As I saw no major thread on Kill Team (from the new Battle Missions book), I decided to make one.
Simply talk about it.

My kill team is either 5 Vanilla Terminators, or a Venerable Dreadnought with Flamer, Assault Cannon/Plasma Cannon, and Extra Armour.

I don't, it's out, I've read enough about it.
There's not much to talk about IMO.

5 termies sounds fine, though the low model count and unfortunate run in with Ap2's. And just weight of fire can bring them down.

As for the Ven Dread, it's just not looking for a fun game. The only challenge would be against someone who naturally likes spamming (meaning prob. a handful or less) meltas or tailors for it...

/shrug.

Right now, I'm going with Tau, just 'cause.
Crisis Suit with missile pods for light vehicle duties, 6-7 firewarriors for a little better punch and then 10 kroot to act as buffer and more weight of fire.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I've also made up a list better suited for absorbing assloads of fire.

10 Tacticals, with a Plasma Pistol on the sarge, as well as melta-bombs, and a Plasma Gun and missile Launcher.

Played a game a few days ago using 8 Stearnguard with a few upgrades.

Worked pretty well, their massive versatility was very beneficial.

Also, in the short time inbetween this post and my last on this thread, I have another idea.

1 Dread with MM, and SB, and a 5-man tactical squad with melta bombs.

I find that marines find it tough to win kill team because of their low body count.

I played a game where I could bring 10 men max, with a few bits of gear, and yet my enemy brought 20 guardsmen, some with plasma guns. When it comes down to it, kill team is more about weight of dice than having a single powerful model.

My only major advice point is to always bring some anti-armour. While there will not be any AV14 All-around vehicles, there will be at least a few other vehicles.

You can't duplicate any USR, you'd have to go Relentless and S&P.

I'd go with 5 Necron Pariahs if there weren't so many unused points in there. sub-200 points might be the only place they'd be worth a damn. Maybe 8 Death Company with a little bit of plasma would be appropriate.

My personal plans are to keep a distance of 13" against melee guys, and when the melee guys try to get closer, I bum rush them the next turn. Shooting happening all the time my guys are in range.

@Commander Endova:

First List:
Tank hunters is overkill for kill team with a melta IMO.
Powerfist is again overkill for kill team...that's an additional Sternguard right there, numbers count for alot.

Grey Hunters:
Same with the USR's, though fleet w/ MoTW is decent...while the Razorback is decent as well, but I fell maybe just a bit too expensive.

Kill Team has made me consider using units I would not normally use...which is a good thing, for the hobby in general.

I'm thinking a mix of scouts or scout bikers, or both for my lists.

7 Scout Bikers, 3 A.Gren.Launchers, Power Weapon Meltabomb.
Infiltrates and scouts, a bit tougher and decent weaponry.

The rules are like... plastered all over the net.
Dakka, 40KO, Warseer, B&C...

Anyway, 200 points, Modified FoC, legal squads needed, each dude operates as his/her/its own unit.
3 USRs may be given to a model, no duplicates. Split fire/combat attacks too.

There is no need for a power fist in Kill Team. It's a massive drain of points for no real gain. Tank Hunters gives you plus 1 to the roll somewhere along the line. Either when rolling to penetrate, or on the damage table. I have a feeling it's the first one. But either way, that is overkill for a multi-melta, which is already overkill in a Kill Team.

I was also thinking of a good storyline list. 10 scouts including Telion. A heavy Bolter. 5 Sniper Rifles, the rest are shotguns. Camo Cloaks all round. (I think) Stick relentless on the Heavy Bolter, and S&P on Telion. Don't know about the 3rd USR though.

Telion is a waste IMO.
Use the points for a Vet with power weapon and MB and give him Furious Charge or fleet.

Hvy Bolter can take relentless or FNP (the hvy bolter has a huge range already and you get to infiltrate to good firing positions, needing to move (even if you can shoot) is bad in general.

IMO Kill Team is the only place Telion is any use. Admittedly his ability to decide who takes the wounds is useless. But his bolter is still pretty Kick Ass. Plus he's highly accurate. Which I can see being pretty useful in kill team, as you don't want to waste any shots.

Finally, with the points not used on Telion, how could you afford a veteran, as you can't afford a minimum squad, so that would mean getting rid of scouts, and therefore detracting from the story of my Kill Team.

@Oshova:
I meant gear for the Vet Sarg. in the Scout squad with dropping Tellion.

Wastes his 'stealth to whole squad'
Wastes his 'guiding eye'
Wastes his 'wounding who he wants'.

Paying so much for a 'cool' bolter and hitting well. Maybe it's worth it, I don't know.
I would rather spend the points on a hvy bolter attack bike...faster, bigger gun, more guns as well.

Problem with IG in Killteam is that all those flashlight-wielding ablative wounds do you exactly no good whatsoever. Every model has to count.

I would say 3 scout is better than 2 armoured. In Kill Team it's more about getting more shots and more targets than anything really.

And yeah those laser pens are pretty useless in Kill Team. Yeah you're getting loads of shots as always with guard, and they take ages to kill. But your opposition can pick and choose which models they shoot, meaning your ablative wounds are just . . . well wounds.
