My mate Rob is convinced that 'Crons are going to be the next big thing-and he has put his wallet where his mouth is. His logic is that they have been so nerfed that GW will try to redress the balance, and in so doing make them cheesiliy over powered. I. on the other hand, think he's been at the Special Brew again..Don't get me wrong, I like Necrons quite a bit, but I prefer to wait and read the codex..

So, do you think 'Crons will return cheeiser than a Pizza Hut Cheese Feast? Will GW make tham a balanced, powerful army, or will they remain underpowered??

There will certainly be hype when they get re-released, much like the fanfare given to the DE recently. They will also likely have some whacky rule to them (maybe an even cheesier version of FnP for their WBB roll, or actual Rending Guns), but whether or not it will be cheese will depend on the meta. If each Warrior now pops tanks like crazy, then people will certainly cry shenanigans since Mech armies will all die out due to Necrons obliterating them at every turn. If they just recieve Rending (which, to a S4 gun, still means you pop transportes pretty effectively) to their guns, probably not so much.

I wouldn't mind seeing a decrease in Mech though. Seems all too often I face a bajillion vehicles in a single game... Why take another choice of weapon other than melta when a large majority of the meta is in Mech? For fun, sure, if you want to win, not so much...

Mattieu~~~~ It's not that eldar are bad, it's that they require a lot of intergration between units. Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.

Rumors has it that they were working on an Immortals Plastic kit. if Immortals are indeed troops, Warriors would be rendered pointless other than just adding to the body count.

Or, they will jack the points price of immortals up, forcing you to decide on whether you want to have a large amount of utlility units, or if you want a small count of fire support units, or, mix and match both for some good utility.

My just started Necrons as well. I figure the new codex will be slightly over-powered but it will be balanced.

If Immortals are indeed getting a plastic kit, they'll either get a buffed effect or lowered in cost, to displace Warriors as their new Necron Cashcow.

Update their gauss weapons so they get rending on vehicles or a 6 penetrates or they all have lance or something I dunno, pick your favorite. Anything that makes massed gauss weapons threaten vehicles in a serious way. Watch the meta game cry tears of frustration and Necrons walk away feeling vindicated.

I can hope right?

The only way I can think of the army being more broken than the Blood Angels is if they gave the Necron lord the ability to raise new warriors during a game.

I really believe they will be balanced. The DE Dex is quite balanced, and a big improvement on the old one. I really don't think that Necrons are going to be give the ultimate in transport/tank popping technology, since currently everyone plays mech.

Tank poping is largely their gimmick right now. However Rending weapons would solve their problems quite nicely. Gameplay wise, Rending S4 weapons stand a good chance at poping transports and light tanks, and are quite effective against heavy infantry (which the Necron guns are suppose to do). The Destroyer's cannon, being S6, would be good at poping medium tanks if it has rending as well, as it would be a minimum penetration of 13 if it gets it's rending. This, however, is kinda pointless for the Heavy Gauss Cannon though, as it auto-pens anything on a 6.

Could give the Heavy Gauss Cannon it's own fancy Rending like rule where it gets AP1 on a 6 to Pen.

Given the recent power Creep, I wouldnt be surprised if the Heavy Gauss Cannon turned into a Railgun, or a Lance weapon. certainly fitting for them seeing as a Gauss weapon would be much better at penetrating armor than conventional las weaponry.

You probably meant cut their point cost in half, rather than double it. Why would making a model everyone has more expensive and thus fieldable in fewer numbers, make those people buy more of that model?

My only concern is what they will do with WBB I hope to God they don't replace it with feel no pain. talk about removing the essence of what makes the necrons unique.

That's why I think they might give the Necron Lord the ability to raise Warriors during a battle, otherwise Necrons would just be another Plague Marine army (FnP and T5 everywhere).

Speaking of which, if they do indeed go down that road, wouldnt Necrons be perfect for a Plague Marine Proxy army? Plague Bikers would be T6, same as the Destroyers, and the rending can be handwaved as the rounds causing the armor to rust on contact.
