Hey there!

I'm Fobbo and in the last 2 months I had the idea to start a new army. And after i have finished my last Imperial Guard model, I was sure to make this real. I have decided to start a Daemon Hunter army because I love the background and the look of the Grey Knights.
I found the GW Grey Knight models nice but I hate metal models. And I don't want army full of metal models.
So I will tinker my own Grey Knight models from nromal Space Marines.

You're probably better off just making a custom chapter in the service of the Inquisition with that approach. Making Grey Knights out of Space Marines is definetly one of the hardest things you could possibly do. With all the engravings and heraldry, I can only wish you luck, you'll definetly need it.

Especially when you consider that the GKs are GW's very best sculpts. Sure, it's all metal, but for all that little extra detail, it's worth it.

I'm really curious as to what the outcome of this is. I've been increasingly interested into Grey Knights recently

Very nice idea, will be watching this very closely. I would suggest you do some digging around on dakka though as there have been rumours of new inquisition models and dex on the horizon. I would check with some of the rumour gurus for more definite info though.

While I can't really comment on your painting or sculpting ability, you're certainly very good at buying stuff.

-GREY KNIGHT DREADNOUGHT CLOSE COMBAT ARM

I too love the daemonhunters, but hate metal. To solve this i simply use them as space marines with daemonhunters stuff (like my captain has a nemesis force weapon spear, my dread a DH close combat weapon, and i have a bunch of servo-skulls floating around with my commander). If only GW would come out with some plastic versions then my dreams would come true

good luck with your conversions. i personaly love the grey knights models/lore. I dont mind metal my self but since you are making plastic ones, perhaps it would be benifical to get at least one box of the grey knights to at least get a good upclose look of what they look like and their size

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

I bought up a few GK's just to paint simply because it looked like it would be fun. Turns out it is, and I don't think it's possible to hate metal models as much as I do (grumbles something about ratlings and psykers...)

If you need me, I'll be busy wiping the layers of dust off my dice.

Hey everybody,
I have started to tinker the Grey Knights today.
And here are the first 3 Grey Knights.
(they are not really finished, I have to glue the heads and the backpacks on them)

The only issue I have with your conversions, and you have a great start on the GKs in PA, is that it looks like you glued 2 bolt pistols onto their arms, because that is in fact what you did.

Try bulking the forearm with the storm bolter out more. If you can sculpt, sculpt a housing for the storm bolter. If not, something as simple as some plasticard tubing could be used to go around the forearm to bulk it up and provide that housing.

Otherwise, great start and I hope to see more

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

I don't like metal models either, but I think that Grey Knights are so unique that you sort of have to use their models. Sorry.

i like your GKs, the BT armour goes great with the heads but it was clever with the bolt pistols, i had never thought of it

Good luck

I'm with Deathgod on this. It looks good, but a little green stuff here and there to fill out some gaps would help a lot. The head of the Justicar is a great fit btw.

Oh god help you buddy. You'll need it. That's gonna be alot of time and effort on your part. But it looks like this thing is off to a good start. Also the conversions are very nice, seeing them painted will be nice.Just take care of the mold lines and it'll be perfect!

May I suggest you start working on you NMM painting skills while you build your army? Silver in so much quantity is generally ugly. Gonig NMM will make your models much more interesting to look at, if your painting skills are up to it.

He's good, I've seen his guard, but NMM might be a bit to difficult. I haven't even figured out how to do it. But Grey Marines can look good just as well.

I have a friend who sprayed his entire GK army with chrome spray. An intersting effect, but the vehicles were pretty bad.

nice start!
And using bolt Pistols as Stormbolters isn't such a bad idea.

And i would prefer grey to silver too

Yeah i'm with the others too i'm afraid on this. If you're taking the time to convert an entire GK army you wanna have it looking its best. NMM for the win.

This example may help you out a little bit.

Forgot to ask where the head off the Justicar came from, it would look great on some BT conversions I have planned.
