Well I've always wanted to do an deathwatch kill team using the sternguard rules. I ordered a bunch of the shoulder pads from the war store. For the drum mags I used heavy bolter canisters. For the combi flamers I used storm bolters from the rhino or land raider. The inquisition symbols are from forgeworld.

Awesome work! What did you use to make the clips on the Boltguns?

The heavy bolter ammo containters from the devastator box set. I had to cut them into 2 pieces then re-attach them on the bolter.

Also; second picture, dude with sword, is that from Rogue Trader days? Funky looking helmet, but the rest looks familiar... Hmmm.

I will go ahead and beat a dead horse here - mold lines.

However, I am eager to see these painted. What Chapters are you going with for them? At least one Scythes should be there.

Not gonna do the whole opposite shoulder pad with chapter thing, never liked that part. The machine spirits are just gonna have to deal with the fact that they're workin for the ordos xenos now.

It's half of a storm bolter from either a rhino or land raider. The flamer part is the front of a marine flamer. I also added the fuel canister from the marine flamer to the side of it.

Well I finally got around to snappin some pix of'm. I'm happy with how they turned out. Can't wait to take'm out for a spin. I indeed didn't do the whole lame put their chapter on the other shoulder thing, my deathwatch are so cool that they didn't come from another chapter, they're death watch originals. I also included some shots of objective markers. I made a deathwatch one cuz I had an extra shoulder pad but no normal marine body to put it on so I threw it on a biker marine I had floating around in my bitz box.

Overall, that is damned nice.

I still miss those Chapter-specific shoulderpads, though. It adds so much life to them.

I dunno, the whole thing about keeping one shoulder pad as not to piss off the power armors machine spirit just seems kinda lame. Still though I think the left shoulder pads probably could have looked better, I'm not very good at bending etched brass.

Well, I just think it is visually cooler to have the Chapter emblems and colors, to offset the Black. Fluff is a good reason too.

For etched brass, try using rounded metal and running it back and forth over it (or between two pieces of rounded metal), to get the shape gently bent properly. That is what I would do, at least.

Still, all said and done, they look awesome.

Yeah that was my intention, just use'm as sternguard. I'll probably also use them in apoc, spice gak up a bit.

i really like those models, inspires me to try some similar conversions.

but i think the silver and black is a little jarring and they need some other color, i love the lightening claws and little tech lights cuz it brings that other color giving the model more life. but i think it needs something more, maybe having some of the symbols be colored, or the chapter shoulder pad on the side to give a bit more character to each model as well as that color to offset the silver and black.

all of them look cool, ecxept for the dying marine objective marker. He just looks a lil bit static because of his legs.
