This post has changed several times due to revisions of my thinking and my actual collection. I currently have 1 1/2 companies of my own chapter, Sol Templars, but I wanted something more. I played around with some space wolf and blood angel lists but just couldnt get the feel. So, after long hard work, I have decided to create the Nemesis Legion, a successor chapter of the Dark Angels.

Creator Note: The Nemesis Legion has fallen to chaos, been declared traitors, blah blah blah... As you will see on page 2, I describe why this project has been stopped and renamed, etc. I wil be removing the terminator pictures and adding in my gallery of dreadnoughts, some finished, some in progress. I have found it is easier to stick with one chapter then making two. So for the rest of this blog, you will see my army of dreadnoughts and a few interesting designs I have in store.

I posted a fur tutorial on my site that may help. Click Here

Also, one thing you could try, but is a bit advanced if you aren't solid on Greenstuff, is to make a press-mold for your lion icon.

Start off by sculpting a lion symbol. I would modify a space wolf one that was easily accessible, and on a bit you don't mind gumming up with GS should it go poorly.

Once this sculpt is fully set up, and done give it a thin layer of vaseline.

Take fresh GS, and press it onto the lion head. Once this is set up (give it 2-3 hours) pluck it off the original.

with a brush apply a tiny bit more vaseline into the mold (the bit you plucked off the lion head original).

Mix up some new GS, and press that into the mold. Let that cure, pull it out, and you have a copy of the lion head. You can then trim, sand and apply to tanks, or what have you. If you are able to pull off a small one, you could stick it onto shoulder pads. The curved surface could make this tricky.

Well as promised here is my first model, still in build stage. I still need to add on black lion icons, armor up the legs and work some more on the base. Also I still need to figure how I want the legs final position as well as the weapon arm.

I included a pic of the undercarriage of the dreadnaught body if anyone was interested with how I worked the leg supports.

So let me know what you think.

As an extra note, I plan on beefing up the legs with armor to "hide" the chicken legs.

I think once you buff those legs up it'll be right and intimadating to see marching at you!

Good job!

"They shall be my finest Cannon Fodder, these men who give themselves to me. Like clay I will mold them and in the furnace of war they will become cracked and broken. They will be of tissue paper and whimpy muscle. In tissue paper armor I clad them and with the mightiest flashlights they will be armed. They will be touched by every sort of plauge or disease to help further make them unhappy, all sickness will blight them. They will have almost no tactics, strategies, but lots of machines so that they can atleast stand up to a foe in battle. They are my tar pit against the Terror. They are the bulk of Humanity. They are my Imperial Guard and they will know much fear!"

Probably. I besides the leg armor, I need to give him the appearance of more weight. I have a few items Im looking at attaching...to include a plasticard tabbard.

I'll be eagerly following this - I've been thinking about trying out a lion-themed Space Marine army sometime in the distant future, after I get my Guard army up and running. For what it's worth, I've heard that there is some usable lion iconography available in some of the Empire stuff for Warhammer Fantasy, but I haven't checked that out yet.

Make sure that you bulk up the legs and generally add weight in proportion to one another: at the moment, he looks top-heavy as well as spindly, and I assume you want to fix both of those.

It is a really nice concept, however, as is the idea of the chapter. I can't wait to see more.

Okay dropped the earlier concept and revised it. Please read fluff above. I also got rid of the chicken walker and made a rough mock up of the future of my dreadnaughts. Also included are the Terminators making up my "count-as" Deathwing force. Enjoy and C&C welcome.

Mortis Pattern Dreadnought w/ 2x Twinlinked Autocannon
Mortis Pattern Dreadnought w/ 2x Twinlinked Lascannon

Obviously that isnt a tournament legal list but it is a list of my full assembled army...and hopefully painted soon list. I have figured out with deathwing, I can field 6 terminator squads and belial for a tourney.

Here is another update on my WIP. This is my second dreadnought. I have a lot of little work to do on him. I plan on having a couple of ammo feeds running off the assault cannons (similar to the SM heavy bolter) running to the "back pack". Also intend to add something under the left leg to show it striding over or stomping on. Let me know what you think.

Terminator Librarian for size comparison.

Dreadnought Chaplain from my Sol Templar Chapter for size comparison.

Zoids and Battletech!?! Man, not what I was going for, oh well. Going to stick with it, however I wont have any updates for a couple weeks as Im heading home for vacation. Though I am of course taking mini's with me to paint.

As it stands with the army I have 53 terminators and 2 dreadnoughts. 1/3 of ther terminators are painted.

That is without doubt the best dred I have ever seen. The pose, the legs and the weapons mounts are all fantastic. Shown next to a normal dred, it seems at least one and a half times as high: this makes it undeniably cooler, but may lead to line of sight issues?

Line of Sight issues? meaning my opponents will have easier time targeting him? Or he will have a hard time targeting?

I just LOVE that four-legged monster!

Well, it'll be easier for the Dred to draw Line of Sight to targets, and harder for models to claim cover against it.

This is, of course, balanced out by him being a huge friggin target, and thus much easier to pick out and much harder to hide behind cover.

I'd say it will all balance out =)

Well about to move in about a week so no painting, heading to North Carolina, so about 2 weeks or so before I update with painted pics.

Im standing at 58 total terminators (including Captain Belial, Chaplain and Librarian). 5x Assault Cannon, 3x Hvy Flamer and Cyclone Missile Launcher, 5x Chainfist, 6x Lightning Claw, 8x Thunder Hammer/Shield. Running a Deathwing List for those of you just tuning in. Oh and 2 dreadnoughts.

Here are some pics to keep you interested. The first few are of my final squad.

Showing more of this guy, I love that he turned out well.

Appreciate the comments. The space wolf and black templar bits are a bit of a stretch but it "fits" the fluff plus its a black eye for the space wolf players around here. In an apocalpyse game we played to end a campaign had 2 of my deathwing squads and captain and chaplain battling 6x Lone Wolfs, I eventually one thanks to thunder hammers in the squads. So I took my trophey and made a couple of squads with wolf stuff.

Plus, it adds to the rivalry between DA and SW.
