I listen to a local radio station that plays rock: no TVs, no DVDs, no iPods, just an old boombox.

I either have the tv or radio on just for background noise. Sometimes i have the music blaring and rock out.

I listen to TV. Generally the History Channel (Hitlerstory Channel), Military Channel. Today it's NFL preseason games.

I listen to some coldwave industrial (mostly instrumental) music and industrial ambient or industrial orchestrial stuff. I also like to listen to some aggrotech music as I imagine it to be what "Pound" sounds like (from Eisenhorn).

I also like to watch something mindless and funny that I have seen ad nauseum such as The Simpsons, Futurama or Invader Zim.

I flip through the TV channels for a bit until I find a documentary I'd be interested in, then let that play while I work. A lot of them don't require you to look in order to get what's going on. I also like to think that engaging my mind keeps the paint fumes from killing it faster.

Thats cool I see ive got alot in common with people, il do the history channel things and classic rock, like def leppard, but ive done my best when spongebob is on and i listen to stuff like shinedown, its weird

Audiobooks (I get a lot from librivox.org), Podcasts (Yog Radio, Loading Ready Run), RPG Recordings (RPGNow and Yog-Sothoth), Audio Lectures (there are quite a few free ones), DVD Commentaries, DVD without Commentary, Music.

Usually in that order of preference

Not really... well I am sober for the small stuff but I will have a few when i have to do the pants of 50 guardsment, then the arms of 50 guardsmen, ect... the repetitive stuff requires some beer to give you the sense of whatever, lets get it over with.

Since I have kids I only find time to paint in the evenings. I usually listen to TV. When I can choose its always discovery channel. But when my wife is home and its 22:00 I have to listen to "Law and order". I actully can follow this series without the need of seeing whats going on. The story and all conversation is extremly redundant in this series soo I am starting to wonder what kind of people the story writer is aiming for...

Music,DVDs watched a entire season of Battlestar Galactica when I was painting my Beserkers,watched first 7 episodes of Bleach when I was putting together and painting Uruk Hai.

Usually listen to Symphonic Power Metal when painting.

Since I'm highly obsessive-compulsive, I wash my hands about 753 times before, during, and after a typical paint session. Does that count as special? Maybe if you mean the type of special that's in the Special Olympics.

Hardcore and House, i drum so half the time it makes me start tapping with my brushes, very annoying when your trying to get some troops done in a night

Need music aswell, anything along these lines are fine: Drum n base, hardcore, trance, dance, rave.

I don't know why, but when I paint I have to take my glasses off and hold the miniature right up to my face. I can see fine with my glasses on, but the other way just feels right.

No session is ever EXACTLY the same, but I would have to say that usually listen to music or the History channel in the background while sipping a couple of beers or a few glasses of scotch. This method tends to get me in a great mood and my hands don't shake as much.

I actually do ok. Drinking helps me decide when it is time to stop painting. Once I start to glob it on and find I am making silly mistakes I wouldn't usually make, I decide that I have had "one too many." Then I clean up and go to bed.
