Sure, if you were allowed to take HQ choices.

Bah! Since when did Force Organisation Charts stop me!? =p

It is a shame that you're not allowed any HQ or Heavy Support though. But then again Predator would kinda be overkill, and not fit into the ethos of a Kill Team.

There's always the classic "53 Grots and 4 Runtherds" option.

Yeah, T2 models with 5LD and the worst guns in the game with 12" range and a '-' save are so great. Believe me, I've tried it, they just get mowed down by everything and anything and you fail the first LD test.

Most of the ork KT options I can come up with suck... they're either horribly unbalanced or have almost 0 chance to kill a dread list.
The codex has like 2-3 viable builds, one of which is a horrific rules snafu.

I can't find a kill team that has better than a 1/3 chance to beat 4 Necron destroyers. There guns have three shoots, are str 6 and range of 36. The gun can glance any vehicle on a 6 to pen. Give one of them tank hunter and you are good to go. They can move 12 and fire or turbo boost. They are tough 5, so they always get a WBB roll from a ranged attack as long at they stick close.

A CC kill team will never get close to them and nothing else has the range to out shoot them.

I ran many simulation against the best KTs for each race I have seen mentioned. There are a few that have a chance to beat them...like 3 Nid warriors and 3 winged warriors. One thing was certain, if the Necron Destroyers go first, they are almost certain to win.

Down here we're doing Kill Team with a lot more scenery than a usual 40k game. This is to stop the uber-shooty lists controlling the game, and there being a massive decision of the game being, who goes first wins. Also this allows for a more covert feel to the game.

Also I was of the understanding that Heavy Destroyers where a Heavy Support choice . . . but I might be mistaken.

Well, if the board was properly set up, it should be mostly terrain in which if they want LoS, they need to hazard some dangerous terrain checks.

If the opponent makes a range only list, it's his fault for not making something more balanced.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I played the new kill team a few times and I found it somewhat lackluster. It was fun, but not particularly characterful.

Luckily, FW has the original Kill Team rules available on PDF! My gaming group and I will definitely be trying out the original Kill Team Vs Goons gameplay. Check it out here: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/pdf/kill-team-part1.pdf

Aah, well I read Destroyers as Heavy Destroyers =p Sorry that's my bad reading skills lol

Yeah BA could take a Bahl, which would be pretty epic =p

Yeah the previous Kill Team was pretty awesome. It was a lot more specific on what you could take, no tanks, no stupidly good weapons lol

We have added things from Mordheim to the game to add some fun. Dive attack from on top of building, make an Initiative test, gain furious charge.

My kill team
10 Dark Eldar Warriors w/ 2 Splinter Cannons
10 Dark Eldar Warriors w/ 2 Dark Lances
Dark Lance with relentless, Dark Lance with slow and purposeful, Splinter Cannon with feel no pain

That's pretty cool. My only problem would be that Warriors are quite easy to kill, so quite easy to get down to 50%

Also, been thinking more about my Kill Team. Modified it to 5 Sternguard, Lightning Claw Sgt with Fleet, Heavy Bolter with Relentless, Heavy Bolter with S&P. Then an Attack Bike with Multi-Melta. Just incase of vehicles.

20 Models...with 4+ cover and possible 3+ from Go To Ground.
Number mean a whole lot than MEQ status IMO.

Though your list is pretty cool, though as said, low on numbers.

SoCal, USA!

While I like the Dread & dudes lists, what about Guard fielding a PBS in a Chimera? Stay in the box, move 6", and drop a R36" S9 pie plate every turn? If you can get them <25% with the Chimera fire, nuke their Ld for the bottle roll?

They're not. At least not when I used them. Did far better with 5 immortals and I believe 5 scarab bases. One scarab had FNP, another had FC and the third was preferred enemy. Worked great, played against tau. Buddy used a bunch of fire warriors and some flying vehicle that I can't remember the name of. Oh and I think one crisis suit and some gun drones.

When I took the pariahs he switched to three crisis suits with more gear and 4 gun drones, I took 4 pariahs and 4 scarabs. Didn't do well at all, soon as the pariahs left cover (no choice) they just got chewed up by AP3 weapons. No WBB sucks.

*Edit*
I would like to add though that we unfortunately did not have nearly enough terrain required for a proper KT game. Soon to change though.

I'm entering a kill team tourny on the weekend. As far as I know there are no restrictions on using legal allies, for example my Kill Team list:

5 Death Company with 2 Melta Bombs (1 Infiltrate Specialist, 1 Preferred Enemy Specialist) – 100
7 Sisters of Battle – 77
1 Sister of Battle with Heavy Bolter and Auspex (Relentless Specialist) – 26

Death Company are the ultimate kill team commandos, by default they have furious charge, feel no pain and relentless. there stats are nothing to laugh at either. Only down side is Black Rage, but i'd want to assault with these guys anyway, with furious charge they'd have WS 5, S 5, I 5 and 3 attacks (obviously +3 saves and feel no pain)

I reckon I have a chance.

We've got a Kill Team league starting up and I've been mulling over my eldar entry:

6 Jetbikes, Warlock with Spear and Destructor, Shuricannon x1 is exactly 200 points, but the body count's low. Preferred Enemy on the cannon, maybe Stealth on one of the bikers, and furious charge on the warlock?

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Preferred Enemy on the cannon seems a waste for a dude that should be shooting more than assaulting.

Furious Charge is useless on the warlock except for the I boost...and with no offensive grenades/skilled rider he's gonna go at I1 or kill himself in terrain.

Jetbikes...are meh. There should be alot of terrain and their offensive operational ranges are very gakky to be honest...and at the end of the day you have essentially 6 MEQs...

Fair enough. I forgot that PE only works for CC attacks and the S boost for FC would be moot when wounding at 2+. What do you think of a team of fire dragons or warp spiders in kill team?
