Looking at artwork and photos of models it's appearant that all the space marines always have all their teeth. This leads me to wonder if they grow back because you can't get in some of those scraps for hundreds of years and not get a single one knocked out.

And if this is true, wouldn't they be a choice prize for orks looking for cash?

Augmetic teeth?
I haven't heard of them growing back...
Maybe they simply haven't been punched in the face hard enough...

But have you EVER seen a picture or model where they are missing some? Even a picture of a space wolf who has had one of his canines knocked out would be fluffy.

I think you will break your fist long before you break any teeth on Space Marine.

Perhaps the Ossmodula reinforces the teeth with ceramic composites as well as the rest of the Marine's bone structure? In any event, in fluff even high-ranking Marines do in fact wear their helmets in battle. If a blow or projectile can smash through a Space Marine's helmet, it's also going to smash a lot more than a couple teef.

There's a guy in the Black Templar book, Helsreach who had his mouth messed up by a sniper round to the face.
He carried the Crusade Banner for Grimaldus and had steel teeth and a pretty wicked scar from his injury.

They'd have to be pretty strong and durable. Remember, Space Marine saliva is acidic unless you're an Imperial Fist.

Seeing how the progenoids would prodice Stem Cells to keep the marine functionally immortal it isn't implausable for a marine's teeth to grow back.

marines could even have been designed to just grow in new sets of teeth every so often.

Regular humans can get 2nd sets of teeth(rare, but it happens) so a marine getting additional sets isn't unreasonable.

perhaps every 50 years or so he gets new teeth in.

Space Wolves keep their Canines and grow wicked fangs, but they could be replacable.

I just picture this ork warlord with a couple marines chained up in a dungeon pulling their teeth every time they grow back. Would be a rare prize and would make for a fun Deathwatch campaign too

I guess Space Sharks do change them often xD

But! While not augmentic, they may use prosthetic teeth, like we have nowadays. Imagine a Space Marine captain trying to give an encouraging speech before battle and it ends in babble and spitting because he's missing half of his teeth. Not truly epic.

I was under the impression that space wolves (and marines in general) had teeth the strength of ceremite. I can't remember where i read that though.

They probably just grow back-can't have a 10ft superhuman mumbling with falsers =P-, and also being incredibly strong too. They aren't depecited without them in art mostly because the artists want to give the invinsible warriors of humanity look, and guys without teeth mostly just come across as pirates or silly looking vilians, I suppose.

Do we know what kind of acid is in their saliva? That would certainly limit what their teeth could be.

+1 internets to you sir.

Ok. Let's look at this from another angle. With the exception of mutations, and other freakish modifiers, has anyone ever seen a chaos space marine missing teeth?

Look if marines, can have limbs repaired and augmetic limbs, then teeth are not a major problem. I take your point of being smashed in the grid by a power fist will take some teeth, but marines would get ceramic or metal replacements. It's not like they eat much anyway (except at occassional ceremonial feasts, they seem to eat processed pastes IRC). All told at least they don't have teeth like "Jaws" out of the bond films.

Maybe SM apothecaries have a dentist formation then?

I'm not being super serious. Just something that got me thinking. There are definately numerous ways for them to function without them or with replacements.
