Okay, the past Sunday, there was a 1500pt tournament, many players were fielding xenos armies, and there was one Space Wolf, IG(me), and Sisters army to protect the Emperor's realm from the foul infestation of the Xenos. The first scenario was objective oriented despite also having annihilation and most expensive unit as alternates. My list was a comp-cmnd with sniper rifle/medipack/standard/vox/power weapon+bolt pistol and Krak.

Vet squad: Hvy flamer/2 x flamers/vox/ power fist

Vet Squad: Hvy flamer/2 x flamers/ vox/ power weapon and bolt pistol.

Vet squad: Sgt. Bastonne/3 x meltas/ vox

All four on chimeras with Pintle hvy stubber/dozerblade.

Hydra flak tank w/camo netting.

Hellhound pintle hvy stubber, extra heavy flamer/ dozer blade.

Punisher with 3x hvy bolters/pintle hvy stubber/dozerblade

Leman russ/lascannon/pintle hvy stubber/sponson hvy bolters/dozerblade.

Here is the Nids line, The Carnifex was a Tyrannofex, it did not do any harm all game!^^

After seizing initiative, (I now remember that in objective based scenarios, that going second is better!) I opened fire after moving the Hellhound. This resulted in the reduction of many nids especially on the one flank, he made a lot of good cover saves to counter my dice rolling low amounts of wounds on the nids.

Oh, that is just the first part of the first battle! I have more to install when I get up after bed. I did my best, but I forgot one of the Mission Objectives and that tale shall be told, more story style.

only thing i have to object is the less fitting terrain for your nice minis...
and one thing further... your treatment of your soldiers send shivers down my spine...what a way to treat minis...

That sadly was all the organizer of the tourney's doing, rushed for time, and only Vasily and his boys have paint on them, the rest are unpainted so less worries there, but we were pressed for time to set up/play/finish. We were stopped by the 4th turn. The terrain was all the tourney organizer's terrain and that is how he set the tables up.

On the Industrial world of Calcinia, the Nids were amassing to see what biomass or other materials they could, The Khadrovian 801st Motor-rifles was the first to arrive, most of the people had been evacuated and the Motor Rifles under Major Chernenkin awaited the arrival of the nids, they did not have long to wait. The first order to fire resulted in halving one herd of the beasts, and the Hellhound moved out to fire it's Heavy Stubber at some of the hormogaunts, killing two of them.

This did not stop the monsters from advancing and firing the one gun from the Tyrannofex, fortunately, it's first shot did not impact very hard at all. The Hormogaunts assaulted the Hellhound, shaking it but leaving it mobile. It withdrew fro repairs so that the Inferno cannon could be brought to bear on the xenos.


More fire whittled down the bulk of the Nids, but they still kept coming, urged on by their command creatures. The herd with the prime hugged the cover of the storage facility [/img]

And the gaunts holding the outer objective took cover in a crater, in which they would suffer several rounds of fire.

One of the "cooking" squads moved up and eliminated the Hormogaunts, cooking all of them in a storm of heated promethium!
The Tyrant would move closer after that. [/img]

Having been wounded, the Tyrant assaulted the Punisher, revenge for the elimination of so many of the broods.It smashed the treads leaving the mighty tank no way to retreat, the veterans having packed back up and retreated back to the line to see if they could defend the Punisher.

The Hellhound was fixed and finally back into the fight.

hmm truly fascinating game/story, you´ve cought me line, hook and sinker for this battle^^
this is a real bad cliffhanger with which you leave us...
i hope the nids got it in the end...would serve these xenoscum right!

The veterans move! and they wound the Tyrant, the Hellhound also moves to deliver the flames of wrath on the gaunts!

As the battle rages on, and the moves are made, the second veterans with flamers move out to seize the second objective

With things looking better and better for the Guard, the Tyrant strikes the Punisher again and makes it unable to do much else, the fight seems to be winding down when the Tyran destroyed the Punisher!

This also began to be bad when the warriors finally arrived.

They arrived to watch the destruction of the Punisher by the Tyrant, the Guard held objective was then challenged with the arrival of the Zoanthrope in the IG deployment line, Vasily cursed as the thing warmed up it's attack, and smiled as it failed to hit the Hydra with it's mental lance.

Objectives were now held by both, and one was contested by both, Then, to the Veterans' surprise, the three surviving gaunts were ordered out to contest the central objective! Now both of the guard held objectives were in contention due to the moves of the vile xenos!

By the timetable the motor-rifles were operating under, they had no more time to clear the enemy! And the warriors had taken over guarding the nid held objective! Leaving them firmly entrenched!

The major pounded the comms as he screamed, "I just need a little more time!" inside the command chimera.

The orders came through, the 801st was to be removed and sent elsewhere, and the planet to be bombed.


Yep. sadly, the Guard lost due to the wacky way the conditions were set. both the Nid player and myself were aware that he would have lost if we had turn five. The dice around the command tank were pretty much the way they went most of the game, allowing the three gaunts to be there to seize the objective in turn 4. Had the 'thrope shown up in turn three, I could have swept the thing and it's pod out of the way.

Next installment, Turn two! The Wolves at the door!

Good game. Though it appeared as though the guard player had an almost tailored list for the tyranids. (I'm not saying you did) after all thats a heck of a lot of flamers for an all-comers list.

Oh, I know, but I was also expecting Orks, several flavors of Eldar, and one dark eldar player and Tau. the only other armies that were human were Space Wolves, and Sisters.

I did have a veteran squad for tanks and suits (3meltas) which could also take out the tanks.

In the end, I left the table with moist of my army intact, (One Punisher lost), and the Nids had 11 models left.

your oponent semmed very low on motivation it seems...
too bad the conditions were the way they were...
for advice, what could you have made different that had made you win? would it have been possible at all?

the battle reminds me a bit of the lost by the rebels at hoth of star wars... i really hate retreats...

Yeah, an Eradicator would have been capable of killing more as it does not allow cover saves!

do you own one? had a google search and there seems a bit of confusing... saw a tank with a missle ontop and also a leman russ with a bigger gun than usual...

Eradicator is the one with what looks like a Hellhammer cannon, it fires the 5" plate and denies cover with that blast. I in fact have one, made from a normal Russ and the Hellhammer option from the Baneblade.

*cough---made a lil download---cough* and now know fully well what it is^^ so i am up to date in the grey area^^

seems the vehicle park is as big as it gets with the guard...

Plenty of variants in Guard service Vik.

Battle 2: Rumble in the Jungle, Space wolf Commander and wulfen with wingedclaws, venerable dreadnought, razorback with Longfangs, Fenrisian wolves, greyhunters in rhino, 2nd team in rhino, scoutw with wolf lord and wulfen.

After the lifting off from Calcini, the 801st Motor-Rifles was taken to the planet Verdania, a jungle world in this small cluster of six worlds contested by aliens! The units were breaching the remains of an Ork Village when the Auspex on the command vehicle detected the movement of vehicles and creatures. "Prepare to engage possible Ork attack force." The Major announced over the comms. What came out of the brush confounded and then alerted the Major, Space Wolves! famous for their ferocity once they were into the battle, he knew there was only one way to take control of the crystal structure, they would have to fight for it, and dominance of the area, the Hydra set up on the right, and the Hellhound moved to the left, followed by the two veteran Bar-B-Q teams. After that, the Long fangs came out of their transport, the rhinos closed in and they and the dreadnought popped smoke dischargers to obscure themselves.The Wolf captain and his jump-pack team closed in.

One of the Rhinos did get stunned by fire from the Hydra and Punisher tanks, the Hellhound sped on and the two veteran teams got out to help face the bloodclaws and commander of the wolves, reducing them down to the lord and wulfen as fire and heavy stubber fire took their toll amidst rifle fire from the squads as they poured on the shots.

The situation seemed well in hand when the Wolf scouts with a lord and wulfen attached came from the flanks and they did what the Longfangs could not, they wrecked the Leman Russ which had been harassing the Longfangs. The Wulfen and commander meanwhile managed to win the close combat that they initiated and ran off the surviving veterans in the one team, leaving things to the other team. Vasily and his "Violators" came out of the Chimera to deal with the scouts, and with the support of the Command chimera, shot the scouts down to the man, and the wulfen too. The Wolf Lord ran off after deciding that discretion was the better part of valor, he headed towards his own lines.

Once his bloodlust was riled up, the Wolf Lord commander was looking to sate the blood lust, he headed towards the second vet team, they would be wise and would in their chance, load back into their Chimera.

wow, nother epic battle...too bad its based on misunderstandings...for my part i never understood the need fluffwise of squabbles between imperial forces...seems there is enough enemy material out there in the 40th millenium thats that not needed too...

in the first pic the orchideout sis shown...i own a copy of that too^^...cool^^

for now your guardsmen look highly efficient against the wolves...i hope it stay that way^^

Swiss style tourneys can do that though, place same race armies against each other!

But yeah, the fluff is made to fit the situation, sad as it may be.

Well, sadly, they have had experience against Marine types before!

Despite the Hydra's and the Punisher's best efforts to immobilize or destroy the rhinos, it just wasn't happening for both, only one was immobilized, making the Space Wolves leave it, but the other rhino moved in closer to engage the Guard. Vasily and the "Violators" knew that it was better to do the attack than be attacked so they would pile back into the Chimera when they could. This would of course force the 801st to re-shift as the Major wanted to reach the crystal spire to plant a beacon on it.

The wolves moved in closer, but they would then be hit by the Punisher and the Hydra, later reducing their numbers down to four.
The other hunters had gotten out, and the Long Fangs managed to have missed with their attacks this time. The Crystal formation was now needing to be cleared of the attacking giants in powered armor.

The Hellhound, unable to harm the Dreadnought, crashed and bulldozed it's way through the jungle growth into a new area. The veterans had shifted away from the Lord and the Chimera and the empty Chimera took out the Mighty wolf and braced for the attacks by the Dreadnought which was stomping down the field at them. The empty chimera went through the growth to be between the command vehicle and the dreadnought, the command chimera also crashed through the growth and fired on the last wolf lord, but his armor held firm.

The last shots would see the walking Gray Hunters reduced, the same happened to the ones from the rhino as the Chimera and some of Vasily's men fired on them. The Command Chimera was still not close enough! BUT the wolves were depleted after the shooting of the 801st and the day was held by the Guard and their stubborn defense against the fearsome foe!

The area was more under control by the 801st as they had spread out and the wolves moved in to a concentrated point. The wolves had also lost more units and men than the 801st, making the the IG the winners of this battle, after which, the General and the Wolf Lord in orbit were able to finally make it clear that due to confusion, the two forces clashed while there were xenos to hunt and kill instead.

what i lkie here at your tourny is the fact that you seem to have many different tables to play on. that way you get the feeling you do have different battles to fight and dont get in a position to feel like completing chores...nice and fresh...

Death in the Desert!

After that scary episode on the jungle, the Major was informed that they were headed someplace less "sticky" with drier air than that humid rank jungle. When he looked at the planet below he saw a rare sight, the planet was totally orange, and no sign of snow or Ice, a desert world, "Great, all of the troops can be ready for hotter conditions." he muttered at his aide. They had to make sure the planet, this sand-pit named simply Purgatoria was apparently disputed by the Tau. "This place gives me a bad feeling." He said. Sgt Vasily snorted, "No worries, I will make sure that there is some retributive suffering on the Xenos if they are there!" at which point the vehicles were released onto the surface via heavy lander.

This was what greeted them. Desolate, open, too open! and there were Tau nestled out there with Broadsides! five were counted, these were bad, as they could wreck the 801st in mere moments unless dealt with quickly!
on the left flank of the 801st was this sight:

The center was even worse! three of the suits in a concentration, the Leman Russ commander was certain a good battle cannon blast followed by lascannon could see them running. The Punisher was chugging along besides the Leman Russ, the transports on either flank of the heavy tanks.

Unfortunately, they would never get the chance to see if that would be true as the Tau marked them up and the Broadsides in a single moment utterly destroyed the Punisher, it';s explosion terrible, yet beautiful to behold, as it made the appearance of a high speed film of a flower opening it's petals, the armor plain and dark giving way to the bright orange and yellow of the fiery explosion, the crew vaporized as the ammo and fuel ignited. The Leman Russ was also stricken, blowing the turret off and leaving the ruined hull smoking on the battlefield. The bulk of the 801st's long range killing power, gone in seconds!

The Hydra, positioned in a ruin, with it's cammo net unfurled, fired back, and managed to wound a Broadside. The Hellhound moved forwards and fired it's one long ranged weapon, the Heavy stubber barked but hit nothing. The Veterans on the right flank were well hidden, and would move to take an objective early. The other chimeras fired and claimed a lone firewarrior on the right flank.

i hope the wretched xenos get it in the end...but the broadsides seem a rather ugly tough nut to crack...

this sounds like a job for Vasily's men ...maybe they would be able to crack some of them open to even the scales a bit...

the terrain is more to my liking by the way.... did you ask the organizator if this was hirst arts stuff?

ah the famous aquariom stuff... one of these days i will definatly buy some pieces there in our local zoo shop. there is lots of good stuff to use there... even the more ruined looking ships would be a good adition to a table... new paintjob of course but then there is little stopping for epicness...
