I ordered something from eldritchgames.com on the 24th september i still haven't recieved my order. I tried sending an email to see what was up and if they had what i ordered in stock. I got no reply. I checked my account to see if they had taken my money only to see they had taken the £45 twice?!?! I rang the number on there website and it said it was unavailable or disconnected.
What the hell do i do? I can't get in contact with them, i have no miniatures i ordered and to top it off they have taken £90/$145 of me!
Has the company folded, if they have can i get my money, who do i contact?!?!
If anyone lives near here:
22A First Floor
Guildhall Shopping Centre
Exeter
Devon
EX4 3HW
Would you know if its still there?
Any help would be gratefully apreciated!

I did use paypal, but the money has already been taken out of my account. Ill try and look on Paypal though.
I've tried ringing the shopping centre too to see if the shop is there but i can't get through there either.
They have a calender on there site though saying they're running things like trading card tournaments etc throughout October 2009.

Ring up BT and ask if the number has been suspended for any reason.
Ring up the Guildhall Shopping Centre and ask if Eldritch Games is still trading.
Once you have discovered if they are still there, you can plan what to do.
If the company has gone into receivership you can contact the receiver and ask for your money back. However, you almost certainly won't get all of it because there will be other creditors with priority.
If you paid by PayPal the best thing is to file a non-delivery report and get a refund.

Just work with Ebay to get refunded. Open up a dispute and state that the product was never received, they will take it from there. I've had 3 disputes in the past and all three the charges were reversed.

Ha ha that made me smile. Oops...
To clarify i purchased of a online store that offered paypal as a payment method.
I got through to the shopping centre and i spoke to a guy who said he would give the shop owner my contact details and then he'll phone me. So the shop exists, its still there so hopefully ill get it sorted.

I think you meant figuratively. [/nitpick]
That said, Paypal does have an option for you to cancel payment for non-delivery, as I understand it. Kilkrazy's suggestions sounded good too.

Yeah im kinda not too bothered about my grammar at the moment, or my maths.
I can't see the cancel option. I guess that's because the money has already been taken out of my account.

Also give them some benefit of the doubt with regard the order dispatch (not with taking twice the amount from your bank though...) due to the postal strikes we've been having.

Oh yeah of course, I'm just a little angry they didn't say "You may have to wait a while till we send out your order as we don't have the item stocked". I just want to know what the deal is. Yeah the postal strike did spring to mind.
But not replying to email's and not having a phone connected is rather unprofessional - well, to me at least.

You can still dispute the Paypal payment for non-delivery. Try to find that in the details of your transaction and open a dispute. You cannot cancel the payment if they have recieved it but you can dispute it. The funds will be on hold until the other party responds. If they respond with the appropriate documents showing they sent your items, then the funds will be released to the seller. If they fail to prove they have sent the item, you money is returned to your account.

Um, "literally" == figuratively, didn't you check?
Anyhow, I hope the OP paid by credit card - then just do a chargeback.

I can only wish you luck Slappy. Paypal give you 40 days to get back to them. Are you still in that time frame?
On words:
A literal interpretation of the Bible means that people believe the Creation story and all other stories in the bible as having occurred as written.
When the Bible is read figuratively, it means people read some of the work as symbolic instead of exact representations of what occurred in the past.

If you linked your paypal account to a credit card you may have the option of doing a chargeback through your credit card company. That should only be used if paypal cannot or will not get your items or money back for you.
Also, here in America ripping someone off through the mail is fraud and may constitute a federal felony. You might talk to a legal savvy friend about your local laws. Im sure there is an equivalent in your country.
It makes for an impressive bargaining chip when someone is willfully holding your money or items via mail.

I've said this before, and I hope I'm wrong....
Paypal will only offer you a refund if the item was purchased on ebay! I found this out the hard way, whle going through a very similar situation.
Paypal, will allow you to commence a dispute, however, they only facilitate a communication stage! This is pretty worthless, as the reason why you're considering a dispute, is because comms have broken down...go figure!....anyway, as soon as you declare that comms are not working, and wish to take the dispute to the next stage, this is when you find out that Paypal is NOT your friend!
Advice, whether its through Paypal, or in general online shopping, always use your credit card! never direct debit...in this case, your credit card company could cancel the payment, regardless of paypal and their useless methods.
What I will say though, if this company is still trading, which it seems they are! The Trading Standards are the people to call.....look into that, it will end their pirating days, and possibly get your products or money back!

Since the shop is still open, it is most likely that the order will be fulfilled.
Under UK law, a postal trading company has 28 days to deliver.
Any good company tries to overachieve greatly on this -- it's not unusual to receive goods the next day if they are lightweight.
I think what's happening at the shop is the guy running it is just inefficient or needs more staff to pack orders and so on.
It's surprising how much effort is needed to get boxes and padding, make up parcels and find time to get to the post office, when you are also trying to run a retail outlet.
All of that is not a valid excuse, of course, just a reason. The worst aspect of everything is the total lack of communication from the show owner.

Yeah its the communication that has got me upset because i cant contact them to sort out the double payment issue. I thought they would have made the effort to ring me after the guy at the shopping centre said he would pass my details over. But then again, can i rely on that guy to give my details over, he may have forgot. It's just so frustrating. I would have gone there personally but its like a 188 mile journey...my maths is correct on that one.
EDIT - I just got an email saying i had been refunded the extra £45 they charged me! Im very happy. Although no information on the order taking so long. I assume they are just extremely busy!

Yup. Small shops are frequently disorganized like this.
It's very common for customer communication to suffer if they're understaffed/overworked/disorganized, but it's really critical to get it done for any kind of professional company. It's the cornerstone of customer service.

A minor aside, if you ever have any problems on eBay and pay with PayPal, you'll get your money back 99% of the time. I work at a place that mainly uses eBay and we get screwed a lot by people who can't read the damn description. We sold a guy an old computer joystick, new in box. We had pictures, listed model and number, and that it connected to a computer through a Joystick port. We received a negative feedback saying "this won't work on my computer, it's too old" and PayPal refunded him, leaving returning it up to him. On top of that, sellers can no longer leave negative feedback on buyers. What the F ever.

This information does not coincide with things I've seen.
I Administrate on Bartertown, and I've seen people get money back from trades gone bad, when they paid with PayPal.
Not often, granted, since the seller usually empties the account before the buyer is aware of what's happened... but I've seen it.
