This is going to be a tough day for Rick Sanchez. The CNN host, as Mediaite notes, is the frequent butt of Daily Show jokes, which may have contributed to his ill-considered comments yesterday on Pete Dominick’s satellite radio show.
First, Sanchez called Jon Stewart a “bigot,” though he walked the comments back a bit later.
Dominick: How is he a bigot?
Sanchez: I think he looks at the world through, his mom, who was a school teacher, and his dad, who was a physicist or something like that. Great, I’m so happy that he grew up in a suburban middle class New Jersey home with everything you could ever imagine.
Dominick: What group is he bigoted towards?
Sanchez: Everybody else who’s not like him. Look at his show, I mean, what does he surround himself with?
Then, he suggested that CNN is run by Jews.
I’m telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they, the people in this country who are Jewish, are an oppressed minority? Yeah.
CNN, let’s remember, fired Octavia Nasr this summer for a tweet expressing respect for a Lebanese cleric tied to Hezbollah who had died.

Ummm, ok then? Well, I don't think Sanchez fully recognizes that Stewart is a comedian. This is like calling Colbert a racist for one of many many jokes he's made.....
I really never liked Sanchez. Ah well....Dude can't take a joke.

I didn't realize my political news options were Daily Show/Colbert Report on the Left and Glenn Beck on the right. It is hilarious that he is calling for fair coverage from a Comedy Central show. They need to make a fake weather show in the mornings so someone can complain that it doesn't have the journalistic integrity of the Weather Channel.

I read this, and in the same moment had a mental image of gibson in the movie "what women want", wearing a bra, red lipstick etc. calling a cop "sugartits".

The more I think about this, the stupider it gets. Not only did he accuse his network of being run by Jews, which would likely have precipitated firing anyway. He actually went out on a limb to challenge one of the most popular television personalities there is, a guy who made his public image by openly challenging politicians, pundits, and journalists.
Rick Sanchez should have been fired for incompetence for this, antisemitism be damned.

I don't know, I think in order to award points, both sides actually have to be playing.
It should really be a negative point to Sanchez. Frothing about Stewart could've resulted in comedy gold, but it was the shots he took at his own employer that cost him his job.

true. it says alot about sanchez that he reacted to all that heckling from stewart by melting down instead of.... you know.... coming back with some funnies of his own. or just saying "I think he's misrepresenting me here's why." what he said was just.... you know.... dumb.

Whether this is 'Gailbraithesque' or pure "tinfoil hat', I just had to jump in. Colbert and Stewart are totally over rated. I haven't watched them in years as I stopped watching TV a couple of years ago. All it is is propaganda disguised as comedy.
I also just wanted to use the word 'Gailbraithesque'.
