I have been working on an Ork fortress to use on my realm of battle board while playing planetstrike. I wanted it to be modular so that it could scale with the game being played and take on various roles

I started off by tracing the tops of the hill sections of the ROBB onto paper. I transfered the pattern onto mdf and cut out the shapes with a jigsaw to create bases that fit the hill perfectly. I used foam board and bits of HD foam I had lying around to build the buildings. The largest section has an Ork indomitable fortress. I still have to add detail and probably weapons to finish it off but its getting there





The other section is a weapons platform/refueling station





I am planning to have another section with an entrance gate and a final section with a Deffkopta Airbase. I will update with further sections as they are made.

I would love to hear suggestions

The main Keep of the fortress was built a few weeks ago for use in a Planetstrike game. I was waiting for the release of the 2 x Bastion box set so I knocked up this Foam card one and sprayed it blue just to add a bit of colour (and to match the colour scheme of my sons SM army)

Here are some shots of the 2 other sections

The Deffkopta Landing/Crash Pad. This will also incorporate a Mek shed. The Anti-Aircraft gun turrets are from a resin WWII kit I picked up last year. I will be adding some sort of Air traffic control tower and a lot of Ork junk in the shed.




Here is the Main entrance to the Fortress. I still have a ton of detail to add to the whole thing and of course litres of paint will go into the final product but all in all Im pleased with the way it is progressing.

It looks so simple yet so great, good job keep it up.

I love the platform n the second pic with the "Orky Gob" battlements!

By "Modular" I mean that the Fortress has been built in 4 sections that sit on the 4 individual sections of the Realm of Battle Board Hill. The sections are able to be place together to create a Mega-Fortress or can be used individually on the separate Hill sections or even scattered across the board on any flat area. I am probably going to spread them out a bit and mingle them with my other Orky buildings for City fight games and bring it together for Apoc and XL planetstrike games

Its taken me a little time but I have finally gotten the fortress primed and ready for some colour. I have also started work on a few smaller buildings. These started life as CNC Miniature scenery sand range buildings and i have added a few bits and pieces. at the moment I am thinking this will develop into an Ork themed City of Deff

My Ork Army has a Red white and black theme (supporting the St Kilda Australian Rules Football club) so I think I will stay with the rusty/red oxide base colour and add white to the "Teef" on the battlements and a bit of black here and there

In the final picture, showing everything together in orange, it looks really really good. Would be a delight for anybody to have their army inhabit/invade that.
