They look like skittles. Taste the Rainbow.

Anyway, very interstingly done. You should do some for other kits.

Any requests? it's insanely easy to do, although I suppose the "hard" part is acquiring photoshop.

It can be buggy, but Gimp ftw!

You found a good use for the technique though.

(and you could always mask off the bases and what not if you can be arsed)

I actually like the purple bases. I use the same technique to whiten teeth in pictures by decreasing the saturation of the hue and then lowering the brightness to a believable level.

Don't trust anything you see on the net.

heck with strong colours like that you could just change the hue on the blue Chanel leaving all the other colours as they are.

Photoshop was implied by the OP, though you can get Gimp for free (legitimately), and unless yer a 'pro' editor you will love it.

Edit - ninja'd again...

Any package that lets you change the hue of the image would work. You can even do it in word if you really want to (though you'll need at least MS2003 to do that)

I use CS5 for alot more than just hue changes. Granted I don't use it often.

I think the teal ones look awesome.... I didn't know you could edit hues in Word, how random is that?

Layers, masks, gradents and gradient maps. Go get an image mask off the bits you don't want (magic wand tool then hit the vector mask button layers) then add a gradient (layer) with the layer option Colour or Hue. After you're happy with the gradient use the mask (on the gradient) to remove the bit where you don't want the colours to be changed ... If you do all that inside a folder you can move the folder without breaking anything.

Don't believe you. I think you bought CS5 purely for H&S shifting. Not doing the bases correctly was the giveaway.

I was WAY too lazy to polygon select around the bases. I like the purple ones anyway. This whole ordeal was started out of boredom lol.

Now look what you made me do!

Poly select wouldn't be needed, as was originally mentioned, just move the blue channel around a bit. I did the above in a very convoluted fashion, using a hand-drawn mask and a gradient overlay set to Hue.

Of course I isolated the LR first using the magic wand technique.

looking at that makes me realize what a royal pain that would be to paint, even with an airbrush. The base coating would be easy but highlighting would be a makor bitch.
