I'm going to vent. Please feel free to join the 'Hate-in'.

I was playing TF2 as a Heavy, dustbowl first stage on defense. My team were doing a good job of keeping the attackers from breaking out of the steps and I was harassing the side exit from the hut on the far side. There were a couple of snipers trying to shoot the defenders and I was keeping their heads down, killing them if they didn't hide quickly enough and healing if I got hurt. After a few successful minutes I got an explicit message from one telling me, in colourful language, to 'stop camping, you cheat!'. Camping in a point defence game is cheating. Right. I would be less annoyed if it wasn't so easy to break past a solid obstacle in TF2. Ubers, spies, mob rush etc.

This is normally the sort of thing I would ignore but I was inexplicably riled (a case for video games leading to aggressive attitudes, no doubt. Nobody tell the BBC!).

The most virulent raging I have ever experienced is from randoms in DoTA/Heroes of Newearth...I have had a guy rage incoherently at me for an entire game, for everything from feeding, (despite having only 1 death to his 5 or so) to getting him killed (despite being on the other side of the map)

The amount of anger these games produce make me wonder if somewhere a baby is being dissected for every loss...

I was playing as a Sniper on dustbowl once, being a cool guy, shooting heads and not afraid of nothing. No seriously, I was on fire that game. If a guy popped his head of the spawn area, it got shot off. I racked up 14 some kills within minutes doing this...

And then I get told to play something else cuz a Sniper can't help the team....

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

Me. I have been rolling very badly in Blood Bowl lately. I could blame the server, but that's not cool. Nor is losing two Lvl 4 Gutter Runners in one half, despite the Apothecary reroll.

Also, my Dwarf team can't make Go For It rolls, which is cute but not fun.

This annoys me. Fair enough when you have 7 engies or snipers it is going to be a problem. If they have a better idea for shifting a wrangling engie or taking out the demoman with stickies on the point, though, I'd like to hear it.

Forever alone

I was playing Modern Warfare 2 on the 360 last night and it seems that there's a growing fondness of silenced AK-47s for some reason. Granted they're good as silenced CQB weapons, but it was just nuts. They were everywhere.

I was pretty irritated at first, but then I broke out the good old FAL.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 earlier to take a break from fiddly plastic. Was going decently for a while, then it seemed that almost the entire enemy team had switched to recon and was just picking off everyone else from long distance. I applaud their effort but goddamn spawning and then dying instantly drove me insane.

I agree with cheese, a lot of Ak love recently. I've been using them silenced, but with a holographic and at a distance.

Which brings me to anothe point, why do little kids complain when you defend a position by calling you a camper?

I'll always Remember Flashbang Spam Kid from the early days of MW2, before I gave up hope in it ever getting dedicated servers.

Basically, we were playing Skid Row, and all this kid did was toss flashbangs. He'd toss all his flashbangs, then run in swinging his knife and screaming at the top of his lungs. Meanwhile, those of us stuck on his team are blind and end up getting mowed down or 'naded.

The worst part is, he would always stick to whichever area he wasn't wanted in. If we were making a good push to a bomb or a CP, he would show up, toss a couple flashbangs into the room we were all in, then he'd try to knife us while screaming. Every time someone would pop the old "WTF you slow!?" He'd reply "Lolsry, Thot you wer nemy"

Just last night standing on the top floor of the big building on Skidrow (the one that overlooks the large area with the crates scattered around) with an RPD with heartbeat sensor/ACOG and getting yelled at by the knifer on the team despite me locking down a good chunk of the map O.o
Also spies that whine about Pyros being OP despite every other class having good counters (like...distance?)
People on WoW who get pissy about you not having ICC gear despite the fact that you're doing random heroics (anyone who plays WoW on an 80 knows exactly what I'm talking about)
Finally, people using cheap combinations (noobtubes, M+L+C knifers) and raging hard at you because you stood in a corner for more than 10 consecutive milliseconds to reload your AUG and then shot them. 'OMG NOOB CAMPER' (God that makes me want to kick something)
Edit: This applies to any game. Someone uses a cheap combination (ex. G18, AWP, backburner Pyro) and then cries hax when you successfully counter it. I can't tell you the number of knifers I've dodged and shottied to death only to hear a little whiny 8 year old rage at me.

I think it's not a secret that 90% of ret paladins and hunters give their class a bad name. I used to play a death knight tank way back when Naxx was big and I can't tell you the number of times when the 9 year old kid behind the ret paladin pulls something and wipes everyone. Then it's my fault because 'omg tnak shud have puled it of me lol'.

It's not the cussing kids, it's the trash talking 8 year olds who run around spraying bullets and obscenities. And they sincerely think they are good. Flashbangs are cheap, throwing knives are cheap... Anything that doesn't involve running at them with a pistol shouting "IT IS I, EVANGELION, HERE TO FIGHT! BOY, I SURE HOPE NO ONE SHOOTS ME!" is cheap.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

People having shouting/insulting matches in the lobby or during the game. Especially when they are all squeaky voiced tiny people.

I've given in now and just mute them and give negative ratings.

People who insult you annoy me too. I may be having a bad round, but you being a knob about it isn't helping. Hell, if you are doing well, people insulting you still isn't very nice.

People who take all the vehicles and race off before waiting for passengers, so you and half the team have to walk round the map.

Or even worse, people who take the vehicles, let you on, then drive like an idiot, getting you killed and destroying your teams asset (the vehicle) in the process. Especially if they drive off cliffs, or stop stationary when you are surrounded by enemies.

People who just go round team killing or taking off all your sheilds/health so that you get instantly killed by the enemy also annoy me.

REALLY?

Some fighting games, like the Street Fighter and Capcom series games in general, depend on this for intermediate level play. Keeping the pressure on is a perfectly legitimate tactic. In other fighting titles, it's usually easy to counter spammers. I have to admit it's kind of funny if you've actually lost friends because you're either bad at the game or can't tolerate the way it works.

Oh definitely. I remember back when I was only 36 on my warrior and used to run SFK we had this B elf pally who was like 25 or so and wanted to tank. Of course he had some long term friends in the group so he gets to tank, and of course he's dead due to idiotic mob pulls and inexperience. And of course, he was all pissed when he rezzed, blaming me for not helping him...

I know, seroiusly. These kids think they're the next greatest CoD player and when they start dying or losing they blame every class/weapon/perk instead of admitting they suck.

I was playing Transformers: War for Cybertron about 2 weeks ago, and wasn't having a great match. I was getting a bunch of assists and doing my job of keeping people off the points (we were playing Conquest, which is basically a capture-point scenario.)

At the end on the match, one of the guys kept going on about how somehow I hadn't managed to get a single kill and how fething terrible I was at the game, and how we was gonna leave if I wound up on his team again next match. I did, and he left, later sending me a message saying how horrible a player I was.

Ironically, about 2 matches after he left, I got invited to a match with some random dudes, since I'd gotten the most kills in that match and they said that although I was driving them nuts (they were on the other team) they knew a good player when they saw one and wanted to play with me. Lawl.

Ouze on GW: "I'd like to be like, hey baby, you're a freak but you just got too much crazy going on, and I don't hook up with bunny boilers. But then Necrons are going to come out, and I'm going to be like damn girl, and then next thing you know, it's angry sex time again.

It's complicated."

Keeping pressure on is fine and perfectly acceptable. But when it's the same freakin attack, for the entire match, it gets pretty freaking annoying.

Besides, if they duck behind the couch like I told them, they would have to worry about me chucking the controller at them.

Continuing the WoW annoyances...

Mr. Gearhead
Somewhat of a rarer species of gamer (maybe more common nowadays, what with Gear Score dominating the game) but someone who immediately assumes you're an awful player because your gear score is low. Now, I know that GS is a pretty good indicator - but it's not perfect. What's even more annoying is when he shows up at low levels...

...say, in Ragefire Chasm...

All Hope is Lost Player
These are pretty common, especially in the age of Dungeon Finder. The player who, when the group wipes once, decides to declare someone (or everyone) a noob, and ragequits. The worse older brother of these players are the ones who use the DF system to their advantage and pull a huge group of mobs before teleporting out of dungeon, causing everyone to wipe (again). This can be even more frustrating if the aforementioned player is a Tank or Healer.

Impatient Bastard
Ready to go?
No.
Pull? Alrighty then!

Yep, it's this guy. All classes can be guilty of it, but it seems to show up more often in DPS classes. (Though I've seen some Tanks do it as well) It's the player who's tired of waiting for the Healer to get mana, tired of waiting for the Tank to get CDs up again, tired of sitting around at full health while everyone else gets ready to go. So what does he do? Charges the nearest mob and forces everyone to pull now, often resulting in a wipe or death of someone (probably even the person who did it). Even worse when the nearest mob is a boss, or is nearby even more mobs (see: the Steamvault).

Nonthreatening Tank
I understand it's a hard job to pick, especially since they're in such high demand and it's such a tough thing to do. But seriously, it's not that hard to build threat. See, I'm a mage and topping the threat meter! Though a slight caveat is in AOE pulls when the tank has to focus on 4-5 different mobs at once, it really shouldn't be such an impossibility to grab the boss and rapidly pass everybody else in threat, no matter what the class or spec.

I don't play much WoW anymore but while we're on the subject:

The Tanking Hunter

Happened about five months ago. I was doing Uld-something. Level 50 dungeon. There were three of us and we had this hunter who kept insisting that hunters were a tanking class and kept pulling mobs by shooting them before anyone was ready for the next group. To make matters worse, he refused to use a Pet, because he's and hunter and a tank.

We made it through in the end cause we had two healers and a really good Pally, but damn that guy was annoying. The healers stopped keeping him alive, so he'd die every time we fought a group of enemies. I'm shocked he didn't quit

Playing Conquest in Bad Co. 2 and it is irritating when you have double chopper levels and your team does not wait for the chopper to spawn and allows the other team to come into your base and pick it up. I spent an entire game on an AAA gun shooting down choppers, inlcuding my own.

I love that revolver.

I think because the TF2 community (at least on the servers I tend to play) is generally better mannered than I'm used to (playing halo), it is more annoying when someone decides to mouth off.

On a related note- I can't believe how much better this game is on PC than on xbox. At the moment I am playing M:TW2, TF2 and CoP while my xbox gathers dust (until I buy AssCreed2).
