Which IG units should GW do in plastic? What's your top three?
Mine are DKoK, Tallarn, and don't laugh Ratlings.

Well they won't do DKOK because that would tread of Forgeworld's toes. They should do Steel Legion. They've always been popular and look quite different to the other plastics, Catachans and Cadians. I don't really understand why they stopped selling them through the shops, it's like they said "ooh these figures are popular, lets make them direct only".

Direct Sales means they can charge even more. I don't thinnk they'd do SL for the same reason they won't do DKoK. The themes are very similar afterall (gas masks w/ long or 3/4 coats). I'd like to see Valhallans personally. Ski troops FTW so I can relive my days with 10th Mountain. Yes, they've got long coats too, but no gasmasks... That's a HUGE difference.

A Mordian/Praetorian box would be pretty sweet. GW said they'd like to do every regiment in plastic - not that they will, or when, but that it's definitely being looked into.

I think my top one is Storm troopers in plastic, and also Valhallans or Steel Legion would also be cool to have in plastic.

I vote for Vostreans, they have a distinctive look, they're the most 'John Blanche' looking of the regiments and can serve as carapace or flak armor with minimal work. My second pick is some kind of traitor guard or chaos cultists, with a Lost and the Damned codex as well of course. For now we have nothing worth bothering with. Cadians are too dull, Catachans are a joke. I really hope we get something as good as the latest generation of Empire troops someday. For now I have my WGF Greatcoats on order.

I'll never play Guard, but it would be nice if they had a plastic box set of 10 men with various weapon options for each of the "main" Guard factions. With a solid plastic kit, you could pretty much convert everything else you would need from that kit.

Well you say that, but a 10 man Steel Legion or Mordian squad on their website is £20, yet a box of the crappy plastic catachans is £15. I'm sure which is better value for me and which costs them more to produce. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Female IG models!
... seriously... they'd sell pretty damned well, and not just to female Guard players. A lot of male Guard players would like them, too, to add more diversity to their squads, or even to have an entirely female company/regiment.

I don't play the Guard, but I'd like to see some really bad ass Storm Troopers in plastic. My friend, who is a serious IG guy would be inclined to agree with me on this matter.

They'd first have to make some really badass rules for stormtroopers or they wouldn't be able to sell the models very well

Catachans and Cadians are £12. I doubt they will release new regiments as they would have to resculpt all the models for commanders and infantry (plus there won't be enough room on the vehicle accessory sprue for three regiments).
The most likely plastic they would release is plastic Ogryns, ratlings or stormtroopers that are pre-existing.
It's unlikely we'll ever get female guard either, since we already have sisters.

Are you saying the plastic Catachans cost more to produce, but are cheaper retail VS. the more expensive retail, but cheaper to produce Steel Legion are better value to you?
I'd buy the overpriced SL over the junk Rambos no matter the price. I don't remember the cost of the SL line when they first launched, but I'm highly confident heavy weapon teams were NOT $17 and individuals were NOT $8.25. I'm pretty confident that applies to the entire IG collectors line (all regiments). In other words, they've increased in price since moving to Direct Order.

Steel Legion Heavy Weapon Teams were $15 USD.
The Steel Legion Troopers were not sold in individual blisters, but the Sergeants and Lieutenants were. And those were $10USD/blister.

No...the SL are more expensive for them to produce in metal and are of a higher quality. But they are only slightly more expensive than the god-awful cheap to produce plastic cadians. Obviously the SL are better value for the money, £20 isn't bad at all IMO, the profit on them per box must be marginal compared to plastic catachans. That is what doesn't make a lot of sense. SL would be perfect for a plastic release.

Clearly in the 41st millenium males and females are no longer born at a 11:10 ratio but instead at a 15:1 ratio. It all makes sense!

I do not understand all the hate that the Catachans get, they are probably my favorite loyalist regiment (models also).
These are what they should release in plastic (in no particular order):
Steel Legion (the demand for greatcoat guard has been around for as long as I can remember)
Mordians (there needs to be a "dress uniform" regiment)
Females (in the grim darkness of the far future there are no women, no wonder everyone is at each others throats)

I would like to point out that there have been female IG models, there was 2 in the original 13 penal legion one in the tanith first only and i think there was a female tank commader. I will also like to point out while expensive storm troopers now have ap 3 on their weapons to clear off objectives and allow the reagular troops to move in and hold while they move on the killl more of the pesky armoured units.

I love Catachans. I would really like if their troops box got redone to the quality of the command squad and heavy weapons teams though. The new models are really nice, and as much as I like the old troops, I'll admit they're not the prettiest sculpts around. Hard to believe the Perry bros AND Jes Goodwin worked on them.
