I've just finished a few more minis for a classic Praetorian guard army. Here are a few of them.

As always, any kind of commentary is welcome.

I did a little too many for this post, so you can see more guardsmen and more pics at my Praetorian Gallery.

both models are really nice and the painschemes are flawless. The only issue i have is partly to do with the primaris psyker model itself, but i suspect the hair colour you chose doesn't help. His eyebrows just look totally OTT

but beautiful models and an example of how newer and olde rmodels can still be painted similarly and still look good together.

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

Yes, the Primaris Psycher has Epic Eyebrows.

I can't help but like that sort of thing, though. I'm a sucker for the over the top expressive faces.

haha you must have loved last years blow up doll space marine captain.

Out of interest did you ever get a chance to see 'the Battle of Little Big Toof' diorama?

it was a must for preatorian fans, pity i think they chucked it.

I didn't get to see Little Big Toof in person, but I did get to see the photos featured in White Dwarf. Pretty nice stuff.

The Praetorian tanks didn't look like mine, they were a lot closer to Tallarn or Tau coloring. Like they actually wanted to avoid being seen by enemy bombers.

Yeah Right- around here we don't wear bright red for nothing!

Great job, I personally love the Primaris Psyker, the eyebrows give him a crazy "My Brain'll fry your alien butt" look, which is perfect. Lets see some more!

Hey, nice Praetorians! I really like the Primaris Psycher. The tabbard thing between his legs looks really nice. Shame i can't see the back of his coat. His Head is amazing.

Your other mini's are really good too!

How long did it take to paint the Psycher?

Of course, as an American, that means I must say that soccer sucks, and football (real football... you know, the one where you do everything with your hands) is 10,000 times as good. I mean, football players could probably beat up soccer players, even, because they actually know sports.

Oh, and to answer some questions, I think the Psyker took me somewhere between an hour and a half to two hours to paint. I tend to do things pretty fast.

The eyebrows on the psyker totally make the mini. Well done.

really likeing the paint job and the walk down oop lane.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I don't think I cared for them before I watched Zulu! I find it difficult to watch that film without wanting to start a Praetorian force.

Really awesome job on some fantastic old models.

What you really need now is some Kroot armed with spears and we would have the start of a nice little diorama...

Really nice work there, these are some of the finest Praetorians I have ever seen.

You have a lovely finish on the figures, that nice dark inky quality to the shading gives them that gritty look while being brightly coloured. I've always liked the Praetorians and it's such a shame they gave them shuch a short release.

I saw the Battle for Big Toof myself at Warhammer world many years ago. I've not been since their last big change around, but I was disappointed when they stopped the tours of the old museum, which was full of old models and huge dioramas, and the area which was full of large, near life size, models of Marines and orks.

My wife is popping into my parent's next weekend, I'll ask her to bring up the photos I took there.

Definitely post those photos. I only ever saw Big Toof in the White Dwarf photos. They were mostly detail photos, and it gave me the impression that the diorama was huge.

I took some wide shots, but a few close ups too, such as the fighta bomberz and the Baneblade. It was fairly colossal, all their dioramas were. It's probably been nearly 10 years since I saw it, as I think I was 15 at the time so my memory may be cheating, but I think it was easily 10'x10'.

Well, I think that a lot of the world was bigger when I was 15. But from what I saw, 10'x10' sounds about right.

Would love to see the photos, if they ever get digital-ised. All I have ever seen of it is the couple of close-ups from the 3rd ed. IG codex, and the original White Dwarf article (issue 100 and something?).

Thanks.

You know, Praetorians have gotten a lot of love/hate over the years. People are either totally in love with the minis and concept, or they totally hate the idea of "redcoats in space."

I'm on the love side, myself, but I can see the argument against them.

My wife is stopping off at my parent's on the way home at the end of this week, I'll get her to bring up the photos. I used to scan photos into the computer which takes absolutlely ages but now I think I can just photograph the pictures with the digital camera and they'll come out fine. If I get them, I'll put them all up at the weekend.

The painting on them really isn't a patch on yours though. I think they were done by staff painting them around the country and sending them to HQ and quantity is the priority. I wonder what happened to them all because the display isn't out any more. Interestingly I think the layout of the battle changed between visits. I think the buggies on the hill were in a different position compared to the rest of the scene on a second visit, as the display had been moved around the room.

The baneblade is massive though. Huge compared to the model we have now.
