Only wolves can as pods are dedicated transports. However an IC in terminator armor may join a unit in a drop pod.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

For vanilla marines and wolves at least Shas'O is correct. I do not know about the other guys.

Nothing in the TDA prohibits them entering drop pods. However there is no way to buy the squads a DP. IC's in termi armor can drop with the squad they are attached to though.

Templars can do it as well. And their pod can shoot when it comes in.

And in exchange the pod is BS2. So its shooting is really only helpful if you fire a Deathwind and roll a "Hit!"

yes, they just count as two seats
depending on your codex though, terminators might not be able to take drop pods as transports
characters with the armor though can join a unit that does, but just takes two seats

Deathwind launchers rock, despite the BS of 2.

Sternguard with Termi librarian is something I swear by in a drop pod, so yeah.
Even if you could I wouldn't waste the points on loading a termi sq in a drop pod, as the termi squad can deep strike.

didn't the FAQ correct this for Templars? I know the Dark Angels drop pod is now BS 4.

Yeah. All DP's are now BS4.

I've even thought about picking a drop pod for dreadnought drops. Always was confused about putting terminators in there, considering Dark Angels don't get them for Deathwing, but the IC in Terminator armor plus troops makes sense now.

Where exactly is this stated; I am not seeing it in the BT FAQ.

The wording for POTMS in the BT FAQ does not mention upgrading the BS, so DP's are still 2.

On the flipside, they all have PoTMS so they can shoot when they show up, unlike anyone else's pods. Swings and roundabouts.

Yes, but you have to buy this option for IIRC 35 points.

Join the Imperial Guard. The pay's lousy, the battles fierce and you probably won't ever come back again. BUT you get a lasgun.

... Black Templars don't have to buy it comes with it and only 30pts ...
50pts and you're guaranteed to hit one unit with a Str5 Large blast. Note PotMS for BT is shooting at BS2 ...with only a 12" range I have seen the blast scatter onto the models that were inside ...

Under the couch

That's what they were just discussing. Everyone except Black Templars has BS4. BT, being an older codex, still has the older style pod with BS2.

...And while the FAQ for Dark Angels upgrades their drop pods to BS4, the Black templars have no such upgrade.

You know that Terminators already have deep strike, right? They can teleport onto the battle field just like a drop pod, so I don't see a reason for spending the extra points to get a DP.

Just not as safe when deepstriking. DPs have far greater survivability in terms of not triggering mishaps

a DP CAN'T mishap.. it just cannot happen.. they have the inertial guidance systems.. and deepstriking termies are likley to fail.. wich means a unit f 400+ pts just gone without fireing a single shot..

There are only certain things the inertial guidance will save you from. Going off the board for example will still cause a mishap as will placing the DP onto impassable terrain (say if there isn't anywhere else to place it on a terrain heavy board).
