So after the heinous amount of destruction 5th company Imperial Fists suffered this weekend I have decided to turn from the light of an Emperor who no longer protects, and devote my time and energy towards a more willing patron, Pertuarbo The plan is to ready a 1000 point force consisting of 2 squads of legionaires in rhinos, 1 demon prince, 1 greater demon, and 3 obliterators. wish me luck! Iron Within, Iron Without!!!!

What are your plans for the army, modeling wise? If you feel like pinning a lot and spending a bit more money, you could deck them out with the actual, factual Iron Warriors bits packs. I did that for the handful I actually got around to painting. Here they are for some inspiration

Great stuff, ive always liked iron warriors, they seem less chaotic. Using warriors of chaos bits seems to work a treat.

I also played IW before, but I then found out that I didn't like to paint so much siler/metal. Anyway I will some pics of my IW and hope they can give you some inspiration. The last picture is a pic of my own, Sons of bane. You can see the simularities between IW and SOB :

not sure if you'll like this idea but, how about painting the armour trimming gold, it would really stand out from the silver, and maybe paint half of the helmet in yellow, besides this, im am really enjoying this thread. *clicks subscribe*

yeah i've thought about doing the trim in gold i'll test it out later, I'm just trying to keep away from the shiny rich Iron Warriors scheme and stick more to the grungy industrial look, I'm also trying not to go overkill on the caution stripes so as not to give the "caution marines at work" feel lol.

Malika2 wrote:Just those boots of the Chaos Warriors. Get some green stuff and turn them into Marine style feet!

yeah the boots bug me as well, I just don't have the time to devote to doing that much GS work, besides they're a tabletop army, I'm not trying to win awards or anything so "flexible warp metal alloy boots" they shall remain lol

Awesome! Looking good, man. You look like you've gotten a lot deeper into modding than the last time we played/modeled together. I'll be hitting you up for mod tips soon, brother.

I think they do look a little flat. I'd pick out some details, even subtly like a coloured wash. Maybe some gryphone sepia on the chaos star, that sort of thing.

Yeah I'm thinking I'll hit up some of the trim with bronzed gold and give it a badab black wash

Woah, those obliterators are awesome! How many warriors of chaos kits have you bought? I've been considering doing that for a long time, since you get some extra legs to use for conversions later. It's kind of wierd to spend 70$ on a troops choice

lol I know how you feel, but I've got more than enough heads/weapons to spread around, on the space marines I stuck with the standard CSM legs, but did head swaps on almost all of them and I still have WoC heads to spare, you can easily stretch one box of chaos warrios across two squads(+ 3 Obliterators apparently )

Yeah, the set comes with 12 models, so that's at least 15 heads. I might try it soon. They make good chosen marines
