For those of us who don't want to try building our own, there's now a metal Bjorn on the advance orders section!

Now I'm tempted to have him and a rune priest as my HQ for my still-forming-in-my-head 1500 pt army. (love how 2 HQ units count as 1 for the wolves )

Lol it was in the rumors for a bit of time now. However I am glad they returned him. Too bad he doesnt come with the plasma cannon option though.

Now remember that I'm still new to the game as I ask this: what would be the use-cases for the assault and plasma cannons?

Also, is my idea of having the Rune Priest and Bjorn as my HQ for a 1500 point army a good idea? Or does it use up too many points?

Why in the heck would they make an 11 piece metal model ever? I guess you could use it as a weapon if you were mad at your opponent?

Personally I always prefer the Plasma cannon on Bjorn and ven dreads over Assault Cannons. Bjorn with a Plasma cannon will almost never miss. He can insta-kill Eldar, Dark Edlar, Imperial Guard and some Tau characters, as well as obliterate enemy terminator squads, not to mention make ass of any MEQ's day.

The Assault cannon is primarily good for taking down light vehicles, Space Marine Characters, and Eternal Warriors. It puts out alot of lead and with Bjorn's BS, almost guarentees all hits. Use it when you go up against multi-wound armies like Nidzilla or when you know you're going to face a Daemon prince or two. However honestly I like the Plasma cannon much more, as it's very adaptable in the hands of Bjorn.

@ Veritechc: That's an old dreadnought model from the 2nd edition. Back then almost everything was made of metal as GW was still a mail-order company.

Great model, cant believe GW still has it knocking around, must be 15/16 years old now.

The galaxy is the Emperor's, and anyone or anything who challenges that claim is an enemy who must be destroyed

My roomie does as well.

It's tin, it's a beast, and I swear one time he dented the floor with it.

Are they mocking this up as new?

800 brethren and 2,000 other personnel were expected to reach Crows World within no more than 12 hours. They never arrived.

I only converted an ancient bjorn into a non-SW venerable.. good to know I could get a new one should I ever feel the need to play viking werewolves in space again.

"We train young men to drop fire on people, but their commanders won't allow them to write "feth" on their airplanes because it's obscene!" (Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now)

And you know what's funny? "feth" is actually censored on a forum about a dystopia where the nice guys are the ones who kill only millions of innocents, not billions.

That's how things used to be.

A better question would be why would they make a 2 pound metal turret that sits on the back of a 6 oz plastic tank (We're looking at you old Fire Prism).

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Wow I thought the model was new. This makes even less sense then. Why would I want to but that for 50+ bucks when i could get a Dread with all the options and convert my own?

Indeed it aged very well. With the new paintjob you cant even tell it's a classic model. Shame on the price though. Now it costs 70 CAD. I remember when it use to go for only 45 CAD.

@ Veritechc: it's a collector's model and the true original Bjorn. You could convert a cheaper BT out of a Daemon prince and some Bloodletter champion head bitz too, but some people jsut prefer the old ones.

I really want to be excited by this, but I managed to get my hands on the FW SW dread, which I'm using for my Bjorn. If I didn't have that already, I'd buy this.

Should I use Bjorn as my second HQ instead of having a normal Dreadnought in my future 1500 point army? Or is it too point costly?

Are you serious??? Let me see if I get this straight here, (1) metal dread that costs $57.75, and it looks like a modded AOBR model. GW has finally lost their fething minds, who in the Emperor's universe would pay THAT much for THAT piece of junk! Jarvis and the GW clowns must really think that we're a bunch of independently wealthy retards with short term memory loss! unbelievable.

Rant over.
Initiating cool down protocols.

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

Technically the AoBR one would look like a modded version of this one.

Did you skip across the entire thread just to rant? =.=

This Bjorn model is one from the 2nd edition, and the original Bjorn model to boot. It's not a halfassed AoBR dread, the AoBR dread is a halfassed version of it. Granted the cost is obscene, but it's done in comparison to the Chaos and current Furioso Dreads.

I would only buy it for the claw however. The entire dread can be duplicated with a Ven Dread kit and some Space Wolves Pack additions (which shouldnt be hard considering all the bitz you get in that pack).

I like all the people bitching here. It's hilarious. It's a model older than most of the people complaining about it. I agree the cost is ridiculous, but it was an awesome model when it came out. It isn't too shabby next to a modern Dreadnought either.

I think most of the youngsters are just irked that they're paying a premium for a model that wont stand out much. However personally I think that's a testament to how well the model aged. It fits perfectly in even after how many years? (seriousLy I dont know the exact number of years since it came out).
