Gaunts can be litterally a real pain for a planet.
A small group landing, can easily split in the countryside - hunting - and lay eggs everywhere... It seems to be a common threat, even when planets are heavily defended, in the first time of an invasion.

I know the gaunts have a very fast metabolism but how much time are we talking here?

"Strike first, strike hard, no mercy."
"We are judged in life by the evil we destroy."
"I am going to drastically thin the enemies ranks."

They reproduce through cold-blooded sweaty lizard-insect sex.

Jokes aside, they lay eggs shortly after they're born, which will eventually hatch into their children.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.
