I was chatting with a guy who used to be high up in GW in the early 90's and he told me a fun little secret.
At the time they based the Emperor on a real live celebrity.
So just for fun, and remembering it was the 90's..... who do you think becomes the Emporer of Mankind!
(Caveat, pretty sure the fluff has changed given that the Emporer was around in the 12th century according to Mechanicum... but for fun anyway!)

Well considering the Emperor has ALWAYS been portrayed as ancient, with much of the older fluff placing his birth at around 8000 BCE, I would have to say that "The Emperor is based off a Celeb" is a total crock of gak.
Personaly, I feel that the Emperor has been several "important" figures in history, but as he is a) Immortal and 2) has uber psi powers that can mask what he looks like we just dunno.
My personal ideas as to who he was would be Alexander the Great, Jesus (oops that one didn't work out did it  ) and 1 or 2 Renaissance Scientists.

Whether it's true or not is another issue but it's likely they had some inspiration fro somewhere.

Its more about "who do YOU think would make a great Emperor" rather then "Who did the GW honchoes think would make a great Emperor".....

How about Karl Rove?
(For anyone not familiar with the US political landscape over the last 15-20 years. Karl Rove is commonly seen as a sort of mastermind/power-behind-the-throne type of adviser for our last "wonderful" president. Although his legacy stretches back farther.

 C'mon! First off, he was even a bigger nobody in the early 90's. Second, BITE YOUR TONGUE! Chuck Norris may be old now but he was BA back in the day. He actually did stuff. Vin is just an actor.

Chuck Norris? Good guess!
Bear in mind that not only is Vin a fellow gamer, he's actually a solid actor, as well.
He just hasn't gotten too many parts that actually accentuate that... not to mention that he started in the industry as a writer, not an actor.

Some of the paintings I've seen in GW fluff of the emperor, pre-crippleing, make him look a bit like Richard Hatch, the guy who played apollo in the original Battlestar Galactica. However, the pictures of him after interment on his golden throne make him look a bit like Amy Winehouse.
