Did a 5 set of different spartan helmets.
Also finished an old idea I had for a storm shield that would fit in a deathwing army (and also be generic enough to use elsewhere).
These are a bit rough still but finished enough to show what the finals will look like.
Should be cast up and out in 2-3 weeks at most.

Dig the shield! Not keen on the helmets, but a solid design. they just seem thick.

Damn.. I love the sheild.. and I suspect those folks building "Custodes" would be veddy interested in those helms..

after a few days of playing halo reach, i was kinda hoping that they'd be those spartans! very nice sculpts as usual. i'll forward the thread to my local dark angel nutcase.

Yes and if the skill to sculpt them wasn't there, he should have not sculpted them, the shield would be much better off without them.

Sorry I dont agree with you. You are looking at photos of something blown up to at least 20x size. Rather then look at the overall shield, which I think mostly everyone thinks is good, you concentrate on a micro detail.

I think you need to look at the fibers of the mat the picture is taken on, then maybe you can appreciate the scale of the objects you are criticizing.

If you can do better, please PM me for a sculpting commission (or GW for that matter).

Are these for sale yet? How much will the heads cost and how many will there be on a sprue?

Not for sale, I am betting on 3-4 weeks till production.

They will come 5 to a sprue (we learned from our previous 4 head sprue mistake) and will likely be around $4.85 a set.

So a buck a head. hmm. Bit expensive, but they're nice enough.

That's standard price for a shoulderpad. Makes sense to charge that for a head.

Because someone commented on them specifically I went back and relooked at the skulls on the stormshield. I think the piles of skulls on the bottom are perfectly good. Nothing wrong with those for their scale. The skull and hood however I don't think look good at all. Either that skull is too small in proportion, or the hood is too large. I'm not sure which. Probably a bit of both.

Of course my wife is going to hate chapterhouse soon..between my nids and deathwing lol

Nick any idea if the shields will sold in packs of 1 or 5?

They will be sold in singles, I dislike forcing people to buy more then what they need.

I can see that. Maybe Pyriel and look at that more closely before he sends them in for molding

Its cheaper then many other companies out there (which range from 1.00 to 1.50 a head). I actually try to stay below the high cost and leave a bit of room for profit. Seeing as the Spiky and Gasmask marine heads sell out, I must be hitting the mark.
