After a hiatus from 40k and the mini painting world, I'm coming back in full force with my old flame of Grey Knights.
The fluff for these guys kicks ass and well they are badasses. Building a competitive purifier list with these guys and this is the start so far.
Working completely with Vallejo Paint. Armor Color is Chaos Black>Cold Grey>Wolf Grey>Dead White.
Very much WIP at the moment.

Are vallego paints better than citidel(gw) paint

Personally, I prefer the squeeze bottle and the consistency. I don't have extended use to know how they hold up colorfast wise or anything though...

@Seanzor: Looking good so far; can't wait to see them in person.

@Rise: In my opinion they are; the bottles are better, the consistency is better and I just like how it flows as I brush compared to GW. Sadly I'm not fully converted over yet.

Ya I've only ever used gw paint but a lot of people seem to like vallago and p3 paints more.

Got reds in today on army. Slightly modified GK colorscheme, but keeping with traditional GK colors.

@ zor: loving it...Did you use a airbrush? and what red is that on the Shoulder Pad?

Just to give a little background and some goals of the army...
Overview:
Strike Force Aether...
Formation of Purifiers 50 Brothers strong along with a selection of highly mobile, specialized brothers from the 6th Brotherhood of the Grey Knights. The induction of this many Purifiers within such a short period of time is boding to be double edged blade. For when so many Brothers prove themselves to be worthy of Purifier status, it also foreshadows a darkness coming from the Warp.

A group of feral worlds by the name of Siptox III, IV and V are currently giving rise to daemonic invasion. The people on these planets are being overtaken by plague and killed by bloody, twisted sacrifice. A distress signal has been heard and Strike Force Aether is being formed to answer the call. Their goal is to overtake each invasion quickly and with razor sharp precision. Purifiers are being called to action due to the sensitivity of this issue. These three worlds have a strong psyker presence among the native population. Because of that, these worlds are prime harvesting ground for Grey Knight recruits. With as many as a dozen of the Purifiers coming from these worlds alone.

Right now my modelling has been a little boring to get the painting going. Mostly just going straight by the box for building. Once I have my 1850 pt army I'll start having a little more fun. I have my green stuff and pin vice shipment coming in today so within the next couple days I should have something cool started.

Thats going to be one very impressive force once done. cant wait

Just to give a little update...Got my pin vice and some bits tonight. Drilled the barrels on all the PA guys and converted the first two TL AC arms for dreads. 2 more sets to go. Using IG Weapon Team ACs, they are good enough for me. Will get pics up when I have 3 sets done.

Painting to resume after I get rhinos and dreads primed, as I have an airbrush on borrow and I'd like to get it back to my buddy in a somewhat timely manner

@Kenshin...Maxing out 4 Per Squad in all my purifier squads. I don't mess around. 24" Anywhere around me will be kill zone.

Got some work done today with Dread Arms and such. 3 pairs of TL AC arms for my psyriflemen dreads.

Okay, worked on weathering a rhino today.
Feedback wanted and maybe a little bit of Weathering guru-talk. Trying to get the idea that they've been out in some gnarly places out getting work done.







Mostly just done with Black washes and drybrushing so far. Paint chips are probably going to have to happen, probably some rust. Feedback and comments welcome!

As for the rust/weather, were you looking to do the physical feel of rust/weather or just painting rusty/weather worn spots?

Just painting worn and rusty spots primarily.

Well one way you can do it is take layers of black brown and red and spottly dry brush / dab spots, prolly best in creases and lower end near the treds and such.

It looks like you have a good beginning, but you may need some more variety in weathering. Segef has a good suggestion; could also do the spots around the tops of the doors since that's where it'll hit the ground as they charge out. Were you going to do dirt/mud by the treads? Also, I have some Tamiya weathering master if you want to try it; kind of like weathering make-up for vehicles and stuff.

Maybe I can finish it tomorrow. Just a little bit more to do. Feeling like I'm getting this.

Put in my order for the rest of my Grey Knights to beat the price increase deadline. This is basically the next 2-3 years worth of army growth being bought today, but this is my big list.

28 boxes of power armour!? You crazy! Seriously though, that rhino is looking awesome, and that loin cloth is making your chapter master look very dynamic already. Can't wait to see more!

Going with Halberd and SB on him. The big halberd from the terminator box set with the long wavy purity seals just matches with the current dynamicism of the tabard and pose so I felt driven

Okay, so I did some painting (kinda boring, I'll show after tomorrow night's painting...that should be something worthwhile)...but I got a sizeable amount done on mr. zor my grandmaster. I did some together putting...and made his right shoulderpad.





Mocked up with the new shoulderpad. But Seanzor?!? That makes no sense, why would Zor, your namesake, have a ravenwing-esque shoulderpad. Well I must tell you, because likenesses shall display likeness!

Camera is currently out of my possession, but I've been working on the Dreads and Rhinos getting them weathered and getting some more freehand done on them. Also getting all the squads up to TTQ+ before tourneys in the next couple months.

Got to play my first games with my 1500 point list and I gotta say that I'm not a fan of ordnance heavy Mech IG lists, but I'll figure it out.

Played a straight Purifier/Psyrifleman list. Its what I've got readily available and painted and it helped me to envision my tactics for future lists.
