Dear Dakka Dakka,

I'm not sure if this is old news or not, but I just saw this on the Battle Foam site. They will always be offering 15% off to all military members now. That's pretty sweet.

Does Air Force Qualify as Military? Certainly doesn't in the UK .

Seriously though I hope this applies to UK Military as well, that would be V.SAT

Reservists in America have id cards to prove it - I can't imagine AU is different?

We saw this just a few weeks after placing our first battlefoam order - d'oh! It will be great for future orders though.

Props to BF for doing this - while I'm still waiting on mine, everyone does say they are the sturdiest practical solution, and if there's any group of 40k players who need access to that, it's military.

First, I'm pretty sure this applies to US military servicemembers (anyone with a US gov't issued military ID. If you don't have one, you don't qualify).

Second... are you guys really going to buy from battlefoam?

Not only have I in the past, but I plan to for my Space Wolves when they're finished.

They're offering a discount to US military as a show of respect and appreciation for what they do. I can't fathom why you feel the need to come down on them for this.

Let's not go there.

I refer users to Foam Wars 1-4 for the extended history of arguments between the different foam companies.

Might have to do with that boycott avatar he has going on which is silly. They are a good company why trying to pull such a thing is kind of childish.

That says Boycott? I couldn't read the odd font/color over the logo, and thought it was an advertisement for them.

"Second... are you guys really going to buy from battlefoam?" (couldn't get the quote to work)

Yes I will keep buying from them. A) They make the best army carrying products I've seen. B) They are offering me a 15% discount.

I have purchased the Spacehulk foam. It's awesome. I filled up my SABOL bag and my GW case with BF and I ordered their 1520XL P.A.C.K. for all of my Dark Angels. It didn't ship on 1 Sep like they promised, however, they gave me a 10% off coupon that doesn't expire. So, I plan on getting 25% off with my next purchase. Also, I bought their display board and had it pro painted. I'm pretty stoked about it. Although, in retro-spect, I probably could have just got the GW realm of battle extension pieces and used those (I don't do much of the modeling or painting, just the playing).

Perhaps if the Norts got a good deal on BF they wouldn't be so salty all the time. I think its worth a try.

I get a 15% discount too, doesn't mean I'm going to use it. I'd rather pay an extra couple bucks to outrider, at least the guys there haven't publicly insulted me and others online.

And no, I didn't photoshop my avatar, someone else did. I merely borrowed theirs.

I don't know if it is that way around the world but in Canada previous cases of freebies/discount to police/military/firemen/non-related jobs have been ruled to not be fair in some way or another, it is positive discrimination.
Now, most companies wouldn't dare offer a job-specific discount on their products.

jp400 wrote:FFS, let it go dude. We don't want to hear it anymore!

I'm sorry but I believe it has to be known that Romeo, owner of Battle Foam and main spokesperson, insulted not only people who were blunt about Battle Foam but most people criticizing Battle Foam in any way, be it positive, negative or passive.
However I agree this is not the topic at hand, but try to have a topic about that and have it stay opened.
For some reason the mods close them fast, even though letting one be would avoid new ones being created to some degree.

Indeed, I was the one to gimp this avatar, he just happened to obtain it while it wasn't readable.
I originally didn't consider the size it would become when used as an avatar, as it was meant to be put in a signature, I was just too attached to the quotes in my sig.

Give it a rest if you have a hard on for outrider products go talk about them in another thread. All your adding is negativity and if anything giving outrider a negative image. Battlefoam makes a great product to say otherwise or boycott it because of a person is silly. I could understand if Romeo was killing babies here and slaughtering chickens to the gods but I mean seriously?

The Battle Foam damage control was not as good as the Warstore/Sabol and Outrider damage control because only Yanky Shooty Blokes get to make the save, yet with the other dudes it was everyone making the save. Plus it looks like more of a publicity stunt this way...

In the US these kinds of discounts are commonplace. Car dealers habitually offer $500 off for military members. They also offer discounts to university students. You can get discounts on hotels, rental cars or other travel services based on your choice of insurance companies. The American Automobile Association membership comes with all kinds of discounts from associated businesses. The AARP gets discounts on practically everything. It's ageism I tell you. Better get the mounties right on it. In fact you need to get your website up and running soonest. Maybe battlefoamsucks.com is still available.

You'd be pretty miffed too if Romeo called you a moron and some other things I won't repeat in mixed company simply because you stated that you were happy with your Sabol bags and foam for now and didn't really see the point in switching over to a more expensive product when what you had was good enough for your situation.
