Just a quick question: Would Sisters of Battle use Vox transmitters to communicate? I'm writing a piece of background about my Order and I was about to mention a Vox transmission when I realised that I didn't know if they'd use it or not...

While I'm by no means a fluff buff, it makes sense to me. Isn't Vox the standard form of imperial comm? Both SM and IG use it IIRC, so makes since the Sisters would as well. I'm just making a EWAG, but I would say its a safe bet.

Well, all Imperial forces seem to use vox transmissions. I guess SoB use it too.

In addition, since I've never heard of anything like a "SoB vox trooper" like in the guard, I guess all SoB power armors are equipped with vox systems.

Much like space marine power armor I would assume.

All IG Troopers are equipped with a short ranged comm bead.
All SM have a similar comm bead but more powerful.
SoB would be somewhere in between.
PDF troopers (Unless well equipped) usually don't have comms beads.

Really? i thought it was only sub-officers and officers that were equipped with comm bead. And the crews of imperial vehicles.

Nah when you read the list they are pretty damn well equipped for 'expendable cannon fodder'

Yes, even guardsmen have commbeads, which are short ranged vox communicators. Commbeads are there to communicate on the squad level, while voxcasters are there to communicate on the platoon level up.

I personally think they have the same stuff as Marines but i'm not sure on how availible it would be for them... probably the same come to think of it.

I don't see why the Ecclesiarchy wouldn't purchase quality comm systems for Sisters of Battle power armor?

Despite what the fanboys claim, Marines don't always get the best, and even in cases where they do, it doesn't mean they're the only ones that get it.

depends on the regiment, units raised from say a feral world wouldn't have them because they wouldn't know how to use them, except for maybe higher echelon personnel who would be fully indoctrinated in its use.

Regiments from civilized and higher worlds would have short range comms.... well.... unless the world is based off the USSR...

SoBs should be equipped with them since their equipment is standardized and provided for by the largest religious organization in the galaxy.

Pretty much all feral world regiments are taught how to use the standard guard equipment... Lasguns, com beads etc

I'd assume that they would have a vox, seems rather silly if they didn't.

And I'd have to say I think Space Marine power armor would be consistantly better than Adepta Sororitas' power armor, simply because a Chapter has hundreds of skilled/experienced artificers, who constantly change/improve the chapters armory. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't know if the Sisters have that luxury.

I'm sure coming from the factory, they would be indentical, however.

All is forgiven if repaid in Traitor's blood.

I might be wrong, but I think that the only real difference between Marine armour and Sister armour is that Sisters don't have the additional organs that allow them to better interface with the armour. As such, they don't use the advanced life-support or strength-enhancening functions that a Marine does (In this codex at least...) So to answer my own question and to concur with those that answered for me, vox would seem to be a standardised power-armour implant.

The SoB power armor is considerably less bulky than standard marine suits but still provides the same protection - surely only the best materials and craftsmanship went into creating each suit. What the SoB suits lack is the extra lifesupport capabilities marine suits come equipped with. No personal medic unit, no autosealing sections and very limited recycling systems for hostile environment operations.

Plus Sisters have things that Marines don't have to recipricate, for instance the psycho-occular functions of the helmet. So their armours are good in different ways.

Actually marine helmets have that as well...
They are similar in basically everyway except for the marine specific bits like the black carapace plugs.

The latter I'm not so sure about, but yes, no personal medic unit, no autosealing unit, etc is pretty accurate, assuming Marines have these things (I don't recall them being mentioned in Deathwatch). THey do have very similar vacuum protection though, but Marines can make better use of it due to their biology.

Oh, they DO have a vox, that is indisputable (it's been mentioned in several fluff sources, the most recent of which is the Dark Heresy supplement, but also in the Cain novels). It's the quality that people aren't sure about.

Mind you I have problems with the Dark Heresy supplement myself due to it contradicting C:WH on the subject of armor values, so YMMV. DH has to balance things out because Sisters basically get these things for free giving them a large advantage over other DH characters.

There's no real debate that they do have those things. Hell, Astartes Scout armor has the personal medicae, vacuum capability, etc.

The "autosealing" is less of an "auto" thing and more of a "applying a patch to the armor which does the sealing for you" instance though.

I thought marine power armour comes with the "cut-off-your-arm-and-seal-the-suit" bits for larger breaches? You know, internal blade/doors that can shut off a whole limb if the armor is compromised?

The sealed sections was probably from some short story - one of the page or half-a-page ones. Marines assaulting a Tau position during the Damocles debacle I think. I recall that one marine got a reprimand from the commander for recklessly wasting ammo on enemies when less would have been enough.
