Having a staring contest with the Eye of Terror. It doesn't blink much...

Okay... I was playing Guard against 'Nids. Winged Tyrant made it over to corner my Basilisk.
I like taking risks. I fire the Earthshaker at a target 7" away (the Tyrant, or course).

Missed with all the awesome my dice could muster. The shot scatters 9" and lands dead on my own Russ. Blows it up.
Best part: the explosion was too small to even reach the Genestealers coming up behind it, 2" away.
Needless to say, I lost.

But really, Commissars would be even more inspiring if one capped himself ever once in a while. Now that's dedication.

My best shot ever was a single Vyper taking out a Baneblade with 1 shot. Penetrated, rolled a couple successive 6's on the damage chart... then rolled a 1 and he had a chance to repair, but failed to repair and then I got to roll again and finally destroyed it.

In my opponents first turn of my first Adepticon game my opponent’s very first shot was a rocket launcher at my fortuned wave serpent that had moved 24” which was carrying my 10-man sear council.

The shot hit (66.666% chance(space marines))
Penetrated (33.333% chance) (running 22.2% chance)
I failed my first save (50% chance) (running 11.1% chance)
I failed my second save (50% chance) (running 5.5% chance)
The result was vehicle annihilated (16.666% chance) (running .92% chance)
My opponent wounded every model in my council (1.716% chance) (running .015% chance)
I failed all but 3 saves (.781% chance) (running .00012% chance)

The results of the shot were literally about 1 in 10,000

Lesson: ALWAYS fortune your sear council – not the transport.

One Guardsman with Vox-Caster and Lasgun. Takes 'Last Man Standing' roll, fails, re-rolls 'cos of Vox, passes. Turn round, shoots twice at approaching DE Warrior squad, two hits, two wounds, two failed armour saves. Not game changing but still cool. I'll let incarna work the maths out for me.

The worst shooting I've ever seen was when I had a Deff Dread run up to two Rhinos full of Grey Hunters, each one packing 2 meltaguns. So on my turn, before he can assault, what do I do? I fire all guns. After all, it's a pretty easy pen (5+ on 2d6 on 4 different guns) with AP 1 for extra damage, and Space Marine BS, so I should be safe, right?

Wrong, as it turns out. First squad: double 2s to hit. Second squad: double 1s to pen on both shots. Next turn, the Deff Dread rips open one Rhino and somehow pins that squad, then gets into Assault with them. Next turn, wipes them out completely, cracks open the other Rhino and pins the squad inside as well. Next turn, both squads are dead, and the Deff Dread rampages up towards the rest of my army.

The game ended in a tie, incidentally, since the player failed to do diddly squat on the other side of the board (Although if I had actually killed the fething thing, I would have been able to take the Ork player's objective.)

I don't have a best shot, but my friend did. I deepstruck with a full group of ten terminators next to my board edge in order to defend my home objective in turn four. He had a mob of 18 grots closing to it and it was a cityfighting mission (termies were scoring.) I shot at them with the termies, rolling literally 13 ones to hit and 6 twos. One grot died. His next turn he moves closer then shoots at the termies. 16 hits 8 unbelievable wounds later I fail 5 saves with ones. And yes, this is going where you think it's going. He assaults and wipes my termies out. Needless to say, we joke about his grots now every game and he converted 17 grots to make them have little crux terminatas icons as shields. I wish I had a picture of that group.

I remember playing a game against someone. He fired his rail gun and totally pasted one of my grots. I don't think there's a special rule to even describe what happens to a model that is hit by a weapon five times its toughness! The rest of my orks spent the rest of the game picking grot smear out of their clothing.

Best, though not most lucky shot, was my friend deep struck 20 gargoyles right behind my Obliterators and basically only caused 1 wound.

Since he shot, he remained in a tight clump, so I turned around and scored 26 hits with my 2 twin linked flamers, and then scored 26 wounds. (cause of rerolls). Since its AP 5 it ignored his armour save and wiped the squad.

Mine is for fantasy, actually.

When I was 13, and playing in a GW store...

Open fire with nineteen empire handgunners -
- 18 fives and a six
Roll to wound zombies and vampire -
- 19 sixes!

The manager was so dumbfounded that I was given a free infantry kit for "breaking the universe".

Suffice to say, I used up all my good luck on that one game. :(

Except for ordnance rolls, I still roll a hit 8 out of ten times. In late 3rd Ed, during EoT, I took out my friends SM force commander, his pimped command squad and their razorback on the first turn. Regularly. Roll a hit, or deviate onto rear armour. Penetrate/annihilated/failed saves.

I was playing Imperial Guards against a Chaos Space Marines army using two Lashes of submissions.

My platoon of 50 guardsmens (and a Comissar) was Lashed on the first turn by the deamon prince, and were forced to advance 6 inches toward the ennemy. Then they were lashed a second time, and ended up just in front of the ennemy lines. They get shot abd charged by the whole army, wich is 30 Khorne Berserkers, the Deamon prince and a Defiler. Having the initiative, the chaos attack first, slaugering everything and dealing an asburd amount of wounds, something like 95. Every single unit die (including the commissar), exept a single Sergent that`s in base to base contact with the defiler on the left that suceed both of his armor saves. He is equipped with a single melta bomb, that require a ''6'' to hit. He make his attack, roll a 6 to hit the defiler, penetrate it and destroy it. He survive the explosion blast, and then take a leadership test at leadership negative 43, roll two ''1`s'' and probably scream ''come get some!!'' as the melle end since no units are close enough to him to consolidate and continue the battle.

(He got slaugered shortly afterward. But he shall receive the appropriate decoration post-humously)

I was playing against a Tau player. I had a Veteran with a meltagun (the last member of the squad).

The Tau player put a dozen Fire Warriors inside an AV14 building.

I fire at it with the meltagun from 8" away. I roll a 4 to hit, a 6 to glance, and then a 6 to destroy the building.

He stares at me with a "what the hell" look while I say, "That's just how I roll."

Well, obviously both of them were blinded by the sheer amount of lasers going all over the place, so they couldn't hit each other

I just recalled a "Best Shot" that my friend had, playing Space Marines vs. Necrons (Who was running a bunch of Warriors and a Monolith). First turn, Space Marine player rolls triple 6s - 6 to hit, 6 to pen, and 6 to blow up the only Monolith the Necron player had with a lascannon, also wiping out a couple squads of Warriors in reserve.

2 Shokk Attack Gun stories.

1 - a group of 9 termies deep strikes, lands and fires rather than run.

SAG targets them, hits with no scatter getting them all and then rolls box cars.

2 - Playing a nid player (previous codex) at the bottom of turn 5 I had wiped out literally everything in his army with the exception of a single lurking carnifex with 3 wounds remaining. His turn 6 and he fires it and kills some orks. My turn 6 and nothing I have left on the table is close enough to really try and hurt it. I fire off a few big shootas that bounce off its armour.

At which point I say to my friend.

"Well I guess I can't massacre you today Ryan. Not unless my SAG manages to roll box cars. If it hits you'll lose a wound but you'll still have two left"

At which point.

Sag, fires, hits and rolls Ryan was not best pleased.

Best: First shot of a game at one of the US GTs, forget which one. This was back when Ordnance had it's own penetration chart. Basilisk, target Land Raider. Direct Hit. Penetrates, Ordnance 6 on the chart, annihilated along with everything inside, which just happened to be his uber-Space Marine Command squad with every character in his army attached. 1500 point game IIRC, and there goes half his army on my first shot. Yeah, it was a short game.

Playing a tournament with the "Traitor" mission: One Elite choice from your list is given to your opponent. The only Elite I have is a Vindicare Assassin. I get a Terminator in trade.

The first shot of the game, I fire my Manticore at a Land Raider. It scatters wildly and lands right on top of the Vindicare. He fails his cover save and Insta-Gibs.

I WIN.

My best rolls - I had a guardsman with a lasgun kill a TH/SS termie.
Best/Worst combo - I was playing Necrons, he deep strikes his monolith in the middle of my deployment, casts the flux arcs or whatever and rolls a 1. Hits maybe 2 guys, cover saved. Next turn, I shoot a Medusa w/ BBS and blow the monolith up.

Allow me to tell you all the tale of Super-Gaunt (Old nid dex). Running quickly with his brood they are caught in the fire of some dark reapers. His brood is mowed down to the last and low he is outside synapse range! But fear not for he passes both his morale check & instinctive behavior check. Turning his murderous rage into a tool, he notices the farseer charging right for him at the last minute . . .

Savage combat ensues The farseers strikes out with his spear, but Super-Gaunt dodges easily & retaliates with a viscious bite, finding a weakspot in his armor super-gaunt again wounds the farseer. The farseer, inspired by the presence of the avatar dueling a lictor stays to smite Super-gaunt. Again the farseer strikes out & hits Super-Gaunt with an attack, but it barely scratches his side & Super-Gaunts toughness allows him to continue. With adrenaline pumping super-gaunt lashes out with a claw & what luck he has as the farseer falls, chocking on his own blood.

Super-Gaunts victory would not last however, the avatar, though wounded by the lictor, has triumphed and is headed straight for the zoanthropes. Still angered by the death of his brood Super-gaunt steadies his fleshborer & hits home directly into the avatar causing it to shriek in pain. As the avatar turns around it swipes at Super-Gaunt who has leapt into the air straight toward the avatar.
The avatars attacks miss but Super-Gaunt would not be so forgiving. He lands on the avatars face with teeth & claws of fury, felling the foul being in one swoop. Disheartened by this the dark reapers are unaware of the genestealers charging down their flank . . .

tl;dr I had a Termagaunt brood get shoot down to 1 model, pass its Ld test, get assaulted by a farseer, kill it, Pass an IB test, Shoot & wound an avatar, then assault & kill it

While technically nto my best "Shot" it was the most epic thing I have ever seen in a 40k game. When I have the time I am painting him in a super-man costume so I can tell this story everytime someone says "WFT?"
