Well, it goes like this:
*insert disc one*
Play the game.
Several hours later...
"Oh, it says 'insert disc two"
*insert disc two* (remember to take disc one out)
Play the game.

This was commonplace back in the late 90's/early 2000's, most notably with Westwood's Command and Conquer series on PC. Each faction in the games had their own disc.
I haven't heard of this happening with console games before, though. Must be a fething huge game. Truth be told, I'm just going to rent it and wait until the price goes down a bit or I can get it preowned. I really want to get that Blood Dragon armour...

You heard wrong, as far as I'm aware. Amazon, BioWare, and everything I've seen have said *nothing* of 2 discs for the game files.
Doesn't mean there isn't a "Bonus Content" disc, like other BioWare games.

Kanluwen is probably right on this. A lot of games (but mostly Collector's Editions) have a bonus disc with behind-the-scenes stuff, trailers, all that jazz.

Final Fantasies 7, 8 and 9 to be precise. The first six were in cartridge form, and 10, 11 and 12 were all on the big daddy PS2 discs. Newer CDs can fit more data, thus eliminating the need for multiple discs.
I really doubt that Mass Effect 2 would be on 2 separate discs for the one game. I mean, as epic-sized as the first game was, they managed to fit dozens of worlds and systems into one disc, not to mention the story, gameplay and graphics. Modern-day discs are just massive enough (no pun intended) to provide plenty of space for an entire game and its universe to be put onto. Heck, look at World of Warcraft - the game used to come on 5 separate CDs when it was first released. Nowadays, all five of those CDs can be condensed to a single DVD. Even the two expansions have a single DVD each, and they were both released as 4-CD packs when they first game out.

Correction: World of Warcraft was offered in both formats at launch, Single DVD or 5-set CD. There was also a Collectors Edition that included both formats.
Also, Metal Gear Solid was a 2 CD game.
It would not suprize me to find that games start using multiple DVDs soon. At that point we will know that the DVD medium is reaching its end and Blu-Ray will start to become the medium of choice for developers, the same way that CDs slowly gave way to DVDs.

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. It's not that bad. Dorn: I guess not. Russ: You all suck. Ima go bring the Emprah back to life.

Don't get too excited, it has an ugly heroine on the cover and bioware has a track record of including certain content.
Also, I dropped the only shipment of Mass Effect 2 we received. It wasn't my fault, it was heavy.

I LOVE HEROIN!
Oh... You said Heroine. With an 'e'. Well then...
Oh stingy, prudish media... What would we do without them? Was the .5 seconds of sidebutt really that bad? We see worse in movies all the time, but nobody pulls the puritan alarm there. Funny how that works.

I'm just saying that why would you want to do that in a game or have the option to in a game, even God of War does it. I'm there to shoot/kill/maul things, not make love. Like that threesome ability in Dragon Age, is that necessary?

Not really. Then again, I don't know of any 3-way ability in DA, so I can't really speak for that. But if it has relevance to the storyline in some way, then I say why omit it? In M.E. I, the romantic subplot tied into the main storyline quite seamlessly IMO, so the sex scene wasn't like it was just 'there'. There was story buildup. If you decided to play through any of the romantic subplots in their games, then that was your choice. If you want to just shoot/kill/maim things without much plot, then pick up DOOM I and II. Or, if you want to shoot/maim/kill things with a plot that allows the level you seek, pick up Soldier of Fortune 1 & 2

I mainly play dynasty warriors for lack of plot.
But, as long as M.E 2 has the romance as part of the main plot then so be it, it just annoys me when it doesn't work with the plot.

why are you worried about -where- you'll swap discs? It doesn't matter really, it'll be done smoothly and at a convienient point is what we've been told, so all's good. And apparently that's only if you're on console. PC won't need to swap, as it's all installed already.

Is "git" such a bad word these days?
And oh dear, ME2 has two discs, oh the humanity! Oh the effort!
Okay, only thing I'm wondering about is that I install games before running them. I wonder how the two-disc approach works with this.

I wonder how the two-disc approach works with this. No. I was just being wildly random for a moment. It happens. Are you telling me you've never, in your life, installed a multi-disc PC game? You've never played a Total War game, The Sims 2, SC4, or anything like that? Alright, well basically you put in Disc 1. Always. Always start with Disc 1. If you don't... Well... I don't want to talk about it. I still have nightmares. Install the game like normal, going through all the setup steps until it starts copying info onto the computer. Eventually, a popup message will appear that says "Insert disc 2". Do this, then click "OK". Installation will continue where it was paused, and files will begin copying from the new disc into the game's folder. If there's more than one disc, just rinse and repeat until installation is done. Then it's just a matter of finding out which is the play disc. Some games use the last disc on the installation, but most will use Disc 1. Just try playing it on the last disc, If it won't start, put in disc 1 and try again. It'll always be one of the two unless the company that made the game is slowed.
