Subject: Decent Vampire films...any one remember one?

Yeah, I liked Shadow of the Vampire. I remember Interview with a Vampire being pretty good, although I saw it a long time ago and it might not hold up. It was beautifully shot if nothing else.
And True Blood is good, schlocky fun.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I've watched an episode or two of True Blood,it looked interesting,I may go back and try to catch it from the first episode so I'll have a better idea of who/what/ why concerning the series.
I've also heard good things concerning "Let the right one in". I'll have to look for it.
Nosferatu is classic,I've watched it dozens of times, having seen it makes watching Shadow of the Vampire that much more fun to watch.

I enjoyed Vampires by Carpenter as well as From Dusk till Dawn. None of these are recent so I guess my answer is no I do not like any recent vampire movies. I agree with the above posters about 80's vampire movies, and would like to humbly add Fright Night to the the list of 80' vampire movies that were good.

I liked how from Dusk til Dawn went from a "Gangsters on the run" film, to a film about vampire strippers, there was some great subtle humor in that film (as well as alot of OTT humour) and any film with Danny Trejo in it get's a thumbs up from me.
I also really liked Fright Night...Solid 80s fun, with the late great Roddy McDowell as "The fearless vampire killer" and Amanda Bearse as a less than typical "Love interest"...

The original 1970s version, with David Soul and James Mason, sure it's stilted and goofy, but it has some fantastic moments and IMO is a very fun Vampire film.

Great scene...and of course Fright Night wouldn't be Fright Night with out "Evil Ed"...,I love the scene where Roddy McDowell finds him in Charlies room..." His Dinners in the OVEN!!!..YUM!!"...great stuff.

Blade, just for the intro vampiric rave scene.
Let the right one in (Really want to read the book)
Interview with a vampire
Lost Boys
Dracula (G. Oldman version.)
I'm kinda tempted to watch the twilight saga... but not that much... just to have ammunition to mock it

I would have to go with from Dusk till Dawn though. Once when I was little we were watching it on TV and my dad said "Ooh, watch this part." after awhile nothing really happened.
We found out later that some guy was killed with a fan and had been edited out for the TV version. I was about 11 when this happened, way to go dad.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and read some of the comments on the bottom of that link I posted, especially he ones regarding twilight.

Also, I really liked Roman Polanski's Fearless Vampire Killers. I think that one's really great.
And Blade is a guilty pleasure of mine - heck, I even enjoyed the 2nd one [maybe the 3rd one if I'm drunk enough?]
But my personal favorite is probably Bram Stoker's Dracula - the director's cut version that I've got now is pretty awesome in my book...
Also, I just realized that my choices pretty much validate your claim that there hasn't been a really great vampire film for quite some time (Daybreakers, anyone? Is that what it was called? Either way it was pretty blowful...]

Original Blade
Any Dusk to Dawn
That one where the vampiers are in charge and they wind up with the hero vampire in some kind of incinerator so he can build up a tolerance to sunlight or somesuch - that one was fairly cool.
