or are they also scratch-built? Do tell. Thanks!

The missiles came from an old model I had in the garage. The parts holding them are from one of my sons old toys he was gonna get rid of. They just happened to fit together perfectly. I cut down an orc to fit in it.
Now that it is mentioned the missiles are a bit "pretty" for my taste. I shall be fixing that trouble asap.

Here are a few pics of missile launcher a little closer. I can not seem to get a good pic of it and it not be fuzzy.

I am currently working on another BW that can handle some BIG BOOMAs. I do not seem to have the time under my belt to come up with the stuff completely on my own yet so I am basing it on on another talented fellas work. Actually its the same fella I based the first one on.

Here is the beginning of it.

As yall may have guessed I have WAY too much time on my hands. Yes I do. Kinda got an injury that is keeping me on my butt so nothing else to do but build away.

So here are some more pics of the new one.

I know it says DOOR but it has turned into a boarding plank.

Started working on the treads here. Not sure if you can see it but there is a door in the middle there.

The boarding plank gets a meaner look.

And the boarding plank works! Woo Hoo

The start of the sides.

Gotta stop there I think. I am in desperate need of bits. Gonna have to break down and buy some.

By the way, what material are you using to make these? I'm starting orks as well, mainly a horde army, but I wouldn't mind some scratch built battle wagons to augment my armes.

An almost all-around awesome model (your first project)! The only thing that bothers me is the lack of wear and tear on the metal plates. of course, this is still WIP, so I can't really say that yet... But just some advice.

The first BW is done I think. I was a little weak on the battle damage and the missiles are a little pristine I know. These are all things I plan on fixing with BW number 2. I am making it a tank style and gonna make it more of an ordinance type.

The materials I am making this out if is simply "FOR SALE" signs I got from Lowes. I found that they had different thicknesses of signs, which are made of plasticard. I do need to find a good spot to get the round tubes and I-beams and such made out of plasticard. Everywhere I look though it is pretty pricey.

Those turrets are just sitting up there. I was just checking them out on top instead of the sides.

OK, no laughing on this one.

I am trying to figure which way to go with this thing. I am thinking that I will have doors coming in on the sides and twin Big-Shootas in the small turrets.

Now I took some scratch stuff just to see how putting a kilkannon in the front and a turret on some kind of "pole" (for interchangeable zapgun, kannon or lobba) behind it would look.

So what cha think. And objects in this image may appear larger then they are. They will not be that large if I go that direction.

Okay, first off... is this seriously your first try at using plasticard (for sale signs!?). It sounds so intimidating, but you've made it look easy, and you seem to be getting better and better at it by the minute!

I absolutely LOVE your first BW, especially those extra platforms on the side. Awesome! Also, I think you were right to leave off the higher level, it looks great as-is

For the second, it is coming along great and, again, I can't believe you're just seemingly making this up as you go along! Your rivets and little pieces look great and really orky! And you're just basically gluing this all together with standard super glue I'm guessing? With how fast you're learning it it makes me want to try it, too...

Now with all that said, I do believe those tubes are a bit over-the-top even for orks (although I know you're just kind of testing out the look of it). So, I'd say yes, go for it but size it Down a wee bit

Again incredible work and very inspiring seeing you learn as you go and put out such fun (and dam impressive!) orkiness

Thanks and yup it is my first go at it.

I am kinda using others work as guides though. But the tank one I am kinda going on my own and I am kinda at a stand still. I used every little piece I could muster in the house to make the first one. As I have just started this hobby I have no bits. Hence the title of the topic. I even threatened my son to take models he has in his room and cannibalizing them. I figured they are mine (I made them years ago) so why not. He did not see it that way. So no models for my orcs to cut up.

Guess I will be ebaying it this weekend for bits.

It is kinda funny my brother has played for years but sold all his stuff a few years ago and has gotten back in it and dragged me along with him. We went in halves on the AoBR starter set and then we both bought a few other pieces but now I am scratch making stuff and my army seems to being growing like crazy and at little cost too.

And I am having a blast doing it too. It has helped that I have had an injury to get over and have had time to sit around. That is about to end though. Do not think the wife will let me milk that any more.

Haha Stump, I know EXACTLY how you feel

I used to play warhammer, sold it all, then recently was between jobs and decided to get back into it since I had some free time. Now that free time is mostly gone and I'm also married, but I can still enjoy it, just every other weekend and a few weeknights to paint kind of thing

Don't worry about it... and awesome work looking forward to seeing more pics as you continue it!

latest thoughts.

The foam, toothpicks and straw are naturally temporary stuff to just get the feel of what I am doing.

Straw represents the kilcannon and the other lobba, zap or whatever can go in the one in the middle.

Needs some orkiness on the large, flat sides of the treads, but I'm sure you're getting to that!

Rigth now it looks a bit wider than it is longer? Maybe a big deff rolla on the front?

It'd be nice to have a gun sticking out of those little side turrets, too... and obviously a bigger gun on the main turret . But I like the shape! Another way to break it up would be to add a side platform behind the large tread (not large, maybe for just two orks) so that it gets more of the open-topped orky feel than an imperial tank

Again I'm sure you're getting to it but those are my thoughts If you wanted to make it longer you could probably add something to the back, since I just realized a deff rolla would squish any orks coming down from your (admittedly cool in its own right) boarding ramp... in that case I'd add spikes on those flat front squares to still give it a feel like it's going to ram somebody . It rumbles up, plows into the side of a tank with the spikes, the ramp comes down and the orks pour out in a green tide...

Yea, I must confess I am a little stumped. My lack of experience is showing now.

Thanks for the input. That is just what I am looking for. I think I am going to make some I-beam looking spikes coming out of the front for ramming purposes. I also have been kinda stuck thinking the thing is a bit wide. I can not get those side parts off without destroying the thing. I also kinda wish I had made the treads wider now. I had not planned on it getting so wide. But I had kind of planned on this one sorta hanging back and just lobbing shells into the mix.

I am thinking of taking those side additions and making them a sort of twin engine thing. nasty orky motor parts on them and way to many exhaust pipes coming of them. ::shrugs::
I am toying with the idea of making one side look like it is damaged from a past ramming but not sure how to pull it off. Any input would be much loved here.

Don't you dare apologize! You are a very crafty and clever orkish mek. Your work is better than what 95% of all ork crafters ever create. Bear your wrench with pride!
