Fellow Dakkaites, I have the disease of the traveler: wanderlust. I am constantly plagued with the desire to travel far and wide. I am fortunate in that my job does entail some travel (Electronica in München in the Fall anyone?), but I must pick the next place to go, and soon! I have never been to Rome despite my repeated trips to Europe and the UK, and I miss the United Kingdom more then one can understand. What about y'all? Any plans for travel soon? How many of you bring your minis along with you? How many here travel and meet fellow Dakkaites? Who here openly admits to having the travel-bug too?

I do....but I attend and super expensive college and I do not have the time to hold down more than a 40 hour per week job to cover bills and some spending money.

I have been all over the US multiple times, and I have a trip planned this year for Nova Scotia, and I am receiving a trip to Japan when I graduate.

thats a little under a year from now...

All I want to do is take my cameras all over the world and eat. Pictures and eating....

If I won the lottery that is all I would do. Buy a small house, a few cameras better than the DSLRs I already have, and drop 100,000 on lenses. then spend 5 years traveling the world...

Sold everything.

Personally, I'm not one for travelling. In fact I avoid any excursions of more than a few hours of driving. I suppose my roots are just too deep.

I'm going on holiday to Murcia in the south of Spain this summer. If you haven't been to Spain I would definitely suggest giving it a try, JEB. Especially the Balearics.

Mallorca in particular is beatiful.

Palma

Valldemosa

Plus, it's close by Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera. Barcelona is also a short hop away.

I love the Balearics. Just so peaceful.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

I went quite a lot of places with my parents when I was younger - Far East, Africa, Middle East, America, Australia (in fact, I am just lacking South America and Antarctica from my continents list ).

Now I have to pay my own way, I've been to London and that is about it

Though I did take my wife to Egypt for our honeymoon.

Given the time and money, I think I would enjoy seeing more of the world (and indeed, seeing some of it again).

If you want to go to Rome, do so - it is fantastic. I got a tour there in the Forum from someone who was practicing his English in order to become a tour guide - it was free and we went everywhere

Venice is also pretty cool and it is just a short hop from Rome (well, compared from coming all the way from the USA ).

Istanbul is fun, if your idea of fun involves evading 'bouncers'. That's my idea of fun, by the way.

Alba has the right of Spain, though Barce is far superior to Mallorca.

Australia is the bomb-diggity.

Mumbai has its moments.

Hong Kong is amazing.

You can also take in tear gas in Greece. Its reminiscent of Hemlock, I'm told.

Australia, Ireland, Italy and Hong Kong are all very, very high on my list. I have been to most of the states, and most of Canada and Mexico. I should also mention that Buenos Aires and Santiago are both well up there as well.

I have friends in Australia, but its more expensive. Argentina is very appealing, but its one of those cities I have no intention of going alone to. I travel a lot, and Europe is a place that I have gone alone too before. But regardless of where I go, I must go back to the UK soon. It leaves a hole in my heart almost as big as Texas does...

Oh, I wasn't referring to its "scary" factor...I was more referring to my planning for appropriate female companionship . I hear BA is a very romantic city. Wouldn't want to spoil a good trip now

There’s a special something to Darling Harbour, but the rest of Sydney is pretty bleh. Brisbane has the Great Barrier Reef, but is otherwise just a tackier version of Vegas. Honestly I’d recommend Melbourne as the best city for a tourist. After that I’d recommend getting out into the country.

If you’re feeling really adventurous I’d recommend you look at India. I’ll post some of my pictures later on, to see if I can inspire you.

To be honest India has yet to entice me. I mean I find the Old World luster and Romanticism of Europe to be much more appealing. I have not had finer night then smoking a cigar and sipping on Scotch by a warm fire in England's Lake District. That is why Africa and most of South America have almost no appeal to me. My desire to go to Hong Kong is a complete mystery to myself. Sometimes being an old soul is a drag...

India is the bomb, but I also have many connections in the subcontinent.

The Northwest corner though, that should be avoided. I've never come closer to death than I did there.

Ah, that probably explains it. Bondi's gotten even more crowded. Meanwhile Melbourne turned from being something of a dump into a very cool city.
