Hey Guys,
I stopped playing 40k for 5 months or so, and in the mean time the hobby store I used to game at, sadly closed.
I am looking for a club or a game in North New Jersey, I live by Boonton so closer is better. Even just a game with another player would be great, doesn't have to be at a club.
Thanks,
Divno

Which store did you game out of? I don't know of any stores that have closed recently, the only one that comes to mind is Dark Tower, which didnt actually close, it moved and changed names. It is now known as Mighty Titans Hobbies and Games.
As for gameing stores and clubs in the area.
Clubs:
- NJ Gamer, its a good group of guys that are mainly orginized to run events. However they hang out often and are a good group to play with.
Stores:
- All in One Collectibles, its a store thats just getting into wargameing, and its right in Denville. If your looking for a game of 40k and you show up on a Tuesday, you might find someone from NJ Gamer who wants to play.
- Mighty Titans Hobbies and Games, in my opinon the best store around to play in, located in Randolph. Its a large, clean, open store with plenty of play space and a good stock level. I'm usually there all day on Friday and usually have my 40k stuff with me.
- Time Warp Comics, the absolute best store around to buy stuff at. They carry more stock then I've seen in one area, but the stores tends to be cramped because its full of stuff. Thursday nights is the big 40k night there and you should be able to find an opponant.
Those are the big three stores that are close to you. There are some others but they tend to be a bit of a drive away. If you need to know about more stores let me know. If your looking for a game on Friday and can make it to Mighty Titans, I'm usually there, just ask for Pat.

Yes I did used to game at Dark Tower, I just assumed Dark Tower went out of business because the last time I talked to the owner before I took a break from the hobby said that he was having financial hardships.
Randolph and Cedar Grove are both around 20 minutes so that is a feasible option.
Once I get my Witch Hunters up and running and get all my things together I will try to come up and have a game.
Thanks a ton man, and hope to have a game soon.

Hi, I live in Edison, and game almost regularly at the Gameroom in Woodbridge, and once in awhile at the Only Game In Town in Bridgewater. If you think that drive is manageable, let me know, and maybe we can meet up.
Otherwise, once in awhile, I might be able to make a trip up to your area for a game.
When's your general availability?

I live in Mountain Lakes, which is right by Boonton if your familiar. Woodbridge and Edison are about 40-50 min away from me , so if we could find a close place in between it would be great.
Im available most of the day from 3-10ish, except for most Tuesday nights, although I can come on some Tuesdays.

Mighty Titans is the best to game at while Time Warp is my favorite store, I try and spread my money around though.
Send me a PM if you want a game, usually I can manage other nights as well.

The tabletops and terrain are pretty much available to the public for open play, really. The regulars go through phases of which game they want to play, and lately they've been really heavy into Warmachine, but once in awhile you'll find a 40K player. I got every now and then when I know there'll be people to play 40K, but if you want to meet up sometime for a game, I'm fine with that.
@Divino, I'll try to find a place closer between us, but having looked already yesterday, it seems that at least either one of us will have to make that 40-45 minute drive. I personally don't mind driving, provided we get to play a nice sized game or two (2000+ points).
So am I to understand that Tuesday is the only day where you won't be available at nights? Are you free just about any other afternoon and night?

I live in Phillipsburg, don't know if that would be considered Northern New Jersey but I play at The Portal in Nazerath PA and I am going to check out Dragonhead Distributions later on today to try to find another gaming venue for myself.

I've never played there before, on my next day off I might have to take a ride over. They don't seem to update their website frequently though.

@Rurouni Benshin It really depends on my workload so at the moment it is a lot of work but it should lighten up around winter, and a meetup in between sounds reasonable, once I get my Witch Hunters up and running I will defiantly give you an easy win. =P
@Catyrpelius For sure man, hopefully I'll be up and running not too long from now, Ill shoot you a PM
@Synister_Intent I would love to have a game, hopefully we can meet up sometime.

Maplewood Hobby in Maplewood, NJ is also a great option. Usually Fridays are their miniatures gaming days, and I'm there every Friday and Sunday. If you can't find someone to game with there on a Friday or Sunday, I'll be up for it.
Maplewood Hobby is also really into Malifaux.
Also, the aforementioned Time Warp Comics and Games in Cedar Grove is also excellent.
Both Maplewood Hobby and Time Warp Comics have a tremendous stock of products (at least compared to stores I've seen in North Carolina).
Send me a PM if you would like a game sometime.
EDIT: Consider joining the "NJ Gamer" Facebook group. It seems that much of Northern New Jersey has a very active gaming population.

Dark Tower isn't gone, its gone through owner problems and is now Mighty Titans in Landing NJ. If your gameing at Hobbytown your really selling the hobby short.

I know, its Hobbytown is not a very good venue, its small and not very active. I live in Sparta and not many places are close to me, everything is a commute for the most part, that all in one collectables places is in Denville which isn't that far. I don't know what days are for open gaming though.

Can't recommend Time Warp Comics enough. Yeah it can be pretty cramped, but its an awesome store with awesome people (the NJ Gamer crowd).
If you're just playing at Hobbytown, you're playing in the minor leagues of the hobby. As someone who played there loyally every sunday for over 4 years, I can tell you that it really is the worst possible store you could support. The staff there really could care less about the tabletop gamer community after management changes that went down years ago. Time Warp and other stores are like heaven by comparison.

Wow, I didn't realize NJ was so dang active.
I'm in Frenchtown, on the central/north cusp and a stone's throw from Buck's County. I'm going to have to just take a trip up to Time Warp and Mighty Titans to see what the fuss is about. I've already resigned myself to the fact that everything in the state is 30-45 minutes away from everyplace else.

Hey, as one of the owners of Mighty Titans Hobbies and Games I would be remiss to not post and recommend our store (which is in Landing now, off of Exit 28 on Rt. 80). We try to keep (at a minimum) 3-4 gaming table out and ready to play on every day. 40k focused nights are Monday and Thursday but of course people come and play whenever it fits them.
Time Warp is a good store as well. I haven't been down there on a Thursday in a while but I think there's still a lot of 40k going on there that night.

I swung by JHSC the other day. I must say that it is not as big as it use to be in it's new location, but there is still a good stock of 40k items. I have to say that it was very friendly in there as well, with a couple of gamers playing Fantasy and one 40k game. I am possibly looking to go back soon to get a game in after I finish up my SW army.
