@Orlanth , have you come up with some calculation to see if its actually cheaper than MM?

I noticed the prices are 27% more expensive due to currency exchange difference. ( but they offer free shipping is it? )

i have been looking at it lightly with a rough guesstimate.

Not that any findings will help you, shipping from the US to Uk is far more than to Canada. Also the rate of exchange between the Loonie and the Euro is going to be different from ours.

To add to this I have three sets of calculations to work out:

Miniatures Market prices at special sale discount only, plus shipping to the Uk, plus depackaging chargwe plus possible customs charge of 17.5%.

CCArmoury prices for new goods only, the cheapest anywhere for non discount items at 30% off, plus depackaging charge (not to mention if they will depack at all) plus possible customs charges and shipping.

Rackham at their special offer of 50% off with free shipping for a large order and no customs for EU trade. But the Pound is real weak against the Euro at the moment.

At a glance Rackham appears cheaper for most items, though discount items at Miniatures Market are still a good deal. Pay $10 for a kolossus boxest rather than E15. The Pound is worth one and a half Dollars or one Euro give or take.

Yep, as their sales site was down for months, only re-opened yesterday without notice and was reported on same day without prior reference, and immeidately launched a 50% sale; it looked like News to me.

Rackham has abandoned their metal range and does plastic prepaint to the exclusion of their prior line.

They are doing small numbers of unpainted resin models as a supplement, in a way similar to Forgeworld but iother than that its all prepaint plastic.

Shame on you mate, dont you know Scottywan82 is over sensitive to people that dont express uber satisfaction about R? Now you made him push the ignore button again and we dont want that do we?

On a less surreal note 70 euros for a Golem seems a bit of interest killer to me, its a nice mini but not that nice.

And many of us abandoned them since then. Their game wasnt that good, but I could use the models for many different things, and were very nice. The metal ones at least....

I bought one Confrontation model, a Pythia which I used as a High Elf mage. it came with a cut down rulebook and no less than four stat cards. The rules with every blister, what a waste. I didnt like what I saw with those rules either.

AT-43 looks to me a much tighter game system and I can see an underlying quality in the gamesystem; but I will be quick to admit that Confrontation has no hold on me. Rackham appears to be a very hit and miss company.

I use a ton of them for my D&D game. They work VERY well. Especially the Alchemists for Ptolus as chaositech.

We havent been happier. But now.....beyond the flesh golem and the undead model one in resin which I will eventually get, they have nothing for me. I dont really buy into their AT-43 universe. I tried.

Prepainteds hold no interest for me.

I think Orlanth Hit and Miss comment fits rackham perfectly... They were constant for years and years with metal superb sculpts like the bastion of how hobby orientated companies should be... then released pastic abby prime kit, then PPP arrived on at43.... took over confrontation and metal canned... from skirmish to armies games, the mess with paints / hybrid/ cadwallon/ cry havoc etc... totally inconstant company at the moment... no one can say what they will be doing or supporting in 1 year from now.

THe good thing is that they cover a lot of ground and appeal to lots of diferent people... the bad is that they dont keep that audience for much time.

Personally I miss the metal minis they produced and had a tiny hope that when at43 arrived it would be also metal goodness yet its not on their plans atm so I had to look for other companies like corvus belli, PP, freebooter etc

Always sad when any full range of miniatures simply vanishes but its even sadder when that range had some of the best miniatures ever made.

Its not a debate of PPP vs metal or at43 vs confrontation or fanboy vs hateboy its really just sad to see these minis go period!

Thankfully the current game is awesome. Both C:AoR and AT-43. The models are less versitile though, true. Too bad the skirmich game did so poorly, maybe the metal models might have last longer.

Not that it matters to me. Just makes me laugh when people complain about a wicked good game like C:AoR. I miss 2nd edition 40K, yet somehow people have little sympathy. I suppose invalidating the hundreds of dollars I spent on codeices wasn't as bad as invalidating one rulebook and one supplement.

Second edition was even more insane than 3rd and 3.5. 3.5 was the clenest, but it had it's fair share of issues. The problem is skirmish games - along with making no money - need a necessarily convoluted ruleset inorder to feel like you're "doing" as much with 10% of the figures. Going to army scale was the best decision Rackham ever made.

I'm big into C:AoR, obviously, but I think what I like best about it is how it represents heroic combat. There is always a chance - no matter how slim - that you will hit and wound your opponent. Even the lowliest grunt can slay a dragon if he does well enough. And it's all about Elixir, and direct combat between incarnates... It's just cool. The skirmish game was about how to use a slide ruler and spend three hours using 12 models (if you can't both sides).
