I am doing a comission job on these and want to put up a P&M blog on it for the customer to see the progress and to bring you guys on dakka on the journy as well !

What is wanted is for them to be taken up to a higher level get some table pop some runes and just an over all face lift . I worked on them for a bit tonite , since it was game night at my club however I didnt get to far in but I like how it is going to turn out with the scheme I have planed and what was talked about with the owner .

here is whats happening with the heads



The heads on the wraith guard are going to get hit up with a gloss varnish while the rest will stay matt , except for the gems they will have some shine as well .

Wow, I actually really like that scheme, and the heads do look a lot like bone!

The pics are real dark and a tad green, anyway you can balance that out, brighten them up?

Yes I do have to make a light box , I have no lamps in my apartment for some strange reason lol .

Anyway for the most part the Wraith guard is pretty much done just have to paint the base and add some static grass . A unit of these are going to look sweet .

Nice. I'm liking the look of these. They are really starting to pop. I see yoiu did a lot of work on the wraithcannons as well as the heads.

Thought it might be cool to add a flame to the helmet , this is just a mock up .

Well this is it pretty much done with minor fixes here and there , I chose to go with a redish gem rather than the green I felt it went better with the grey and bone .

After speaking to the client it was decided that no static grass was going to be used so I came up with the idea of glowing rocks for the base .


this will be it for pic til the unit is done , now that the first one is complete the others will now go into assembly line painting mode to get it all done .

mmmmmm sweet tea from Mcdonalds , perfect to get me moving .

I really like the work you've done here so far. The streaking in the bone and the glow of the rocks are ace, and inspiring.
Almost makes me wish I'd chosen to start Eldar instead.

Did the client give you any more to paint for him? or was it just the Wraithguard? I'd love to see how you would do up some Eldar vehicles.

The client has a whole army that will arrive part by part as soon as he can afford the detailing, lol. There are three wave serpents, one falcon and four wraithlords in line to be done next.

I think the flames would be very nice if they were a brighter shade of purple, just IMHO. Very very nice work though, i love the bone.

Hey thanks for the kind words it keeps me inspired , yes the flames could have been brighter but it was just a test mock up just to see how the flames would fit on the helm , in the end the client and I decided the plain bone went better for what the over all look of the army will be. Like .

I like the bone coloring on most of the wraithguard model, but the helmet strikes me as off. The streaks just dont do it for me. I dont think that a dome like that would have wear in the pattern you have painted.

On most of the model you seem to have accounted for the shape in your weathering, the bone gun and the blue on the body are excelent, but on the helmet they just seem abit slapdash.

they do look rather nice, definately autonomous, i always think more people should paint waith gaurd as they would vehicles but, yours are nice too =D

I think you are right, the plain bone looked cooler imo.

The whole thing looks great. Very nice work. This is a great example of how doing a test before painting the entire army is a smart thing to do. The red gems looked significantly better than the green, just because they matched better. The glowing rock looks cool too.

i really like that, almost, almost makes me want to collect eldar, how did you get that kinda of stripey but still mixed look for the heads? minus the varnish that is, it looks really good

seconding vaako's call for a tutorial. I have been looking to do exactly that style of wraithbone on my own models!

Why did you add the light colours? They looked SICK before that...all that shadowyness...made them look...wraithlike...

Here is The first unit done about to be sent back to its owner .

Here is a quick pic of the warlock before I packed them up for shipping .

Got in some more stuff for this job , wraith lords tanks and more wraith guard along with some more warlocks and other odds and ends .

Was asked to make 3 wraith lords out of 4 that was sent , 3 plastic ones and one metal , was given a load out spec for each . Had to do a little conversion on this first one since I only had the metal bright lance from the older one .

They where all built so I had to tear them down a bit repose them a little .

looks great. The original green gems looked a little over the top, but these brown/orange gems look great.
