I was wondering if you guys/gals knew what the Geneseed base is for GK and I cannot find it for the life of me.

I don't think there is any definite base for the Grey Knight geneseed, it's all very secret, but it is rumoured that their geneseed is based from the geneseed of the Emperor himself.

Thats because there is no info on it apart from rumour, as GW wants it. It is rumoured that because they are so pure their geneseed is based on the Emperor's own genetics.

Its rumored to be based on the Emperor.

The chapter did have founding members from many different Legions so there is some geneseed from other sources, but most of it is from the original stock.

the Geneseed line was in existance before the Heresy. its possable the Emperor made it as a backup supply of super geneseed(based on himself instead of a primarch)

so essentially, the GKs are mini-primarchs in that they trace their lineage directly to the Emperor.

one of the missing Legions is called "The Forgotten"

its possable the Emperor destroyed this legion to use their pure geneseed for the GKs.

no matter what, the Emperor had planned the creation of the GKs out. possably as a replacement for the Adeptus Custodes.

Where does this info/idea come from. I've never heard this and it seems improbable due to the complete lack of knowledge about the 2 lost legions.

Exactly, Angry Marines became even more upset when they got the boot, and Rainbow Warriors... well... you know.

There is only rumor, that the Geenseed is from the Emperor himself...
And frankly - I wouldn't be surprised if that rumor was true...

I have always liked to think that Big-E and his helpers sampled geneseed from the loyal SMs from the traitor Legions and built a new SM geneseed for the GKs incorporating lessons learned.

Maybe the GKs actually carry the geneseed of Horus. Kinda like a flu shot. They injected Tainted Chaos Horus-y geneseed into the marines so that they knew what it was and how to fight it.

Oh man that would be a twisty twist.

That would mean that every GK is full of corrupted organs, opening up all kinds of mutations, kind of a terrible story line.

Horus' original geneseed should be fine... he's only physically corrupted after being "brought back" through Chaos ritual... his stock back on Terra should work great (though I can't see it being any better than any of the others either).

I've always thought the hints were there that they were one of the missing two legions (with the other being folded into the Warrior Kings of Ultramar)... but those hints could have been red herrings.

Except their Geneseed wasn't built up from one of pre-exisiting stock, it's a completely new geneseed. Now there are those who like the traitor geneseed theory (fair enough to them) but it's only a fan theory and one that has never really been alluded to in text.

all we really know is that the Geneseed had been around and hadn't been used.

there isn't any more evidence that it came from the Emperor then evidence it came from Horus.

aside from GW supporting the Emperor rumor.

Rumour? It's not like the paragraph providing details start with a "Legend says..." type statement this time. Or are you talking about the whole 'Imperial Propaganda' thing?

QFT. None of that is even hinted at. Grey armor? They had very pale Grey armor, same with The Death Guard with a marble color, The Word Bearers with a darker shade, and The Iron Warriors, who I assume actually have the closest shade. Basically, it's not hinted that it's Horus, but it is hinted that is could be The Emperor.

read the last remembrancer and you will see what im talking about Iacton Qruze is an ex luna wolf captian that is sent on acting secret order from the Sigilite and put in charge of a secret base close to titan...... he has his armour striped and it is now gray ...... the sigilites mark just happenes to be a large I....... i think this hint pretty strongly that the Gray Knights gene father is Horus...... also couple that with the fact that the Gk have a mystery box that only the grand master can know the contents of.......

Automatically Appended Next Post:
and where is it ever hinted that its the Emperor

Garro was Deathguard, NOT Luna Wolf.

there was 1 Luna Wolf that fled with Garro aboard the Eisinstein. the rest of the 80-100 marines were all Deathguard.

Or, as I belive to be the case, the Geneseed stocks they started with were from the Emperor.

the original 8 marines were from many different Legions. their Geneseed would have made its way into the stocks and would have influence, but .8% of the original 1000 wouldn't be noticed at all.

All geneseed is based on the Emperor's, so this is really no revelation.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.
