I just received the new Succubus figure. Assuming that the blister I got was not defective, the figure is a waste of money. The figure's only options are an agonizer and an impaler - no shardnet, no close combat weapon, no splinter pistol, and nothing else. Worse yet, if you were interested in using the agonizer, it's on the wrong arm with respect to all the other Dark Eldar bits, which means to get either a blaster or a splinter pistol with it will require MASSIVE modification. From the perspective of the game, the figure is nonsensical crap. The image shows you exactly what you get, which isn't generally a unit someone would field:

Dude,chill just a little.
Ok so the model has no options.
Just put a gun on the base and say it's hers, she just put it down or something.
And I mean,if you just play with your friends, then I know they won't object to a model without WYSIWYG.

That is a brilliant model. yes it may be hard to customise but why are you bothering with the hobby if you want everything done for you ? Personnaly I think it is one of the best dark eldar models gw has ever released, look at the detail and how well sculpted that thing is. If you don't like it's options just convert it from a regular wych. Remember, some of us enjoy the hobby. I would feild it just because of how nice it is.

Converting and personalizing models to your taste is all part of the hobby.
Besides, if you put your mind to it, and make some effort, then the conversion that you aim to achieve will stand out, and you'll also feel proud of a unique mini.
I think you may be over-reacting a little.

So the term converting and kit bashing has never crossed your mind? Or the fact puting all those options in the Blister would make the price massive. Few GW kits contain all the options and blisters even less.

If someone were to just like the figure as it is, that's one thing. From my perspective, however, it's not aesthetically any different than one of the plastic Wyches, and since I'd have to sacrifice a Wych to get the bits to convert her to a basic, vanilla Succubus, there's just no point to having her. The other annoying thing is GW's website seems intentionally vague on what she comes with. All they say is, "This miniature is fully compatible with plastic Dark Eldar kits, enabling you to convert your Succubus with any spare weapons from your Dark Eldar collection," which is not really true (more on that in a moment). Most metal figures I've purchased in the past at least come with enough options to make a basic, unmodified unit. Not the Succubus. It comes in a configuration which (although legal) I have never seen anyone play. Most DE players I've seen either have the Succubus with a Blaster and CC, or else with a Splinter Pistol and CC. This figure comes with a whip and what could be thought of as an impaler, and that is all. And, if you wanted to convert her using a spare Wych arm, you'd have to replace BOTH arms, because unlike what GW's website says, the figure is not fully compatible with standard Wych bits. All Wyches have a pistol in their right hand and a CC in their left. For the Succubus, the whip is in her right hand, meaning you cannot use it with any pistol configuration.
Now, of course, if someone wanted the figure as it is for purely aesthetic reasons, then by all means don't let anything I've said stop you from getting it. However, if all you want is a vanilla Succubus HQ unit, you'd be far better off modifying a plastic Wych.

You can easily convert the model by adding the spare Slinter Pistol provided in most of the box sets.

If gw included every option a succubus can have it would be very expensive to produce. Most blister packs don't come how you want them but gw desighns things on how cool they look rather than how they perform in the game.

When I saw the model I decided I would never use it because it's the most horrid looking female i've ever seen. Seriously, if it werent for the terrible attempts at chest-lumps, I'd have to say it was a dude. This goes for some of the wych options as well. I mean, some of those ladies apparently lift weights like catachans...
If I want to use a succubus, I will probably be either creating one from Wych parts or using Lelith's new build. Although the new Lelith is a bit more toned than I would like, she's actually workable with the right paintjob.

My reaction was: who fields a succubus? They don't even get the good options that archons or harmies get. They don't really get anything that you really can't get elsewhere either.
If you don't like, then just kitbash one from wyche parts. In fact the metal models in pretty much ALL of GWs range are often just better off being kitbashed from plastic kits.

Um, I don't see what the problem is with the model not coming with options. No metal models come with spare options as far I'm aware. You buy exactly what's shown, usually in 1 or two pieces.
Also, while metal might be a little harder to work with, converting it isn't really that difficult.
I think the OP is overreacting.

A number of models from the 3rd/4th era have multi-option metal models. Ex: the current Canoness model. Awesome model with all the wargear in metal. This was replaced by multi-option plastic not that long after.
I think the OP is overreacting.

well, if all you want is a vanilla, no nonsense succubus, and why you do I have no idea, the weapon in her left hand is perfectly legal to call it an ordinary close combat weapon, or you could use a splinter pistol, and a close combat arm left over from a wych box. it's really a no brainer. I do think it would've made more sense to make interchangeable special weapon arms, like they did for the archon, it doesn't take much work, or thought to get any configuration that you want.

I like the model. I don't see a need for it because a Succy is basically just another wyche, but it's still a decent model. I also disagree with your claim that massive modification is needed to make the model useable. If you can't chop a hand off at the wrist and replace it without it being a major undertaking, you are in the wrong hobby.

The GW design team specifically said that the Succubus was meant to be used as a base for conversions, which I for one welcomes (GW in recent years have lost alot of the hobby aspect). If you're so worked up about getting an Agonizer that you cant use, why not just use the plastic one on the Wych Sprue? Or, as many others have pointed out, just take a clipper to the girl's hand and replace it with the pistol. It's not like they're asking you to sculpt a Pistol from scratch.
There's also the option of just clipping off a Blast Pistol and gluing it to her bum. Holstered weapons are still there and is perfectly reasonable that she holsters her pistol in combat (and I would think it badass for her to have two Agonizers in combat, even if you cannot legally field it).
Granted it's no SM Commander. But at least it's better than the CSM Chaos Lord in Power Armour (and even without the modular arms all other SMs have, he is still not a massive modification).

This model offers nothing that the plastic wych kit does not. If you simply want more detail, you can greenstuff it on the plastic. This model is much more work to convert to your specific gear choices than using the wych box and some green stuff.
I made my succubus in january from the wych box, I see no reason to get this model. It does look nice, but then all the DE stuff has a huge amount of detail on it.
This model is nothing special. Its slight increase in detail is not compensation for the increased difficulty of a conversion over the plastic.

In general the same could be said for almost all HQ choices (bar a few who have no counterparts in the bread and butter section of the army), since there's always a cheaper alternative in the plastic range.

Well, it is on p47 of the BRB. In friendly games, most people are willing to let WYSIWYG slide if you're test-driving new ideas, but the other posters were right to say that tournaments could be an issue, as they are often less forgiving.
