Here's my next project.

This Farseer is my first attempt at a non-dry brushed white. It came out ok, but any suggestions are appreciated!

Your a brave man for doing the white first, but its looking great so far!

Yeah, totally brave to work on white and make it look great like that. What approach did you use?

The white was done with about 15~ layers beginning with Shadow Grey, and working up through Space Wolf Grey and finaly to Skull White.

As to doing the white first.... I did a big "DOH!" when I realized I was painting green next ><. Guess I'll just have to be very carful!

Ok, so I'm going to try to use NMM on this guy if I can figure it out! I've done a test for silver NMM on a Warlock I had sitting around, and I need some serious criticism/suggestions on how to make this better! Thanks in advance!

Silver NMM Test:

From what i can tell that looks good. It just needs some highlights on the edges of the blade. But i am no expert.

I think we need to see a few more photos at different angles because the light could be playing tricks. It looks very smooth with the transitions though! so all good.

I love this model by the way. One of my favourite GW sculpts.

Silver NMM Test:

NMM require a very sudden contrast between the brightest color and darkest color.

Ok... The NMM gold is proving to be incredibly difficult. So its going to wait for another model.

Working on some different areas now. I'll get an update up in a few.

The color palette you picked rocks - the contrast is fantastic.

You had me up to the black. Great technique, all the same.

@ Manchu - I'm not to sure of the black either. More than anything it was really a test of how I would do black in the future... This model has been many tests! First time shading white this way, first time shading black this way. An attempt at NNM. Its coming out pretty well for being a guinea pig!

Meanwhile, here's a new update!

Shading black is a problematic venture. I think black armies (like BT) are GW's answer to people who hate painting. Well, that's their old answer. Their new answer is 'Ard Boyz. Anyway, are you thinking of any rune details on his cloak. As pretty as that white is, it's a waiting canvas. The NMM came out very well IMO.

I am planning on doing something with the cloak, just not sure what yet!

Its not NNM >< I gave up when I tried to test gold. Thats actually Tin Bitz, Dwarf Bronze, Chainmail with a Devlin Mud wash ;;

Update time again!

Almost completed! I'm not going to have time to do the design on the cape that I want to, but it'll get done soon enough. There's a squad of Dire Avengers that has to get done first! :-P
