Let's see that WIP you said you were gonna do for the Nobs! I really hate painting and if this is really that quick I could definitely consider it.

I actually have a full body tattoo, but it's of an invisibility cloak, so you can't see it.

If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.

Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.

Simply; if I ever play Orks, I'm painting them All Washes. That's how much of an impression you've made. Well done! They look Fantastic! I love the Shading on the Lead Stormboy's Bandana. Great stuff. Really great. Think you could give us a Tutorial? A Video of you using the Washes to Paint the Miniature?

Off the top of my head I don't know the points but with the vehicles it should be 1500pts. I I think i should be close to 1k with whats painted.

Have you started painting any vehicles at all? Do you plan to use the greyscale technique for them as well?

Ok so had time during the week to finish my first battle wagon. there are some small details I need to do like washing the transfers and putting more colour on the captain.

I am very proud of it and can only say the tank brushed helped alot here. I didn't grey scale as I felt it would not give the right effect. I basically spray painted with blue, dry brush with ice blue, painted on the metal and then washed with black. I then drybrushed the wheels and tracks with scorched brown. I finally stuck some transfers on for colour.

I didn't realise it until i put all the red transfers is that it looks a bit crimson fist but oh well

The worst part is its pretty simple. Mainly washes. This is a perfect example on why you use washes.

Drill the gun barrels and exhausts, and the transfer on the plough needs blending in. But all things considered very nice work.

Seen a nice BW on you tube got me thinking. I like the plow conversion.

To make your transferes blend in more before putting it on prime the area with a gloss coat and let it dry. Put on the transfer and let dry. Gloss it once again and let dry (see where this is going? Once done do your final matte coat. (and let dry)

Did you Grey Scale the Orks on the Kopta's?

Yeah I did greyscale the orks in the copters but it isnt as smooth as the other orks because i had to use a brush on white undercoat. This made things a bit patchy and dirty.

Lovely looking army. Painting with washes seemed to have fallen out of favour somewhat in recent years. Nice to see it done so well.

Finally my HQ are done. Only my last battle wagon to go.

The Warboss is painted traditionally which is why his green is a bit different. and his armour was dry brushed instead of washed.

Still haven't completed me last battle wagon, Just got the deff rolla sprue so have all parts to finish. Hopefully can get it done end of the week.

But during that time I have flocked the bases since the most common comment was that the base looks cheap. hope its ok this is my first time flocking and didn't really know what to do.

Its an improvement!! I like the family shot! The brown border on the base does a good job of "framing" the figures. The flock looks good on them.

Im currently in the middle of painting my Ork army based on the techniques you posted.

You know, that is truly brilliant. Even going back to, '50 Orks in 24 Hours', that's some achievement, especially when they're as nicely Painted as these! However, I've a Request to make of you. I'm looking at some Orks that I own, which need Painted - they're just the Assault on Black Reach Miniatures - and I was looking at using your Washes Technique, both because of the Process Speed, and the Finished Result. Any chance you could pick out a few Miniatures, and Label the Washes used in what places? I mean, just 2-3 Photos of Miniatures, and the Washes labelled? Just so I know what's used where, as I'm planning to replicate it, more or less exactly the way you have them. Also, how many Coats were needed of Washing? Do you have a certain Number of Coats for each Colour, or do you just go by eye and decide whether or not another Coat is needed?

Thanks for your Help,

Popsicle

Great style of painting! Really unique and I like the way the army looks as a whole.

I'm wondering how you do your flocking that it destroys your brushes?

Heres a copy of my tut

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/293730.page

Its funny when I think back half my army was painted in a day and the other half took 3 months to get done But in my defense a loota and a storm boy are like 2 minis in 1 as their rocket pack and harness takes a long time as I had to brush on the silver. I figure armies that hardly use metals like wood elves would be very fast to paint as appling the washes takes no time at all. its the paint on stuff like the metal and the spot colours that is time consuming.

I just use a cheap brush to do my flocking and yes its gone really hard which is why i only want to do flocking when i complete the army. Best advice I can give is to keep it simple and paint the most numerous units first so it feels like as you move along you are painting less and less
