So there was an article today that got us all talking here at Bagram...President Obama went to a Five Guys today to get some lunch. When we all started talking about it, two of my Sergeants came up with burger joints that I had never heard of, but definitely want to try out when I get back.

My question to you is, which burger joint or chain is your favorite and why, because I just can't stop thinking about delicious burgers today.

I know this will sound quite off, but I don't eat burgers. I try to stay away from most beef product. I mostly eat chicken and once in a blue moon I may have a small steak if it's a formal gathering of some sort.

I've been trying to avoid pork lately too, but when I eat breakfast with the family on Sunday morning I can't resist to eat a few little sausages with some mustard. How is ostrich? Any similarity to emu?

I love nearly all pork products, except for the really gross stuff like pickled feet and head cheese. My favorite burger joint actually isn't a part of a chain, it's few few blocks from my house, called Paul's Drive-in. I've been going there since I was old enough to go that far away from the house. Wolfburgers is a close second, but they have been plagued by a series of owners who make bad business decisions, so they're closed as much as their open. I try to stay away from the big chains, their burgers are pretty much the same, no personality.

There is a great little divey dinner called Schultz's in my home town. Great burgers on a toasted hard roll. Typeline, I'm kinda shocked you didn't include cat as one of your favorites.

Ostrich? Emu?

Huh?

Personally, I love all kinds of meat. When I go to a McDonalds or Burger King I usually get 3 or 4 burgers. The only reason I haven't died yet is probably because I go to burger joints like probably less than ten times a year. But I eat ham and turkey sandwiches on a regular basis. Very good with a couple slices of provolone.

I suspect this mainly a British thing, but do any of you ever eat mutton? It's just old sheep meat that you have to cook for ages (at least three hours) before it's soft enough to eat. It is however, delicious and one of those great foods that you can just throw into a pot/oven on a low heat and forget about while you get on with other things!

Burger-wise, i always make my own

Hmmm... how do i discribe it....

If turkey have a more chicken taste than chicken , then the ostrich have more of *that heavy taste than both of them.

sort of like bison tastes like beef, but heavier taste.

I just had a bison stick for a snack today; it's good stuff (if you remember not to overcook it).

I've never had croc but I've had alligator; it tasted somewhere between pork and chicken. It was really good, although I think it was prepared well.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

I never tried emu before , bison is samething as buffalo i believe.

Ostrich is from foreign restraunts , the bison is from BBQ specialty restraunt.
hmm... im not sure whats exotic but for (unusual ) i have been tricked to eat : frog leg , snake , snail , dolphin , ugh and shark
willingly hmm : Silkie Chicken , abalone , live lobster still moving when on table ( too cruel so only that once ) , korean raw kimchi crab .
Vancouver BC have EVERYTHING , just matter of if you want to try them or not.

@brookm , it tastes like chewy chicken. Well tastes like frog leg i guess .

DQ. I'm surprised it's not on the list up at the top.

Bison Burgers are the best, but not a chain thing.

Exotic meats wise - bear was good. Moose and venison are ok (though I prefer beef).

Well it asks for chains so of the big chains I guess Hardee's (aka Carl Jr's). Lots of smaller places around that make great hamburger sammich's though.

my vote i guess go's to a fairly local chain called Pals
the burgers are fairly cheap, huge in size, and the place has crazy awesome fries.

i had a shrimp burger from a place once....it was different.
I wounder if any place makes a crayfish/crawdad burger

Down under, we have a nice chain called Hungry Jack's. Pretty good stuff if you ask me.

Mind you, I go there mainly because McDonald's sells artery-clogging flavourless gak.

Hungry Jacks started out as a semi-independant franchise of Burger King ( as BK had no plans to expand down-under at the time.)

The logos are (apart from the words) identical. (name inside burger bun). They also have whoppers and stuff. Still, BK don't do the egg & bacon burger with beetroot. BK and HJ are more or less interchangeable.

I like Burgerlicious. coz the burgers are just better.

In general I avoid "chain restaunts" whenever possible, but if push comes to shove I'll go to burger king.
Localy, the best burger I've had since I moved to GA. is tied between "spice it up" which is a little hole in the wall mom&pop place, and "Marrietta Diner".
However, the best burger I've ever had was back home in New Orleans at Cafe Mesperros,if any of you guys ever travel to New Orleans I highly recomend you try one.
