MOSTLY
Modelling
Blogypoo

Although I'm relatively new to the Hobby, I've discovered that Painting really isn't my Forte. Seriously. So, instead, I'm aiming to excel at Modelling, which is something that is, to me, both much more interesting, and substantially more rewarding. At the end of the day, it's about seeing your Model, that you Converted, Kit-Bashed and Green-Stuffed, charging up the Table and slaying the Enemies of the Emperor.

I'm also a perfectionist, perhaps an obsessive compulsive disorder freak. To me, precision in all things is a precious gem.

I can achieve results and success rapidly in areas such as Math, and English, but in Art, I am tremendously slow. When Art Class was compulsory in Years One and Two, I was constantly being told by the teacher that I was far too slow, and would not cope in a Standard Grade Environment. I had no intention of taking the Subject, though I may pick it up in 5th Year if I have the time, but I found myself constantly taking work home, on the bus, even on holiday with me. Hobbying with me is the same; I take a substantially long time, ensuring the accuracy of everything I do, and thinking-through and testing things innumerable times before going through with them.

And on that note, 'ere begins the Mostly Modelling Blogypoo.

+ Skul'ead +

I'm opening up proceedings with Skul'ead here. He's the Furthest-Along Member of a Sternguard Veteran Squad I'm working on at the moment, specifically for Kill Team. This chap has a Skull Probe for a Head. Easy as pie, and I think he looks bad-ass.

Stay Tuned.

Peace Out.

We're still working on it, it's a work in progress but, hey, we need ushers.

+ Skul'ead +

Decided on the Double-Edged Chainsword, originally belonging to the White Dwarf Subscription Space Marine Veteran. Yes, I did Subscribe, just as White Dwarf made its tragic decline. I now get the same Hobby Fix from Podcasts, without some humour thrown in! Anyway, yer' thoughts, please. I'm off to find the Super Glue. Oh, and have an Intercookie if you recognise the quotation!

I like it: is the head a servo skull?

It is indeed! He's #1 of 7, so I'll need more intuitive and abstract brainwaves to put the rest on par with him!

1 of 7 servo skulls or 1 of 7 stern guard?
Perhaps a box of warhammer skellies might provide headage?

#1 of 7 Sternguard. I ordered some Heresy Heads from Chapterhouse Studios, so they should make an appearance at some point. They will be kitted with 2 Heavy Bolters and 3 Combi-Meltas, and Skul'ead here is Combi Melta #1 of 3. As for the Heavy Bolters, I went on a Rage Rant yesterday about how they're attached to the Sprues in the most ridiculous places, which has lead me to pursue the Metal Heavy Bolter. For the other, I'm considering using a Scout Heavy Bolter as a Servo-Arm Style Heavy Bolter? I did some Test-Fitting on that, and it looked decent.

You should take pictures of the test fittings...and put them up...

There isn't much to see with them that you can't imagine. It's just a Heavy Bolter, where an Arm should be. I'm commencing work on the Boltgunners.

Thanks! It's always motivating to get a little 'Looks Good' here, and 'Keep Going' there. Thanks for taking the time to post! Also, if anyone feels like copying anything they see here, by all means go ahead! I'm more than happy to see my ideas replicated. And if you need help with something, or have a question, don't hesitate to PM. And, correctamundo, they're Heresy Era.

Why, thanks! I'll try and get in another Update before the end of the day. The sun is shining here, for a change, whilst England and Wales are apparently getting 'Vicious Thunderstorms', so I might take the Squad outside, and work on them out there. Expect Updates soon!

OH-I Wanna get out of here

Cool looking dude, bummer the WD guy had to loose an arm tho, I've never even seen one of those guys before. I thought it was from the Vanguard Vets untill you posted link, you may want to check them for more arm conversions.

The 'WD Guy' didn't lose an Arm for this purpose, but rather I had it spare. Aforementioned 'WD Guy' now has a Power Sword.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Anybody have any suggestions as to the other Arm? I know, technically, he should have a Boltgun, but by the same reasoning he should also have a Chainsword and a Bolt Pistol, and they're not represented on any of the Metal Sternguard. I was considering, perhaps, a Chaos Space Marine Bolt Pistol with Arm?

+ Crash Landing +

Been dabbling in some Terrain Pieces for the Club. Slightly thinned Dark Flesh was applied via a Large Artist's Brush, and touched up with a Citadel Standard Brush. A Citadel Small Drybrush was then loaded up with Bestial Brown, and dabbed quite liberally across the Dark Flesh, giving a very Earthy, Autumn look. See for yourself!

Thank You! I'll be concentrating on some Modelling tomorrow. The Terrain shouldn't take up more than an hour of my time, as I've cunningly hired the ol' Daddio to do some Painting on the Lander.

This is Popsicle, out for the night, out for the count. Don't let them bed bugs bite.

Glad you're excited! Strictly speaking, I don't have anything spectacular planned; it's more the Foundational Components that need to be put in place, the Cornerstones that need to be laid, before I can work my Creative Magic again. In English, that'll be the Legs and the Torsos.

No problem, at least you understand now. Like this one. Avatars. Hope to get some work done today. I'm considering going all-out on this one, bashing out 2 Sternguard Veteran Squads and 2 Tactical Squads, and Kantor himself, and fielding them as a 1,000 Points Army? They'd all be mounted in Rhinos, or perhaps Drop Pods. Should I?
