I've had my fair share of cuts and scrapes working with a knife, but the worst one was about three weeks ago at my FLGS. I was trimming off the excess sprue from a Crisis Suit model (This was before I switched over to Space Wolves) when the knife slipped. It spun in midair as I backed away, and it just slid right into my pinky finger. It was really clean cut (Exacto knives will do that) but it went in a good half an inch or so. Had to get two stitches, and I still have almost no feeling in my pinky finger from nicking a nerve.

My stanley knife has a stupidly small blade so quite often when im applying too much force it will go through when im cutting and into my thumb, it hurts.
Also like many dakkites ive stood up when the blade was laying on my lap causing it to fall onto my foot, it also hurts.

I take safety advice very....nonchalantly. I have mangled my left thumb a number of times with a razor saw and always seem to get pinning wire ands drill bits inserted either between my finger nail and finger or between my fingers.
I have also splashed molten metal up my neck, chest and along my arm
Oh, using superglue to try and seal wounds doesn't work very well. A knife or metal spatula stuck on a lit stove top usually works better.

A few months ago i was making a wooden base for my Nurgle DP, and was using a chisel to cut some grooves in the base for a base i had planned. My chisel hadn't been sharpened in about, forever, and it slipped off the wood and went through the top of my left hand and into a knuckle. wrapped it with some medical tape and it's better, but buy far my worst 40k injury.

Some of those are really bad. But the burning the wound is only good for big ones I thank. The worst part of this one is about 3weeks ago I lade that thumb open doing some molding work and had to hold it close with super glue for a good 1m or so it was a bleeder so now I'm going to have a scare almost pair ale with it from this one.

Er, anyone able to translate cpldragon's post for me?
I don't think it's a proper conversion if you don't blood yourself at least once. But apparently I'm not as misfortunate as others, I tend to only get minor nicks from scalpel blade, and one memorable occasion when I punched myself in the nose trying to prise a bit of metal out with pliers.

Very first time I assembled a model, I thought I'd cut the pieces out of the sprue with my new folding knife.
Cue the 2-inch laceration on my thumb.
Been using sprue cutters ever since

I think my thumbs are starting to get toughened up. The first time I cut myself, I bled like a stuck pig.
Now, even with brand new blades on the scalpel, I don't bleed from cuts often as much anymore, despite it breaking the skin.

I find the best way to make yourself invulnerable to hobby knife wounds is to peel soda pop cans with your hands. Try to get it into one long thin strip, kind of like an apple peel or orange peel. Because of the sharp edges, you'll blister and scrape your fingers into anonymity until they have the Feel No Pain special rule.

Holy crap I sure am lucky, hot damn. Worst I've gotten is just minor lacerations that hardly don't amount to paper cuts. I am a careful monkey when it comes to this stuff. My god reading this thread just made me cringe over and over.

Yeah, I'm new to the game, but I couldn't imagine injuring myself modelling. My tool chest has plastic cutters and files. When I get some vehicles, I may do some drilling and pinning, but I doubt I'll need a knife.

I've found the best way to remove mould lines, is to use a scalpel. I just happen to slip every now and then.

worst i've had was trying to widen a malformed hole on the assault cannon of an old hybrid cruader kit pen knife slipped and cut my 3rd finger, bound it up thought no more of it, 3 weeks later as the nail grows out it becomes apparent that I cut through the middle 3/4 of the nail with only tiny bits attached either side, and 8 years later that finger still has FNP

Building a Leman Russ I was using a hobby knife with a brand new blade and trimming something... I didn't realize my off-hand was too close behind and I must have nicked the tendon of my left index finger... it doesn't bend anymore at the joint I got the cut. It bled for quite a while lol, I had to keep it in a finger brace because the pain of moving it was unbearable.

Damn, this stuff hurts just to think about it. The worst I get is when there is a little bit of paint in a small crevice on a model I'm stripping, so to get it out, I use the blade-ish end of the sculpting tool. Needless to say, my left hand is now tougher than my right.

Cut my thumbs many times over the years working with modelling knives.
Much worse than that was the forearm burns from hot manifolds working on rally cars - they take ages to heal and I had to jump in and get back to navigating regardless.

I've done the whole thumb stab or slice many times as I clean mold lines with my hobby knife. I have since gone with wearing a rubber thumb shield ala postal workers. It covers the end of my thumb and stops the blade.

I don't have any wounds to show, but I'm actually going through some hobby related injury as I type this.
I think the cause is ergonomics. I'm experiencing sever neck and upper back pain on my right side, from the base of my skull down to and including my shoulder.
I haven't gotten to hobby or much of anything really, in over a week. :(

I haven't any pictures, but I have a pair of 5mm scars from when I accidentally yet surprisingly violently jammed my clippers into my thigh.
I also have various scars from craft knives, pin vices, the works.
I also have a blind spot in my left eye from a horrific superglue incident.
I should not be allowed near hobby tools
