Finally got started with my Orks after taking a break from my dwarfs

These guys were done the Greyscale painting style where you undercoat with white then you wash all over with black wash and then use the citadel coloured washes to create the colours. The only non wash paints i used was enchanted blue and boltgun metal. The blue was because the blue wash did not cover well.

Its an extremely fast was to paint as you dont have to worry about shading and highlighting but it does have a washed out/faded look which is quite apparent when you compare the ork skin with the goblin green base. Also the other problem is the limited colours which is why everyone wears the same coloured clothes

Great table top quality. I'm sure once you get more experienced with that particular technique you can adjust and perfect the style to make them even better.

I really like the light touch, but perhaps they're a bit... pastel? Keep feeling like Ork colours should be louder than yours.

I am about to paint my Nobz Mobz soon I will take pictures every step and show how easy it is. There is def no steady hand work with greyscale .

In fact it is greyscale painting that got me back into warhammer. I painted these 50 orks in just 1 day, granted it was a sunday and all I did was paint but it was done

I'm old school can't stop painting my bases green

Very cool, I always wondered what all wash minis would look like. I think you need to paint the bases a different color then green, it seems like to much green with the Orks being green lol. Dig them though for sure, nice work

Not exactly my cup of tea, but I'm honestly amazed how well the greyscale wash technique came out. You could paint up an army in a week, this way. Hell, it still looks better than a lot of traditionally painted armies out there. Nice to see someone who wants a painted army, even if that just means finding the fastest shortcuts.

My only real feedback is to say maybe try to put pupils in the eyes.

That's it.

Seriously, those are some nice Orks. They're lighter than I do them, but honestly, if I could highlight half as well as you Thachng, I don't think I'd care.

Nice work!

Painting 50 models in a single day with a basecoat, and then with a wash? Sounds like a job for the much-reviled Citadel Spray Gun.

I think they're neat, but I prefer mine a little louder. Definitely good for someone who wants a painted army and has little time to do it, though.

I think the flash might have made the minis look a bit better then what they really are, especially with the extreme highlighting. I took some pics without flash. Ok I lie I just wanted to post more pics of them

The thing i like about this hobby is the reward at the end seeing the finished mini. I can't help but take some scenic shots on my game board And yes I know i need to buy more terrain than the stuff you got in the previous edition

Holy . That's really all I can say. If you can paint that may Orks in one day, then, sir, my hat goes off to you. Great, great work and I'm hoping to see more shortly.

These orks look great! Could you post WIP pictures?

The real threat to the imperium is not:

it is :
92% of teens have moved on to rap. If you are one of the 8% who still listen to real music, copy and paste this into your sig.
95% of teens would go into a panic attack if the jonas brothers were about to jump off the empire state building copy and paste this if you are the 5% who would pull up a lawn chair grab some popcorn and yell JUMP BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GENERATION 6: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

The paint looks good. I would paint the teeth bleached bone though, and add some sand or flock to the base to give then some texture.

Finally got my lootas finished, these guys were a hassle as they are quite large, and I had to piant them in 3 parts, body, head, and gun. But finally 15 done. Now for the 15 storm boyz.

I also took some advice and painted a bit of brown around the base so it wouldnt be so green.

I think the base would look less shocking if you actually based them, give them some sand and stati grass and I bet it looks a lot better.

Have any plans to do a desert-themed army in the future? The wash technique you use to paint lends a faded, dusty look that could be used to your advantage.

As for the bases, I'm rather torn. The intensity of the color you have now clashes with the muted wash look, but I can't figure out how you could base them that would allow you to get around that. Either way, I'm still impressed with how good these look considering the amount of time taken to do them.

Yeah I do intend to flock the base but its a slow process that ruins my brush so I tend to wait until I have finished them all and pick my worst brush and flock and toss the brush away.

When I am done with my Orks I will work on my Imperial guard army with desert camo
