I really want to see a better FPS than Firewarrior.

I think a Battlefield themed one where there were like 6 races to start, and some maps. Then, instead of applying for commander you apply for like a Warboss, or Demon. Then you get more guns, models, ect. as you level.

Something like Battlefield 1942 or Star Wars: Battlefront 2 w/ the heroes. Running around capturing objectives and killing enemies would be sweet. More so if you did an upgradable character for the player to use

Yea, maybe instead of clans, you can have things like chapters, platoons, ect . with diff. paint schemes.

I think it should be structured more like TF2 with the different classes and make there be good and evil sides.
Ex. SM Devastator as Heavy, IG Medic as medic, SoB w/Flamer as Pyro, etc
It, of course, would be different than TF2 but that kind of idea.

This, make it points based, and when you get killed you lose points based on equipment, not just 1. Your a Chaos Space Marine? Lose 15 points. Your a Chaos Terminator with a Lightning claw and Reaper Autorcannon? Lose 65 points.

That would be pretty cool, it would make it harder for the more "Pro" player.

I could totally go for a BF-style game. Mind you, BF40K -is- out there as a mod for BF2, and it includes (AFAIK) all the races.

A bf style 40k match would be awesome, with options for servers to randomise the races played on each map to keep it varied.

I think that would be a very interesting game to play, different tactics need to be played with every map as you don't know which race you'll be playing.

/starttroll That's different from any other shooter... how?

Yea, that's right. I went there. /endtroll

Really though. If folks want a 40K BF-style game, just buy BF2 and download BF40K. That's practically what everyone is asking for, sans customization.

A Battlefront style version would be awesome.

Although if they do insist on making it a single player story driven one, could they set it about a Vindicare this time, and not a blinkin Tau.

Firewarrior was okay, but with a Vindicare you can happily have him shift his opponent focus evey level if need be as he takes on different kills.

See much more of the universe that way.

No, no. We want a game that's decent, balanced, and not full of hackers and bugs.

In short, nothing like a CoD game.

LoL, what I meant was with the set peices and for 1-2 shots = death, but I suppose I did set myself up for that.

Side Note: I do not play CoD, you will never hear me defend it as a good game.

what's bad about dying fast? I like the challenge and it would be appropriate for guardsmen. CoD's gak though

In my opinion this is what GW should have done first. Doing Warhammer online, was in my view far to much like World of Warcraft, which was always going to be tough to compete with. However the 40k angle gives it something different. I'm ever hopefull a decent 40k shooter comes out.

I don't see why someone couldn't develope one with a good single player campaign. I would have thought playing as an inquisitor would have been perfect as a long and complex plot could develope while you mash cultist/xenos etc.

I suspect I will never see a good 40k shooter though.

You -COULD- just Google it, but here, because I'm a nice guy:

http://www.moddb.com/mods/battlefield40k

Note - It is for BF2, not 1942.

There is a 1942 mod still out there, but you're much better off going with the BF2 route.

EDIT: Hmm seems they've removed the downloads for it. Either they're updating, or GW sent them a C&D >.<

Apologies, metallifan, I did google it shortly after I asked, and the mod is discontinued.

Basically, they say that they needed a ton of soundwork done, and a coder to do some work, and it was 95% finished, but they never got any help, so they abandoned it, and merged with Unreal Tournament 40K (which I downloaded, and frankly, its gak)
