I know that the tyranids are born from norn queens and things like that.
But if a group of tyranids get left behind on a planet out of the influence of the hive mind could they reproduce
Not like the genestealers as I know they make cross-breeds.

Not really specified I don't think, but I would think that certain groups would go through a natural if accelerated cycle of evolution. Perhaps some would change into becoming "queen" organisms. I know that at least some of the higher evolved creatures can produce new Tyranids by themselves.

There are organism's thought to be descended from old hive fleets.

I belive all Gaunt subspecies can lay eggs via Asexual reproduction. the laying of unfertilized eggs.


this actually allows a new hive fleet to eventually be created.


a hive fleet is destroyed, but some gaunts survive on several planets.


they revert to being a predatory species, but their numbers slowely grow. as more biomass is achieved, the hivemind can direct birthing pits to be built. eventually, a new hive ship can be created.


the gaunts can also be eradicated/not enough biomass and the fleet can truly die.

There is a problem if not a single Synapse creature survives though surely?

That's only necessary to remain Tyranids and to accomplish the Hive Minds goals. Without it, the gaunts revert to basic animal instinct, and likely some pre-programmed effect.

the Hive Mind is the collective conciousness for all Tyranid creatures.


the Synapse creatures are what allow it to achieve direct control, but it could controll the creatures subconciously or program them to do what it wants when certain ques are achieved.


sort of like Lemmings. when you get this many lemmings, this many of you need to jump off the cliff.

when you get this many gaunts, build this birthing pit so i can birth a hive tyrant.

Indeed, that's actually what hapened during the war between the Ork Empire of Octarius and Leviathan.

During the battle of Ghorala, all of the fleet's bio-ships were destroyed by the orks, however, enough tyranid creatures had made planet-fall during the space battle to conquer the planet in a long guerilla war and amass enough resources to create new bio-ships.

I did read somewhere that Gaunts come in both male and female, which may be owing to the huge amount needed, as saving bio-matter must be a priority.

To be fair, China and India are the most densely populated nations on earth at 1.4 billion and 1.25 billion respectively, I hardly found it racist, but people get offended too easily mate, and internet is not a good place for er.. context?

Americans are knows for being economically strong, fun and intellectually weak people. Europeans are known for culture, history and wars. Africans are known for history, culture and battles for Human rights. Jews are known for thrift, religion and being prosecuted thought history because of jealousy.

Ahhh the Internet - imagine the possibilities.....

I can honestly say that was believable until the Triangle thing........ money talks people. Not to mention any people that got right answers were cut out, it could have taken a long time to put this together for the reason many people could have been found that knew all the answers.

Well, up in Canada we had a segment on all the time called "talking to Americans" which was the same sort of thing. And then Jay Leno has his Jay Walking which is the same thing too. So actually you can throw one of these together in an hour.

Some tyranids (mostly gaunts) are able to reproduce sexually, other than that, it's all spawning pits.
