Why has the CCS got regimental standard if they are using sniper rifles away from the action? Also you don't want your CCS in combat, they will get battered.

i play a lot of house missions and there is night fight in a few and this is list is for a tourny that uses those mission and i really didnt know what else to spend the points on

It's kind of a pain to read lists like that when you just copy and paste from Army Builder. Might be nice to just type out the pertinent data (unit, upgrades, cost) rather than cause unnecessary eyestrain!

As far as your list is concerned, I've found sentinels to be hit or miss. Best performance I've ever gotten from them was Scout Sentinels with Autocannons. Granted they're a tad more expensive than the vanilla multilaser ones but S7 AP4 is so much nicer, even with one less shot. Outflank them, pop some rear armour then sit them somewhere in cover and blast away at the things that come to kill you.

If that's not your style, I'd recommend more Valkyries. Yeah they're big, but there's not much out there that can pop a tank at range like a Vendetta (even AV14) and really nothing that can lay down two large blasts after moving 12" like a Valkyrie with MRP. Plus they can both deliver meltavets to your opponent's soft underbelly or be scoring for last minute objective grabbing.

It's no wonder the kit costs $60.

Also, Heavy Flamers on the Chimeras. Much more helpful since you're using them to deliver meltavets. Bastonne is a ripoff. Go with Harker if you want a character. He's a badass. Give his squad an AC or second HB and 3x snipers or grenade launchers. Then infiltrate them into a nice 4+ cover save building (which becomes 3+ with Stealth) and dakka away to your heart's content.

I like this one much better.

I'm not quite sure the HQ is legal. I think you may need to drop a sniper rifle if you have a vox caster.

For your infantry blobs it might be nice to see a few autocannons or missile launchers instead of sniper rifles. If you're planning on giving a lot of 'Bring it Down' orders to them (which I assume you are, since you've got your vox network set up) it might be nice to have a bigger punch just in case. Then again, you'll need to scrounge up the points from somewhere.

I'm not a fan of the Punisher... though with Pask he might be useful. If you want sit still uberdakka I would go with an Executioner with Plasma Sponsons. It'll save you 30 points or so to put elsewhere and you're still getting 5 small S7 AP2 templates at 36". Much more useful imo.

Ill have to check the the options for the HQ and the vox but army builder didnt catch it but army builder has been wrong before

As for the Punisher i think its one of the most underrated Leman Verriants because sitting as is she has 29 St 5 shots at bs 4 with Pask it will mow alot and really it all comes down to the dice lol

Im going to run the army through its paces this weekend and ill get back to you on what preforms and whats a dud

The one BIG problem with this list, in my opinion, is that your two platoons are not going to be much use. BS3 sniper rifles rarely kill anything. Most people would say that for cheap firepower, grenade launcher and autocannon is the best combo for an infantry squad. But whatever you do, don't leave home without a heavy and a special weapon.

A good way to save points for this would be the voxes. If you blob your squads up, one vox can serve the whole unit. If you run all 10 infantry squads seperately, well, your force only gives 4 orders a turn, so you'll never benefit from all the voxes. You could cut 4 voxes from each platoon, get 40 points to spend on guns, and have much greater firepower from those units.

Sniper rifles don't really do a lot, and it will keep the squads static, this will lead them to be out of range for issuing orders.

When I usually plan to bring snipers, I either go find some ratlings or I put the snipers in my CCS. Ratlings are pretty good snipers (infiltrate, stealth). Take them and park them in a tower in the center of the map or somewhere else equally annoying.

Well ive tested it out and it work really well the Punisher was my MVP with the Sentinals as a close seconed but either way ive made on final change to the list

Glad to hear the sentinels did the trick, but I'm still surprised about the Punisher.

Maybe I just have bad luck or maybe I'm just not using it correctly but in 10 or so games it hasn't come close to earning its points. I'm thinking this has a lot to do with me going up against either SM or CSM 80% of the time.

Out of curiosity, what army were you fighting and how did it earn MVP? I'd really like it to work out because love the model and fluff... just not the performance!

I was fighting CSM and in the first turn it wiped out an entire 10 man tactical squad and after that it went against 3 obliorators and it did take 2 turns to kill them so by turn 3 it had killed 460pts worth of chaos and on turn 4 it finished off 3 plauge marines and turn 5 it did nothing but most things were dead and thats where the game ended but I did roll really well with Pask drivin it around i avaraged about 20 hits and 12-15 wounds and the dice just seemed to like me lol and it took about 6 lascannon hits to its front armour and 4 to its side in the end it all came down to Pasks BS 4 and you just cant roll enough saves from that kind of fire power

Yes they are and thats what those squads do there fire bases no to much can survive that kinda fire power even at long range my lasguns still put out 84 shots with the first rank Fire second Rank fire so that comes to roughly about anywhere between 40-50 hits maybe more and 20-30 wounds depending on toughness try taking troops throught that even 2+ Termies cant survive that for long so yes they sit there and make them selfs look threating while the rest of the army does mean things lol

That sounds like a combination of really good and really bad luck, respectively.

I'm not big on mathhammer but I think you're right that 29 BS 4 shots should result in about 20 hits and if it was mostly T4 enemies, you should get about 14 wounds. But with a 3+ save shouldn't the marines have saved at least 8 of those wounds? Failing at least 10 of them (3 on models that only had to roll one die) is pretty terrible rolling I'd say. I also don't really understand why if it was first turn, his marines weren't in a Rhino, or how you would have 24 inches of range on them while remaining stationary?

Also, I don't see how the Obliterators anywhere near you unless you were charging across the field at full speed and then you wouldn't have been able to fire all your shots. If you moved the first turn and only fired one HB along with your Punisher (which would make the marines failing 10 saves even crazier!) and then moved again in turn 2 that means he set up his oblits within 36 inches of you - way too close! (The Night Lords player I play against has his sit in the far back and slaughter things quite happily.) Sounds like he must have rolled pretty poorly on his 2+ saves as well.

10 Lascannon hits that never penetrated your armour - since you were apparently never shaken or stunned - is also something rather epic.

I'm not saying that the battle didn't go the way you said it did (believe me, I've seen stranger!) but I don't know if it would be wise to take this as a 'normal' performance for the Punisher. I've played with it many times and it's been okay some matches, disappointing most, and never amazing enough to justify its cost. I'm glad you got some great use out of it - long may it continue! - but I have a feeling you might be disappointed in your Punisher's future performance if you judge it by this game alone.

Im giving the list another run here in the next few days ill give you an update for the results and as for the marines yes they were in a Rhino but a Vet squad got to them first and destroyed there transport as for the Obliterators he did have them a little close then he should have

I think I'd shoot myself if I saw that many of my marines die to STR 5 AP - firepower haha, that's awesome.

About your command squad, you cant give a Guardsmen with a Vox a Sniper Rifle as well.

And a question of modelling really, how do you model your shotguns? Did you buy the FW kit?

I gave a few of my veterans shotguns and just snipped off the muzzle and ammunition clip on the lasgun but if there's a better, more convincing way to do it outside of the ridiculous FW prices, I'd love to see it =D

Yes i am starting the conversion of lasguns into shot guns the way you did but im going to be adding a larger barrel to make it look more shotgunie lol and the top list is no longer valid ive dropped all snipers from the list for the time being

Well met, good sir!

I've got a shotgun conversion from another Dakka member that is simple, looks ace, and doesn't require ridiculous FW prices (though does require a lasgun and a flamer for each shotgun...). Thanks to Lifeofshan!



He basically cut off the flash suppressor portion of the lasgun, separated the twin barrel portion from the main lasgun housing, cut a notch in the main lasgun stock, cut out the end of a flamer, reversed it, and stuck it in between the stock and barrels of the converted lasgun.

I love the conversion and I'm hoping to get a full squad of vets sporting these soon! The only problem is finding enough flamers, but that's not terrible if you have other friends who play IG and are willing to trade you.

Great idea for the shotgun, I give it a go, like yourself I think the FW price is ridiculous, though I do like the figures.

On the talk of the Punisher, I have a white scar army and i've had 1 mow down a 9 man bike squads and wipe a 9 man bike squad with Captain on bike the following turn till the Captain put a Relic blade to the rear armor
