No. Unless your wearing a suit in inclement weather, it just looks stupid. It does not make you look mysterious, or tough, or like a mobster.

very true, i used to wear that kind of suits while i worked as messenger (using motorcycle) when was raining, apart of it, i skip it for another kind of jackets, waring some sort of military suit in public makes you be seen as some sort of fascist (sad but true, at least in my country), or a homeless...

It makes you look like the kind of person who wants to pretend he might be hiding a weapon. Most people will think this is lame.

If that's a problem, I'd advise against wearing one.

Which is why they are rarely a problem in this part of Australia. Unless it's pissing down buckets.

Despite it being way too hot to consider a jumper, plenty of guys will wear trenchcoats. They'll tend to be in their early twenties, and many will have swords on the bedroom walls of their shared apartment.

Most of them will grow out of it before they reach 30.

One of my friends came wearing a trench coat with the hammer and sickle buttons and red lapels galore. He's a (wannabe) communist though, so I guess that's his thing.

On a completely unrelated note, for some reason I have a poster of Che Guevera in my bedroom. I liked that movied more than I thought.

I own a military trench coat, and a heavy black one. Both to the knee or slightly longer, but not long enough to cover the top of my boots.

I wore a jacket very similar to this for over twenty years,it's been retired now in favor of a plain black one.
Don't recall it ever being to cold to wear it...but then again..I was in New Orleans.

Actually Ram,if I have any real advice for you concerning "style of clothes",I'd say wear what you want to.
Basing the decision of how to dress yourself based on other peoples opinion is pointless (other than in attempts to be another round peg).

If your comfortable wearing a trench coat, and you like the way it looks...wear it.

Everyone conforms in one way or another, those of us who, back in the day,had foot high Mohawks and spiky leather jackets were simply conforming to a different dress code.
I'm simply telling him to wear what he likes.

Let's break this down.

Who Wears Trench Coats?

Fallout 3's Mysterious Stranger: Badass.

Old Dante: Badass.

Nero: Mostly Badass

My Character in Fable 2: Not really Badass, but the Trench Coat helps.

I want to wear one

Edit:

OH! And you know who else wears a Trench Coat?
